OSN & ART Line Up Jumble...

OSNLOGO

Being the techi guy in the house I’m referred to as the Electrician, and my family expects me to know all the details of Orbit and ART and how to get new channels. I was never too fond of Orbit, Showtime or ART but at this point they have all pretty much gone down the drain. They change the way they would broadcast, we had to change our decoders then they changed it back to another way because everyone got really confused. The shows on the channels have honestly improved but the decoders have really gone down the drain. Previously Orbit had a very good way to display and categorize all of the channels, even when they reached 60 channels it was still pretty good. Now going to the generic system they have honestly confused the hell out of me, and if you can’t navigate through 400+ channels to find the right channels. When getting a new decoder I go through the painstaking process of creating favorite lists based on the channels they want, and that takes hours and hours to get done. The worst part is when a decoder crashes or when it updates they erase the whole damn channel favorites that you have worked on. Sometimes I spend over five long minutes looking for one channel in that insanely long list, and sometimes I give up and just leave the TV. Luckily most everything I watch is online, or downloaded or other forms of content delivery that does not require me to interact with OSN or ART decoders, but if something is wrong then I am the first line of support for the family. With the new decoders they basically made it impossible for people to find a channel or to enjoy it, they should work on the interface not just the channels, it would make things a lot better.

The Raven – Short SciFi Flick...

Chris Black possesses a power that could lead to the destruction of the current regime, and they will stop at nothing to destroy him. The chase is on as Chris runs for his life in this sci-fi thriller set in an alternate and futuristic Los Angeles.

What amazes me about this short film is that it was shot with a $5000 budget in Los Angeles using a RedEye camera. When I first saw this I thought it was a sneak preview of a movie since I didn’t bother reading anything now, now I wish they turn it into a TV Series or movie, it looks pretty damn cool with an interesting idea.

What I’m Watching...

Fringe

There are a lot of TV shows out there right now! Some pretty good and some that don’t seem to be surviving with their ratings. There are a lot of other shows that I am waiting to see for the summer, and in the summer I catch up with all the shows I didn’t have a chance to watch regularly. I’m saving up 24 after watching the first four hours to watch it one shot, I can’t take the wait in between the episodes, I would go nuts, I’m planning on watching it all one shot in “24” hours before the series finale. Lots of good comedies this year which is good, and some good shows just got better but I need to catch up on other shows as well.

The Regulars

  • 24
  • 30 Rock
  • 90210
  • Accidentally on Purpose
  • Chuck

  • The Mentalist
  • White Collar

  • Caprica – Just Starting
  • Friday Night Lights – Going to Catch up
  • Gossip Girl – Going to Catch Up

Good but Might Not Survive The Cut:

  • Flash Forward – Love This Show
  • V – This Show Has To Go On! It Can’t End!!
Better Off Ted – The End...

BetterOffTed

From turning co-workers into human popsicles to converting ordinary fruit into a military weapon, nothing is off limits at the company depicted in this satire. Better Off Ted gives us a birds eye view into the clockworks of a soulless corporation, Veridian Dynamics. As the corporation makes technological advancements, morals and human rights are heavily neglected. Don’t drop your kids off at the Veridian daycare, unless you don’t mind them doubling as janitors!

I tend to love corporate humor and too bad this is the end of the show, no longer renewed for another season. At least season 2 ended with a bang, they took a lot of risks but made the story that much more interesting. Veridian Dynamics is one messed up company turning every idea into a weapon and treating their employees like machines, Ted is there to make the company happy with all the new products but also make sure the employees feel loved and don’t breakdown. So many different angles and funny characters, I love how Veronica is the riduclously powerful woman who thinks people are only useful at work and they should make the company more successful. The story developed more in season 2 between all the characters not just revolving on Ted, and there was a lot more to be seen but too bad it ended, but for those who haven’t seen it its a comedy really worth watching and very entertaining.

Jack’c Time Is Up...

JackBauer

This very sad moment has been officially announced, season 8 is the last season of 24, no longer will we have the moments of Jack Bauer sacrificing himself to save everyone else, doing what others can not do. At least they are ending 24 on a high note, and I honestly wouldn’t want it picked up by another studio unless its the same people and crew working on it.

I watched the first few episodes of 24 at the season premiere and it was so good that I decided to wait and watch the rest of them one shot. Waiting week to week for this amazing show kills because I can’t wait to know what is going to happen next or what Jack is going to do.

This will bring 24 the feature film on track based on their previous comments, now lets see how long that’s going to take, its rumored to be taking place in Europe.

Retro Posters of my Favorite Shows...

Now this is art at a fun level, an artist called Exergian has taken all the popular tv shows in turned them into Pop-Culture Art relating to each show. Taking each show and coming up with a retro poster to represent it is a very fun idea, some are really matching and some are a bit off. The link below you can see all the posters which are for sale, but added all the ones that I found to be interesting, some of my favorites are 24, BattleStar Gallactica, Dexter, FlashForward, Knight Rider, Heroes, and MacGuyer.

24 Might Ending At 8...

24Season8FullCast

After 8 long excruciating and stressful days for Jack Bauer this may be the last for him. Hearing this news shocked me because this is one of the best seasons of 24 yet. Studio executives at Fox are in discussions and some decision will be out in the next few days. It will end on top with this season as being a great season. Fox might shop it around to other networks if it is stopped. The main part for them is that ratings have dropped and the cost to make the show has gone up.

I honestly don’t know if 24 would have done as well as it as if it came out Pre-9/11. It touched on a lot of sensitive subjects, vulnerabilities, paranoia, and things such torture, espionage, terrorism, and beauruacracy. It has had high and a few iffy seasons but still a fantastic show and I’m still crossing my fingers for another season.

They are still moving forward with with the movie, the script being written up by Billy Ray (State of Play, Flightplan) and Jack is taken to Europe. Fox is excited about the movie and the possibility.

Now let us see the outcome

BSG @ My Cousins...

The last few weeks me and a few of my cousins have a ritual with Battlestar Galactica, we are watching Season 4 all together as much as possible. We gather at this place to watch and Season 4 has become a hectic season for me, for some reason I wanted to find the right time to watch it all and not be bothered by anyone. He has a nice movie room setup with the right combination of equipment, and we are watching Battlestar Galactica on Blu-Ray which looks really good.

What he likes to have ready on the table is an assortment of candies, popcorns, and snacks to be eaten during the whole event. I got there around 3:30 pm and we started watching right away as another cousin joined as later. I had my spot on the couch which was very comfortable as we watch the cylons go to war and everything going wrong on Galactica, this is one crazy season. I’m happy I waited to watch it with the right people who would appreciate BSG and I’m enjoying every moment of it.

White Collar...

Neal Caffrey is a con-man who was captured after a three-year game of cat-and-mouse. With three months left while serving a four-year sentence, he escapes from a maximum security federal prison to find Kate, his ex-girlfriend. Peter Burke, the FBI agent who captured Caffrey, catches him again. This time, Caffrey gives Burke information about evidence in another case; however, this information comes with a price: Burke must have a meeting with Caffrey. At this meeting, Caffrey proposes a deal: he will help Burke catch other criminals as part of a work-release program. Burke agrees, after some hesitation. Within a day of being released from prison, Caffrey already lives in one of the most expensive houses in Manhattan, after persuading an elderly widow to rent him her guest room. After catching the elusive Dutchman, Caffrey has proven to Burke that he will help him, and that he will not try to escape again. However, at the same time, Caffrey is still looking for Kate, who he believes is in trouble.

A crime drama from USA Networks with nice combination of action, tension, and comedy that I wasn’t expecting. Caffery is the magical con artist who helps the FBI with their cases in odd ways, he sees what these law men can’t see and does want they can’t do. At the same time he has the straight cut Burke on his case all the time but the combination of the two characters is good. At first I wasn’t sure about the show, it had a bit of an odd but entertaining start but the story just kept getting better and better, with a larger picture inside each episode being pieced together while they handle their current case which usually ends at the end of an episode. The show really gets going after a few episodes and should be added to your watch list, I hope they continue at this pace.

24 – Movie...

TV_24

It seems that 24 is hitting the big screen, from all the high tv ratings it seems that it might do well as a movie. They hired Billy Ray as the screenwriter of this movie, he usually does those very complex stories not the gritty Jack Buaer rips someone’s head off type of story. I’m hoping that the movie comes together as good as the tv shows does, I’m assuming it will be a long movie to get the story across. I’m still not sure how 24 hours will be equated in the movie and it will have high expectations from the fans.
