I went to my cousin’s dewaneya last night and I was exhausted. It felt completely numb after the ride and taking a shower. I got to my cousin’s dewaneya and as usual he is late, I sat there for a little while and I called him and texted him. As usual he is late, the funny part is I always arrive around 8:00pm to 8:20pm and I watch a little tv while I’m there. I have to say that MBC action is one of the most entertaining channels on tv that I know of. Another person came in and after a little while my cousin showed up, as usual he is 35 minutes late, and last time he was 50 minutes late! He is horrible at organizing his time and he sleeps in some times as well and I love nagging him about it, but I also enjoy going over there. Its a dewaneya with an interesting bunch of people, and a lot of good friends. Whats funny is the development of this dewaneya over the past 10 years, it has grown with us and gone through the stages same as us. It has a lot of our history, and I have to say the food is also good but because I’m so damn tired every saturday I don’t even have the energy to stay up and eat. So I drove home dead tired, but its always nice going there even though the guy is always late!
It seems the Ministry of Information wants to make a splash in the water these days. They seem to be shutting down places left and right, even mainstream shops
such as Virgin seem to be forcibly shutdown. I have been going to Hawally every once in a while now and the shops seem to be a little on edge. When I asked the guy I know what is going on these days, and it seems the MOI guys are passing by every few days so they are keeping a tight lid on things. I’m not sure what sparked this sudden interest of MOI to start doing something about nothing. I am very annoyed with them since what they are doing is useless, they won’t let us by original dvds and they are scowering the streets for copies. The MOI should be dissolved and that is my opinion, because its useless everyone can find anything they want if they really want to.
I spotted this car while on the road, I had to take some pictures because it is the first tastefully done Audi Q7 with the body kit and rims to fit the look. I think this is a quality kit and it all fit together. The one thing I don’t like about the Q7 is the rear its not Van looking, but with this kit it looks really different and I really like it.
At night we were sitting outside for a couple of hours, it was nice. It was pleasent and we had some nice seating outside and comfortable, it felt very soothing even with the sound of cars coming by it was nice being outside with the smell of fresh air. The pool water was a little cold, but it looked really nice and I just wanted to jump into it wearing my dishdasha, but I try keeping my senses about me. I really wanted to jump in though, it was warm and it looked nice.
There was an interesting presentation that was going on regarding a company going IPO, and since a family member was very much involved in it I decided to go. I have to say that I am not very well informed about financial details of companies, its a lot of numbers which requires digesting. I felt like an idiot, but after the presentation I understood more then when I went in which is a good thing. Now I have an idea of how companies go to IPO in Kuwait and what sort of information you need and what shape the company should be in to IPO in the market.
I dont know what this guy was thinking when he did this to his new Durango. I dont know why but in Kuwait they have the ability to make nice looking cars extremely ugly, its not that it is a different taste or different approach but just making it ugly. This guy put chrome stickers across the car to make it look cool, and I think he just beat the car with the ugly stick. And why do you put plastic covers on the seat of car, fine it will be stain resistant but it will also be horrible to sit on especially during the summer. He could have only done worse if the car was purple!
This was the IMSA laucnh of the IMSA Lamborghini, it was supposed to be something special but I wasn’t sure of how the event was supposed to go. It seemed that BMW and Porsche had their vehicles there as well people who brought there super cars and there were some interesting vehicles there. Lots of people showed up and after unvailing of the vehicle.
Before going there I met up with K.theKuwaiti and we headed over. Then when the event got started there was a long line of cars heading towards the Kuwait Towers and then we stopped there. Then they blocked the Gulf road on the way back and we were all racing but I was happy as hell that I was on the bike, I knew that Pyro would be faster. It was entertaining but also I had to watch out from the driving of these guys in the supercars, I didn’t want any of them knocking me off my bike. It was funny that I was flying and popping wheelies next to cops while they were blocking the road, it was fun but it could have been better.
Lots of pictures after the break.
I have been having some issues with MTC over the past weekend, they have been driving me up the wall! My usual phone bill is between 110 to 200 KD a month depending on how much international calls I have to make. I always pay on time and I dont have any issues.
My recent bill from MTC was around 380 KD which is rediculous since its way more then what I expected. They seem to be charging whatever suits them at this point. I made sure it got paid, but the next day while I was in Lebanon my phone was disconnected, after contacting the MTC contact center they said it was a mistake and that the billing didn’t show that it was paid earlier until now. They said they would return the service.
To return the service it was supposed to take 10 minutes to an hour. It took over 9 hours for my phone to start working again, then the other issue was that none of my services were working, I didn’t have Call Waiting, Caller ID, Call Forwarding, and anything else I had. I had to keep calling back to check if it was activated, and none of the services were activated again until 48 hours later. I wasn’t getting pissed at the call center people since it wasn’t their fault and they kept apologizing, even the managers were apologizing because they were having a problem with their system!
Get the phone back to normal drove me nuts, and I asked for a full detail of last month’s bill to see what phone calls I was getting charged for and how did it get so rediculous! I’m just pissed that it took MTC this long to return all the services!
For a while now I heard that the police in Kuwait have directive not to follow any motorcyclist if they are speeding or doing something they shouldn’t be doing. I won’t lie I am speeding while riding usually when the street is empty or to get away from the crowd just to ride comfortably. So the other day on the Gulf Road I passed by a Police Car which was going 100 in an 80 and I passed it going 140 kph.
The police officer didn’t do anything and I really didn’t care I was going at my own comfortable pace, but I didn’t know they really didin’t stop someone what so ever at this point.
K-Company meaning any of the Kuwait Petroleum Company and its subsidiaries (KNPC, KOTC, ODC, PIC, KOC, and all the others that I can’t remember)
I was talking to a friend who used to work for one of the K-Companies and I was just talking about how much training they do and for what exactly I’m not sure. He tells me there are some useful courses but the bad thing is how people take advantage of them and abuse these opportunities.
Courses:
They are technical, managerial, financial, and a ton more.
All these courses are available between 4 countries: Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, and UAE.
What Happens:
The Admins and other employees tell the people who book the courses to book them in exotic countries, such as Bangkok, France, UK, Spain, US, or any other place they can find the course but not taking it locally. They would travel to these far destinations for the courses and it would be more like a vacation on the K-Company’s account. So basically they are taking free vacations.
I was honestly surprised that this was so wide spread but if the managers do it whats to stop all the employees.
