Well I thought it was reaching its end and I was right! It reached the end!
20 Days 23 Hours and 19 minutes! It said ran out of Virtual Memory! Not bad for a windows machine!
Firefox crashed. Lucky I have session saver. And when I restarted it said the hard disk failed. So I did a hard shutdown, and waited a bit before restarting it. Now its back to normal! hehehe!
I love abusing this computer!
My work computer has been on for 19 Days 2 Hours 11 mins and 18 seconds.
And now its acting all funny and stuff! Its really slow sometimes.. and then its spits out all the words as if I just held the button down for each letter. Im just going to keep going to see how crazy it gets! hehehe!
Its screwing up when I type, and making my gmail chat connection worthless! And sometimes there is a rediculous delay! Probably restart tommorow! hehe! But we will see!
I dont know about other people, but I work 5 & 1/2 days out of the week. Its annoying as hell to lose your thursday! I got used to having a full weekend when I used to work in the US. Saturday and Sunday were off! It was great you could do a lot of things!
And people who work for banks say they work Thursdays too, but then I say “YOU GET SATURDAY OFF!!”. hehehehe! Thursday is the slowest possible day in the week, and there is a status meeting that we have to go to that I find useless! I can email you a report damn it!
Im looking forward to getting off in a few hours. And down with France! I am with Italy! That game was annoying Portugal should have won, they were playing better! Viva La Italy! I shall take the frustrations of work on France. And I still need to finish some reports before the damn meeting! lol
I have been through 4 meetings today which have taken up 5 hours of my day. And I have one hell of headache!
Some meetings were good, and some were annoying! I get annoyed with people wasting time! Nobody can arrive on time! I hate it when people are really late for no reason! Its not like I dont have anything better to do! And I had to go to three different places for the meetings! And damn its dusty and hot outside! Cant a guy get a damn break! Seriously!
I get annoyed with the guys who are so full of themselves thinking they are geniuses when in reality they are clueless and cant do a thing! They should be slapped across the head! Dont you guys have those days where you just want to go on a rampage at work! That was my day! I needed to punch someone! But who! hehehehe!
The concept of working from home, or setting up business from home is a very alien concept. I was thinking about this while I was at work. I would really want to be home right now and who doesnt. I would use Real VNC to do work from home. I thought that would be perfect.
Some of my friends in the states would do work from home instead of going in sometimes if they dont have any meetings I thought that would be ideal. But then I came to the realization that is impossible to do work at home in Kuwait. Most people I know live with their families at home even if they have been working for years. If they stay home and do work, their family will say “oh he isnt working he is just sitting down stairs on the computer and making a few phone calls” and you would get harrassed! Sometimes I try and read emails from work at home, and if Im doing that it seems that it is categorized as a form of entertainment here! lol! They tell me basik le3ib hel computer, it isnt considered work unless you get a serious phone call and your sitting at a desk.
So it seems in my case you cant do work from home, and probably other people’s cases as well! hehehehe!
Im sitting on a couch far away from people. So I could switch on my laptop and blog a little bit, before my battery dies out (Should get MacBook!). This is a pretty good conference, but a few people didnt show up from yesterday. There are about 40 today instead of 50. The one thing that some of these managers have said that is important to Kuwait is the matter of accountability. The reason some of these people dont make a decision regarding a crisis is because that person will be blamed if it was handled in the best way possible or the higher ups didnt agree with this persons decision. Its basically the higher ups leaving that person hanging to take all the blame, and thats the problem we have in Kuwait. There is no support for peoples decisions they just want to assign blame. And nobody has any preparations because they just react to terrible situations.
I can understand the frustration of some of these people, because at the end of the day they get left out to dry. So I can understand their frustrations and how come they arent impowered to make a decision. They were talking about examples of people going to court because of decisions they have made in the oil companies or in governmental agencies. Well hopefully somebody learns from this conference.
This security management seminar is the first I have seen to have a give and take type discussion. A lot of people from KOC and KPC. And other agencies related oil and security. These individuals are do have there own opinions but the problem I keep here from them is that they can’t do anything about their security problem until the higher ups (sul6aat al 3ulya) get involved or are interested they can’t do much about it. And they don’t know what are their responsibilities and the responsibilities of the government, and they tend to put everything on the government because it rids them of responsibility. They give up before even taking a step!
What’s good is that they are involved in a group exercise related to their respective companies, and its the first conference where I see this kind of exercise! Well it wasn’t a bad conference but I still have to go tomorrow.
Sorry for the grainy pictures but I took the pictures with my phone!
I took some pictures of the buffet as people mentioned it earlier. This wasnt a bad buffet either.
People moving around to get into the groups for the exercises.
I’ve got to be at this crappy conference for two days 8am to 4pm. Its about oil and other matters, but Im really not looking forward to it. I have been to a lot of conferences in Kuwait and very few have been good. I think I can only remember 2 that have been good out the of the 17 that I have been to!
I really hope they have wireless where Im going or else Im going to be bored out of my mind.
So I’m off to a messy start. I woke up this morning tired as hell, because I just couldn’t get off the computer at night! I watched three episodes of Blood + (anime), and I just wanted to know what the hell was going to happen next and I have about 23 episodes I haven’t seen. But after I saw that it was 2:00am I knew I had to sleep to get up at 7:00am. I went to bed started reading my book, and I think I passed out around 2:30am.
When I woke up this morning it was hard as hell to move, my brain was issuing commands but nobody was acknowledging them! I was in a dilemma, but I also had this weird urge to have a mango. I don’t know why but I wanted a mango for breakfast, so I forced myself out of bed and went hunting for a mango when my eyes were still not used to the sun light! And I found one, went back to my room like Smeegal (Lord of the Rings), and just destroyed the mango, but I also put one in my pocket hehehehee. And I went at that one as well, to say that things got messy is an understatement! Its as if I woke up from a trance, and I was thinking “what the hell am I doing”. I got in the shower and I was laughing at how I was acting in the morning. And went to work, now that I am at work I got a lot of things done and I felt very productive. So then I was thinking I could probably go to Safat Alghanim and check out a few electronics and nobody would really miss me, just when I was thinking of leaving I get a call telling me I have to go to a meeting at 12:30pm! Damn it!!!! Almost escaped!! hehehehe!
I am sitting here in my office having one of those quick meetings with people in and out of the office. Catching up with work and so on. But recently over the past couple of days birds seem to love my window or they are delirious from the heat. Im not sure which!
Im sitting here and then suddenly a bird comes flying into my window, and he gets back up and starts pecking at the window. I feel sorry for these birds, and the windows are reflective to keep some heat out. Maybe its because of the reflectiveness of the windows, but it has happened too often. Twice on sunday and once on monday! I feel for these birds, but some of them act real funny after each visit! And yesterday was a pegion which looked like he had a screw or two loose. Adventures to continue!
