Day of Rampage!...

sledgehammer.jpg

I have never gotten as pissed as I have the other day! I think I blew a couple of veins, and I wiped the floor with a couple of people. The worst kind of people are those who lie and those are just pure scum bags. People screw up and I don’t mind that, people make mistakes and you can fix that.

My problem is with these kinds of people:

  • Those who lie
  • Those who stab you in the back

The other day I went off on someone that I don’t think was expecting me to go off, I’m usually really cool about everything and even when I get worked up I’m aggressive but level headed, but this time I let the flood gates open and didn’t care until I made sure this guy knew that I’m stopping just short of killing him,. When I really go off is when someone messes around with my work, I don’t care if that person is high up or below I will push them out of the way if they don’t get out of the way. I take responsibility for my work, and I have pride in my work and if someone is screwing it up and its coming to me then I will be extremely pissed off. That is one situation where I wiped the floor with a guy who is supposed to be respected, I basically told him he is useless and shouldn’t even be in this profession, and told him to not open his trap again, or I will be shutting it for him permanently.

The other person was trying to squeeze a deal to somebody else because I know that he was getting some cash under the table, and it was clear as day but after working on it the deal came my way. I was honest about the whole thing, the whole way, and if we didn’t get it then I didn’t mind since I knew we put full effort and I knew I’m going to do a good job but this idiot was still trying to get us to go through someone else. At that point I got pissed since I knew there was some dirty work happening under the table and so I decided to tell him that since he is an intelligent person he shouldn’t be asking stupid questions.

I really get pissed with dishonest people, both when dealing with them internally and externally.

Work Pile Up...

paperwork.jpg

After just being away for a few days from work I came back with a pile of paperwork on my table and it was insane. I had to come to full throttle from the first minute I was in, it was insane I didn’t have a lot of emails as much as I had things I had to do to make sure the ship is going forward. I’m coming in early and leaving a little late, not too late but the work at the end of the day is exhausting. Its good getting back into the groove of things but I also have to keep on pushing a lot of people and driving them nuts.

Power Out at Work...

electricity.jpg

This is probably one of the most annoying things to happen while at work. Today around noon the power went out in a block in Shuweikh. Some buildings around the area had power, but other buildings didn’t have power. They say it wasn’t Tarsheed just randomly shutting down areas instead it was problem they were having.

The building slowly got hotter and hotter, I was running between two buildings since the phones were out. We were making phone calls on our cell phones. Only those of us who had laptops could still do some work, and those who had desktops couldn’t really do anything. What was becoming unbearable was the heat, at least outside you are moving but inside when your sitting down working, and the heat is increasing. By 3:30pm I couldn’t be productive anymore since my laptop power was about to come to end and I got enough of the heat and decided to head out early. I’m not even sure when the power was going to come back up.

Accidental Days!...

towers.jpg

I just found this information out! In Kuwait by law you are allowed 6 accidental days off, meaning days you don’t show up to work and don’t need a doctors note. There are some details regarding those days, to be an accidental day it can only be one single day and not two days, if its two days it will not be considered accidental.

With that you can take a day off without a reason and it can be considered accidental! Its nice to know these labor laws sometimes you can take advantage of them! I’m not sure this applies to both expats and Kuwaitis! There are some points to clear out! Great accidental days!

Site Survey...

Usually a site survey is a bit of boring thing, but this one was turned into something more entertaining.

We had some work to do out in the nether regions of Kuwait, so we decided to make it a late day excursion between myself and my coworker.

It was a site survey for services out by Al Zoor, Nuwaiseeb, and Khairan. Checking out what is there and what isn’t, it will a good development for that area giving services to that area of Kuwait, but it will be good when they do complete.

It was one good drive with some music, and a camera. Its always a nice drive when the weather is pleasant and the company is good.

The Quiet before the Storm...

officeguy.jpg

The beginning of this week I thought it was going to be a lighter week and we are going to be able to move things along and things will be chugging along without too many bumps on the road. I was looking forward to the lighter load, but I was completely and utterly wrong.

A few things that I wasn’t expecting came out of no where, and a few things happened which weren’t supposed to. This caused my work to increase four fold, not the amount of time but the amount of effort. I don’t think I have gone through that many phone calls as I have already which is insane.

In Normal weeks I have a few days which are on and a few which are light.

My head during a normal day:

  • Head A Bit Fuzzy in the morning
  • Things clears up and I’m on top of things
  • Things are in full throttle
  • I’m still going but people left work
  • Then I go home

Thats my usual brain pattern when thinking about it.

This week I have had to be on full throttle all day long its insane!! I want to quiet this storm, hopefully soon! Its funny, I feel like I’m in fast forward and everyone else is too damn slow!

Hectic Schedule...

WorkChart.jpg

I’m getting burnt out the last week or so from work and social obligations! I’m getting so burnt out that I had to make a chart to make sure I really man, and I verified it twice. I can’t even sit long enough in front of the screen to comment or read as many things as I usually do. That the Friday where I slept in for 14 hours rarely happens and I need it to happen again! I’m a zombie state of mind.

Out of a Week

Worked: 70 Hours

Family and Social Obligations: 37 Hours

Sleep: Not Enough!!!

Air Conditioning Issues...

icecube.jpg

Why does it only happen when its getting hot! Right now there are guys in overalls roaming around the office messing around with power cables and the A/C keeps going off so its a little on the warm side here. Also our building is like a cube filled with metal beams so it disruppts the mobile signal inside the office, to get a mobile signal I have to walk outside in this heat. I don’t know why they do this type of work during the day or during office hours, work slows down, they should do this after hours. I can’t function with things like this, my brain is slowly shutting down, I need it to be cooler.

Its Official...

workbriefcase.jpg

I just saw it on the news, the official holidays have been moved from Thursday and Friday to Friday and Saturday.

Starting from September 1st 2007 the official weekend will be Friday Saturday.

That will change everythinga around, no more half days for a lot of companies but work will be longer during the weekdays. So instead of 8am-4pm it will be 8am-5pm.

This will have an interesting affect on a lot of business and I’m wondering how retail shops will react to this change in Kuwait. Now all the banking people have lost that Saturday holiday they hold so dear.

London Work...

2-meeting-room.jpg

I’m meeting with people in the morning, afternoon, and night just to finish up all the work that there is. Its funny these meetings go from one time to another, and it just keeps stretching and we are even working on their weekend to finish things up in a timely manner. But I do get some free time in the afternoon and late at night to go to some movies or grab a bite to eat. Its different sessions some take a while and some are short, so it isn’t too bad. The one thing I do notice for sure is how expensive it is just to live in London, I asked some of them how do you live here and survive because the cabs are expensive and getting around isn’t cheap either. I have taken the underground a few times already and I got lost twice but I managed to find my way back, it isn’t difficult its just a matter of getting familiar with things!
