Google Zurich...

Now this is one hell of an office, I thought the RebBull office in London is crazy, but this is just something else. I knew Google spent on the extras, but I didn’t think they would go this far with all the extras in the office. It looks like an office that morphed into a play ground, I wonder how they get any work done and they have a fish tank room which has no purpose.

HD-DVD is Dead...

hd-dvd_bluraysm.jpg

It seems the white flag has been raised, the signs were there before but it just seemed like an up hill battle. HD DVD players are selling at very cheap rate most of the main electronics sellers are stopping support, the big people in HD DVD are moving over to Blu Ray. Wal Mat, Net-Flix, and Best Buy dropped their support for HD DVD which cuts off most access to this technology, and now Toshiba raises the white flag.

hd-dvd-360.jpg

I have my collection and I will enjoy it, what I might do is try to rip it to my computer so that I can have a digital copy and at least I didn’t spend too much on the HD DVD player since its just an extension of my XBox 360. I will switch to Blu Ray in due time, but I won’t be buying any blue discs anytime soon.

Google Android...

google-android.jpg

Its been a while since Google has been talking their jump into mobile industry, it wasn’t clear what they have been up to until now. Google is developing an operating system for all the mobile companies to use on their phones which I think is genius, at first everyone thought they would make a phone.

Windows Professional is stiff and not flexible with lots of features, but I do find it very annoying sometimes and its not friendly at all. I don’t know why Microsoft has the idea that if its for business then it can’t be user friendly and flexible. This is where Google will dominate, and if Google’s plan takes off then they can really challenge the iPhone.

Kangoo Jumps...

kangoo5.jpg

I first saw this at the Go Sports store in Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates. I really had no clue what they were and why there were so many damn shoes on the wall. It reminded me of those jumping shoes and people could go flying. I was just passin through to check out some shoes, and whne I saw this huge wall of shoes I was curious as to what they were.

kangoo1.jpg

Turns out these are rebound excercise shoes used in excercising, fun, rehabilitation, weight loss, atheletic training, and a few other different physical activities. The one thing that it does which I find amazing is that it reduces the wear on your ankles, knees, lower back, and spine by 80%. That is the reason I use an elyptical because it reduces the stress on my knees but these are amazing if they can do that. It does look funny jumping around in these shoes while running or excercising at home or out in the open.

It can be used in the gym, on a dirt path, at home, in the garden, basically anywhere you want to go.

Aerion Supersonic Jet...

aerion1a.jpg

After the British Airways Concord I didn’t think they would make another supersonic jet for a while, but it seems they are making one now. This plane goes for $80’000’000 and Sheikh Rashid of Dubai just purchased one. This plane is so fast it can cover the Atlantic Ocean in two hours, it can cruise at 1.5 Mach where allowed with a top speed of 1.6 Mach, this machine can create a sonic boom that can destroy buildings. In the US it can only travel at 0.98 Mach due to regulation and travel at certain speeds due to regulation, but if you want to get somewhere fast then this is the plane for you.

aerion2a.jpg

It has a ceiling of 51’000 feet and you have to put a $250’000 deposit to get one in 2014 which is expected delivery.

Metal Storm...

This machine has been developed in Australia and is now being tested by the US Navy. They have developed this automated firing machine over a long period with different variations. The insane thing about it is that it can shoot 1 million rouds per minute which is nothing short of scary, I wouldn’t want to be next to this machine when it goes off or sees an intruder.

Photosynth...

photosynth.jpg

Photosynth is a photo manipulating software which lets you navigate pictures in an unseen manner based on Seadragon Technology. This is probably one of the most amazing photo manipulation I have ever seen, they are able to make a 3-D image out of multiple pictures from flickr by going through the meta-data such as tags, and match picture upon picture from Camera Phones to DSLRs and you are able to see it as a solid image and zoom into a corner of statue on a building. The Demo is amazing and must be seen be understood, now this amazing technology.

Sony XEL-1 OLED TV...

sonyxel1.jpg

This is one hell of screen from Sony, and now the OLED screens are hitting the market. The brightness and richness of this screens are incomparible and they are extremely thin. This model from Sony is only 3mm thick, and can probably fit anywhere at this point. I hope they expand OLED screens soon and they drop in price just as fast. For something like this you would be dropping $1700 for this small beautiful screen, but it all depends what you want. When LCDs first came out they were very pricey and hopefully just like them OLEDs will drop in price quickly. HD quality screens for so small.

Concept Music Player...

knifesmp3.jpg

This is a really interesting design for an MP3/CD player, this designer has taken a different approach. This designer likes butterfly knives so he got his inspiration from there and designed the mp3 to split to able to hold the CD in a very different style! Too bad it won’t ever be sold!

RevoPower...

revopower.jpg

Now this is ingenious, building a motor device which depends on rotation and assists your riding. It can go 100 mph and up to a speed of 17 mph. This 21cc motor only weighs at 15 lbs, and can really change the way you ride.
