Today is the first appointment for the RedBull Flug Tag we will meet with the organizers and see what is going on. I want scope the competition and destroy them. I dont know if they are going to show the other designs, but I hope it doesn’t take too long since we have other things to do!
There are wings to Kuwait Airport, and they have updated one of them, as soon as you walk out of immigration its the wing right in front of you with Gates 4 and 5. The changes do look very nice, they gave it a good face lift with a clean clear look removing the old looking glass previously there.
They also opened the new Duty Free which isn’t too bad and reasonably priced items when we were going through it. The one thing that still annoys me is the lack of magazines, its the first thing I look for in an Airport but it seems it will be like this for while.
They are still working on the other two wings, but Kuwait Airport needs a major expansion and their website can only be said to be visually painful with outdated information. The most annoying thing in Kuwait Airport is the weak wireless signal all over the airport. It would only take an investment of 1000KD to flood the whole airport with commercial level access points.
ABNE & Co is proud to announce its first Red Bull-flugtag flying endeavor, Team Imperial27, in remembrance of Imperial Airways’ first Kuwaiti in 1927. The team will be composed of lead pilot and magician Nibaq (pilot), accompanied by conspiring engineering extraordinaries Marzouq, Mark and K.
Stay tuned for further information about Imperial27’s voyage into the waters of Kuwait.
Usually when you go to banks the service is pretty good at the teller, or they are a bit clueless but they are usually friendly. I was wondering what kind of training they receive or what process they go through. I have been recently enlightened of a process or procedure some of the banks go through to check on employees. What this person does is to go through different steps with one teller and they note everything that person does as well as what the person is wearing, and then they go to another branch and try something else. Its a matter of checking for quality assurance and keeping their employees on their toes since they don’t when it is going to take place and it could be anyone walking in.
I wish other companies that dealt with consumers did this type of live employee review, to keep them on their toes and to have a real report of their actions. Then vehicle dealerships can see the abysmal treatment of customers.
The Sahara Golf Club really doesn’t feel like it is something available in Kuwait, it is a very well done Golf Course which caters to its members. You have to be a member to play there, but there was nobody to ask questions. They had other services, I like the whole design and the application of the wood in the interior but I felt the rooms themselves were a bit tacky. Overall I think it is heaven for any Golf play and if they had good food then people would like eating there as well.

Is it just me or is getting really hot, while running around between meetings and events outside work I had a hell of a time trying to drive. The steering wheel was so damn hot I kept moving my hands around because it felt like they were burning. The temperature said 48C which is getting pretty hot and the temp for Monday is said to go up to 51C, I can’t believe its getting this hot already.
My Landcruiser is tinted and its still getting pretty hot, I can’t imagine how it is to drive cars without tints. Tinting doesn’t necessarily mean making the window darker its also about getting the high quality tint which absorbs the heat. But this heat is a little bit on the ridiculous side.
It seems that Qnet has been down for a bit, it has been down since 8:00pm. The first thing I thought was that they cut the electricity at the Qnet building in Kuwait City or at the Telecommunications Tower since they are starting with the rolling blackouts in certain areas. The only reason I can still surf is because I’m using my kems connection, and its slightly slower the Qnet connection but working great.
I have always had this image of Virgin being the rebellious type brand with a specific feeling from it. Its always the brand that you feel does something because its fun, thats the feeling that Richard Bronson brought across. But sadly thats not the case of Virgin in Kuwait, the Virgin in Kuwait feels like they are trying everything possible to turn a profit and placing products which has nothing to do with the Virgin brand or what other Virgin stores carry.
What I did like:
What I didn’t like:
That is basically my take of the reopened Virgin.
I have noticed this in Kuwait, but a lot of business face this problem when they are trying to move old stock. The way good businesses think is how to get rid of old stock and when it is more useful to discount below cost.
The one thing you notice in Kuwait is that even if something is old they really don’t lower the price because they don’t want to lose a fils on the item. What they don’t take into account is the money they would make from having more stock of a faster or newer item which will make up for the lost. Its annoying when you go buy something old like a game and its still at 20-25KD when its selling for $40-50 online since its release. New sell for more then old and then is something they should take into consideration. That is the same for computer parts, most computer parts move quickly but sometimes there are those which stay for a bit. It applies in different areas but you notice they will always sell for a profit especially with electronics.
