It seems the change is happening, the Volkswagon dealership currently belonging to Fouad Al Ghanim is being taken back to Behbehani. It seems there was some litigation in Germany and they got the dealership back. From people that I know who have Volkswagons, and Audis they are very happy with the service they are getting. There is always the case of one or two unhappy customers but the service is far beyond what VW and Audi used to be in the previous years.
I know there has to be a transition period but I don’t know how bad the service is going to be. Up until the change happened a few years back the Audi and Porsche dealership was in the same building with an abysmal showroom, that was the case with Behbahani, and people still have issues with them when they have problems with there Porsche. As a Porsche the vehicle sells itself they don’t have to make any effort, but previously they just let Audi sit there without any effort to sell it. Now you see more Audis and VWs on the road because of the current dealership, I wonder what is going to happen to the people who already own this car.
Since the summer came in it has been relatively hot that there is no reason to keep the boiler on. If I put the water on cool water it is cool for about 30 seconds and then it turns into hot water and always the same temperature. The switched off boiler has now become the cool water source, I just choose hot water from the tap or shower and it is really cool/cold water which is nice after a hot day outside.
This is something I have been thinking about for a while now. I’m just talking about Kuwaiti women specifically at work. There are specific fields or profession that Kuwaiti women go into in Kuwait and some they are scarce, for example it is very rare to see a Kuwaiti woman as an IT manager or working in the IT field, you do see them but its a rare. From what I have seen more women work to keep themselves preoccupied rather then working to become good at a certain profession or rise up in their job. In Kuwait the social atmosphere or the social setup makes it a bit of task for a woman to be a full working woman since they have a lot of social commitments and duties which is more of a job in itself, basically a lot more social commitment then even what men do see.
You can see that the women who are powerful in the business world are not involved in the social world. The women that are good at what they do or excel extremely at their profession have to work 120% more then men and they are also very shrewd and sharp. So women who have to work really hard and dedicate themselves to work seem to cut themselves off socially. I would really want to see more Kuwaiti women in more diverse professions since they are better educated then most graduates in Kuwait, more females graduate then males, and they graduate at higher scores as well.
I usually just read other people’s blog and comment, but this has to be one of the funniest blog posts I have seen. K.theKuwaiti breaks down the different category of bloggers and I was laughing while reading through it. If you want a laugh, its worth a laugh.

Entrepreneurs in Kuwait have a difficult time getting themselves up and off the ground because of all the rules they make you jump through. There is no incentives for business in Kuwait to start something new, or for someone young to get some help in businesses in Kuwait.
Previously there was an incentive program but then the people in charge took advantage of them, instead of helping people who really want to get things up and going they would help their friends and process their stuff before.
The Baladiya (Municipality) is the worst, they chase after you to try to fine you at every point and when you ask them for the rules that you have to follow when setting up they really don’t help you at all. There is no grace period or warning to get something fixed, there are some gross violations such pollution but if they know the guy they would let it go. It is really frustrating seeing this, and when you are genuinely trying to do something good they hinder you and try not to help you, its frustrating.
I wish there were clear guidelines but you really are on your own in Kuwait and you have to trip to get back up, there really isn’t anyone who can help you out to get things up and going.
Don’t they ever get tired of this? It is the third or fourth time that they block the website! I really don’t get why they are blocking it, its really a waste of time. There is a lot good stuff that we get from Torrentspy and Torrentz, and its not because of copyright that they are blocking it. Its annoying that they keep doing this, and I wonder how long it will take until they unblock it.

We apologize for the inconvenience
I ask all to flood Qnet with emails to unblock it: support@qualitynet.net
P.S. They have unblocked ZDistrict.com at NBK, but it is still blocked at CBK (Al Tijari). Can someone check it out for me and let me know, I’m just curious!
I was taking a look at the different hardware currently available in the market and I have to say there is a decent selection of hardware available but the first thing I do is compare prices. The two items I was looking at were the MSI Nvidia 8800 GTX and MSI Nvidia 8800 GTS.
MSI Nvidia 8800 GTX
Price Kuwait: 260 KD
Price Online: 143 KD
MSI Nvidia 8800 GTS
Price Kuwait: 150 KD
Price Online: $380 = 110 KD
Buying the 8800 GTS would be reasonable but the 8800 GTX is a complete rip off, I’m sure looking around you can find it a bit cheaper but by only 40 KD at most. so it would be 220 KD which is still a huge difference.
I would buy most hardware online if you are in no hurry to purchase the hardware, but if you are going to make a purchase then you are better off getting something just below the most powerful since that would be reasonably priced.
Just one of things that I have come along over the past couple of weeks, and it was something I was previously unaware of. When your making a sign for your business you are given a certain amount of area by the municipality (baladiya). What I didn’t know is that they measure it and you have to pay for it by the sq. meter and you pay for it yearly. You are charged 15 KD per square meter, and the amount you use is charged yearly.
Tricks to know:
Just some tips as I am stumbling through the loops in Kuwait.
I was on my way home on Thursday driving down the Fahaheel Expressway passing over the 5th Ring Road heading south. Bayan was on my right, and I was in the left lane cruising at around 100 kph to 120 kph. I wasn’t in any hurry just flowing with traffic, I was just thinking of the tasks I had in mind to do for the rest of the day.
A Lexus ES 350 came out the Exit about 100 meters in front of us. The vehicle continued in its daiagnol path with complete disregard for all traffic. The car was now in the left lane, and 200 meters in front of the car was a car flashing its lights on the left lane stopping. The ES 300 decided to slam the brakes full on when the road was completely empty. The car in front of me hit the brakes and so I hit the brakes, and my tires locked up.
All you could see was white smoke, and I was getting closer to the vehicle in front of me. My car wasn’t stopping fast enough so I knew that I was going to hit him, a guy in an Isuzu Trooper. I just came to the conclusion that I wasn’t going to hit him, I tried turning my tires but it didn’t do any good. The guy in front of me saw what was happening and let go of his brakes and broke right hard when he had an opening. With that he helped me a lot, he gave me maneuvering room, so I let go of the brakes to get traction again and I broke left when I felt I had traction and managed to get away and slow down. Traffic behind us was slowing down a lot since all you could see was white smoke. There was no reason to break the whole time, and we passed the car parked in the emergency lane. This whole mess was due to an over reaction from the Lexus ES, and as I expected the driver was a woman. She showed complete disregard when cutting across lanes and ignoring all the vehicles on the road. I don’t care if someone is doing that, and they are going faster then traffic and finding openings, but when she is going slower and runs almost two vehicles out of their lanes since she is turning without looking that drives me nuts. The problem is that she thinks that nothing was her fault and that drives me nuts.
After that incident my steering wheel was vibrating as if the alignment was completely off but it turned out the because of the hard breaking parts of my tires have become flat. The only solution was to replace all four tires with new tires since three tires were damaged.
