Quick Stop...

I had a lot of work yesterday and just going through it wasnt too bad. I knew I was going to have a long week so Im just getting ready for it. Aside from that my day yesterday was pretty eventful, and I had a pretty funny conversation.

My barber calls me up, and I was surprised he was calling me early the morning. He’s a great guy, and funny as hell too. Then he tells me that I need a shave and a hair cut. I haven’t seen the guy for at least two weeks. I started laughing I asked him why he thinks that, he told me one my friends said that my beard is too ridiculous and needs to be shaved off, and he was leaving for a couple of days. And I thought it would be perfect to go to the barber since Im always relaxed over there. He gave me a 4:10pm appointment and I thought it would give me the perfect amount of time to head home and get on Robo to go to the barber. I have to say that Salmiya was empty, and it was the first time that I rode during the day and I could feel a cool breeze! It was fantastic! I didnt see one police man on the road and I was riding down the gulf road for a bit. I got Robo back, and I will posting about Tristar’s great service and the Exhaust sounds amazing and I will be posting about that too, Im extremely happy with it.

When I got there I saw my cousin and we started talking and laughing. He didn’t know that I am insane about bikes and that I ride a lot. He just saw a person in full gear walk up to him while he was getting a shave. After that it was my turn, and I shaved my head, shaved the beard and adjusted the goatee. It felt freaking amazing! I just felt so clean, and the ride back was just as great. The rodes to and from Salmiya were empty it was fantastic. I saw a few more cars as I was getting close to home, but it was nothing compared to normal traffic.

Bike of the Year 2006...

gsxr750k6.jpg

Over the years most manufacturers have phased out the 750cc motorcycles since jumps in technology have made the 600 formidable motorcycles and the 1000cc motorcycles demon on the road. Except for Suzuki, they kept this 750cc piece even though they were extremely succesful with their 1000cc and 600cc motorcycles. And this year they made the perfect motorcycle if it could be ever said of one motorcycle then this would be it. It has the power of 1000cc motorcycles, and it handles like a 600cc motorcycle. Its good around town and fierce piece of machinary and ingenuity on the track. It has enough power that you dont need to keep in the high revs to enjoy it, and turns lighter then the 1000cc, and it has amazing grip and you get great feedback, with brakes able to stop on a dime. With a silky smooth gear, enough power beween your legs to make you loose your breath and the chassis with the perfect balance. Such an amazing bike and the Suzuki dealer in Kuwait wont bring it in because they think they wont sell any of them.

Tristar Service...

pickup2.jpg

I just got my Akrapovic Exhaust System in to be fitted on Robo. Im extremely happy since its 1/3 the weight from 12 kgs to 4 kgs, and has an agressive tone to it. I called Tristar last week and they told me they are booked one week ahead. So I booked an appointment for this thursday, but with work and Ramadan I knew I didnt have much of a chance to drop my bike off. I was trying to figure out how to do it. When I called them to ask if I could borrow a trailer to bring the bike in with they told me that they have a pickup and delivery service. Which I thought was great! For 20 KD in total they will pickup your motorcycle and drop it off at your door step. Of course I was very skeptical at first since Im very sensitive to those who would be touching my bike, but it turn that this guy knew what he was doing. He was strapping down the bike correctly, but I was still watching him like a hawk. Im going to pass by after work to check on Robo, I hope they finish all the work today! I hate not having him in the garage! It feels like something is missing or something is wrong!

Overall I think Tristar is going a great job keeping their customers happy since Im one happy customer!

Sorry for the fuzzy picture but these were taken at 10:30pm last night, and I only had my cell phone. I didnt want to leave my bike alone for one minute!

This is the cool looking van which they transport the bikes in. There is another bikes inside the van before mine, but they seemed very well strapped down.

As you can see Robo all tied up and ready to go, with exhaust sitting on the floor close by.

Aprillia RSV-R...

An amazing looking V-Twin from Aprillia. It looked great last year with a bit lacking at the engine. But now this years model has been retuned and improved. It has a lot of torque and feels great. The machine looks great with the right Italian twist to it. It has the agility to ride amazingly and comfortable to ride around town and on the track. It shows its true colors on the track, but then it is still good for around the town. I would love to get my hands on this bike since Im assuming the bike is between 4000 – 5500 KD. Its got one hell of a spunky engine! Just looks hot!

MotoGP 2006 Season Update...

MotoGPstandings.jpg

These are the current standings for the 2006 Season! Its going to be very interesting towards the end! Valentino Rossi is a favored winner, but its very crazy this year. This each rider has had ups and downs. But Rossi is favored to win even though he had trouble previously, and Hayden is leading right now, but by only a small margin! This is going to be insane, and I think to watch some of the MotoGP you can catch it on Eurosport!

I wish I could go to one of these races, but I think I have to plan it out for next year or something to go to these races! They are just insane! So much energy and seeing these races live is exhilirating!

Ride Back...

I rode back from work after a quick day of finishing things up and a few meetings. I was pretty psyched up to get back on the bike and ride back. I got my gear on and talking to few a co-workers before leaving. Switch on my mp3 player, and got on my bike and zoomed out.

The one thing is to take it easy around Shuweikh because of oil spots, sand and other debris. So I was zooming about the obstacles and heading towards the 3rd ring road to get on Malik Faisal Highway (Airport Road, the one without any stop lights). There was some traffic on the 3rd ring road and some people were pissed so they werent letting me through, but I was in such a good mood they I didnt care and just waited if I needed.

A few things to watch out for (The Highest is the most Dangerous)

  1. A woman on the phone. Doesnt care about anything around her.
  2. Any trucks carrying anything in the back, its a huge possibility that something might fall out the back.
  3. The small egg shaped white vans are pretty small, but the drivers like sticking to their lane and not paying attention.

Other then that just try to put some distance between you and other cars. As long as I was moving I was feeling pretty good, it was 45C on my screen, and the temperature on the control tower said 40C up in the air! So it wasnt too bad and I was enjoying the ride back.

When Im picking how fast to go on the bike, I usually keep in mind how fast I can slow down or react to avoid people who dont see me or who do see me and dont care. So you can go fast, but make sure your ready to stop on a dime. Good breaks are a must!

Such a nice start to the weekend and a great way to start Ramadan. Going to hit the beach house later on tonight.  Going to be able to ride a lot during Ramadan!

Ride to Work...

helmetwork.jpg

Today is a casual day for us and I decided to take my bike to work. And usually it take 30-40 mins to get to work depending on traffic. But this morning it took me a total of 10 mins and thats when I was cruising on my way here. I had my jacket, helmet, and gloves, and so the gaurd to the entrance didnt know me, but I still went under the barrier and rode in. It was funny that he came out and wanted to chase me. When I parked and took off my helmet he started laughing. Now he will remember that I come on the bike. Its the first time I come to work on the bike since it isnt scorching hot anymore. It was still a pretty funny site, and half the road was empty on my way here. But today they decided to do some road work so it was all gravel towards the end of my little excursion, so I was taking it easy.

Tempting Speed?...

So Kuwait’s cameras are up and working again with a new law being enforced. I dont feel like testing the new law I have been watching myself while driving. If you are more then 18 kph above the speed limit the camera will go off, and its going off everywhere! So I have been holding myself back, but on the bike I can relax a little bit since there is no front license plate.

DSC04578.jpg

But now Im in the states. All the bikes I have been riding are faster then most production cars. And they have some nice roads with civil drivers. Im very tempted to enjoy myself whenever possible. This idea has been bouncing around, since speeding cameras are illegal in Northern California so you only have to watch out for police cars. And when your going a certain speed lots of things seems to become one big blur, you just have to get around it! And your sense pulsing! But the police in the US arent nice, and their bite is worse then their bark!

I have to watch myself! I dont need speeding tickets everywhere I go! Also anyone who is going to travel make sure to pay all your tickets in Kuwait, because if it is more then 100KD they wont let you travel.

To speed or not to speed.. hmm

Hamdy and Eric are the two people who have been riding like crazy with me in and around the Bay Area! The speeds we were going would have resulted in us arriving in jail, but that aside. I love California highways! And a few times we passed the Police going so fast that they couldnt catch up, but we didnt mess around too much we would take the first exit and go to a starbucks and park our bikes in the back while getting something cold to drink and relax for about 20 mins. It worked everytime!

Cali Riding...

This is when I was in the states a little while back and I was going riding with my friend Hamdy and Eric! There was another edition to my bikes! And it was this little red monster! The Triumph Daytona 675, and I think it is an amazing motorcycles with its V-Twin Engine and grunty power! So now its the 675, the R1, and the FZ6. I didnt let Eric ride the R1 or the 675 just because he has to learn to ride with the FZ6 first! I think I have given the riding bug to everyone, and I think its spreading! Anyways here are some pictures of us whenever we stopped! It was a nice sunny cool California day!

I remember that day since we had an amazing day riding, with clear skies. The roads were perfect, and we could see other rides coming from the other direction when we were in the moutains. It was amazing taking turn by turn, and keeping an eye on my friends through the side view mirror to make sure they are making it through without any problems! I dont worry about Hamdy since I know he is a capable rider and makes clear decisions so I was worried about Eric since its his first time on the moutain roads. These roads are challenging and force you to believe in your skills and improve your skills! Curve after curve after curve! Until we reach Alice’s cafe where its motorcycle central, and we park and relax! What a day! then he head up to Half Moon Bay which has an amazing Ocean view, then we go back down to Santa Clara to meet up with the rest of the guys! Couldnt have asked for a better day!
