Review: Harsh Times...

harshtimes.jpg

Christian Bale is one the greatest actors out there right now, he literaly is the character. No matter how you feel towards Christian Bale, you will love to hate him because of the character. This is one movie where you will utterly hate Christian Bale and get very caught up with the whole story. This story is about friends who are trying to find jobs, but they are side tracked because of drinking and smoking up, Bale is in a strange part of his life but he is also very dependent on his friend. Christian Bale is a bastard in this movie that you really want to hate, and his friend is stuck with him. If you like Christian Bale then you have to see this movie, but it is violent so it requires a specific taste.

Review: Nathan’s...

nathans1.jpg

The other day one my friend’s really wanted Nathans and I was thinking about something else but he wanted it so much I said why not. He kept speaking very highly of it especially their hotdog, and he tried in the US saying it was great and asking if I had it in the states, I said I never heard of it before, but by that time I was hungry as hell. When the food arrived we all ordered the same thing, and I was pretty hungry so I had a chilli cheese dog, a cheese burger, and fries.

When I saw it, it didn’t look that impressive but I thought let me taste it before making a decision. The fries weren’t anything special, but they werent bad so just dipped it in ketchup and kept eating. The hotdog was very bland and dry for some reason, I didn’t like it, and that is what I was really looking forward too. The Cheeseburger reminded me of Hungry Bunny for some reason, the only reason it didn’t get a 1 out of 5 was because it reminded me of Hungry Bunny from back in the day. The food wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t what I expected, but it wasn’t good either so I won’t be getting food from their again. There are a lot of better places then that. For a quick chilli dog the one from Hardeez is so much better!

Review: Samurai 7...

samurai7a.jpg

samurai7b.jpg

Plot Summary: A small village is being persecuted by robbers who return every harvest to seize the village’s crops. Faced with starvation, the villagers send out a mission to find and recruit some samurai to defend them. With no pay to offer except rice, and knowing full well that only down-on-their-luck samurai would even consider accepting such an deal, the villagers can only hope that their saviours will appear before the rice is ready for harvest.

You get pulled in by the story of these Samurai, at a time when there no longer were real Samurai. A Samurai isn’t someone who can just weild a sword but someone with honor and strength of character. This anime is nothing short of fantastic and it draws you in with the attention to detail, great sound track, fantastic character development and so much more. Its a great combination of CGI and animation to make a very beautiful anime to view, and the story line keeps you wanting more. I was mesmorized by this anime and I couldn’t stop watching it. It was one of those anime’s that I was saddened that it had come to an end and I really wanted to see more. For an anime it was very realistic, and their were parts where you wish it didn’t happen but thats how reality is, somethings are out of your control. I can’t recommend it enough to any anime fan, it will appeal to all.

Review: The Pursuit of Happyness...

pursuit-of-happyness-2006.jpg

I really enjoy Will Smith movies and he has had a string of good movies, but this movie is completely about the character and how he conveys it. I have to say that you really get into this movie, and especially for me I have a special spot for San Francisco. This man is doing all that he can to keep his family afloat, and things just aren’t working out. He keeps his head and trys to do the best that he can for his son. This is a true life story of Chris Gardner, and the best part of the whole movie is watching Will Smith’s son in his first debut movie. I have to say that the kid is amazing, you really warm up to him and love the adorable guy. This is one of Will Smith’s best you see the side of him we don’t usually see. There is a lot I want to say, but I don’t want to ruin the moviefor anyone. A great story with a lot of heart.

Review: Logitech Z-10...

logitechZ10a.jpg

logitechZ10b.jpg

This is the best 2.0 speakers currently out there with excellent sound quality and some interesting features with a very nice finish. A lot of people do not have space for the large subwoofer that comes with some good speakers and so it’s not easy to find quality 2.0 speakers, but the Z-10s will do the job and more.

Positives:

  • Very god sound quality
  • fits perfectly into place
  • Interface with Windows Media Player
  • Very clean look
  • No Large Subwoofer
  • Very intuitive controls
  • Easily connects headphoens

Negatives:

  • Doesn’t work well with Winamp and thats what I mainly use
  • Needs to be cleaned consistantly
  • Price

Price: $120

Review: Apocolypto...

apocalypto.jpg

Now this was one intense movie, its about Mayans vs. Aztecs from what I could tell. And you are faced but one young man called Jaguar Paw and it follows their way of life and how their way of life is disrupted. What is so intense is how savage they are yet it seems so normal, its not that you get used to seeing it on the screen but you realize that it is a matter of fact issue for them and they do what they have to do to survive. It gets you thinking about past cultures and your own culture of what is considered the norm and thinking if anything is wrong based on people looking at it from the outside. At the same time when you get a feeling for the people in the village you realize there is no difference between them and yourself because you feel you can relate to how they interact. This movie isn’t for the light hearted and I really liked it.

Review: Karas The Prophecy...

karas.jpg

Karas is anime the way God intended: a heady mix of incomprehensible plotting and visual spectacle. Set in the modern day Shinjuku area of Tokyo, the story follows young, skeptical cop Kure Narumi as he joins the Observation Department set up to monitor multi-dimensional demon crime. You still following me?

A battle is taking place between Otoha—the good guy, who is a Karas, or guardian of the people of Tokyo who can take the form of a crow-like flying ninja—and Ekou, the bad guy, who used to be a Karas until he decided that he wanted to take over the world. Muddying the water is Nue, a Mikura (demon) in human form, who once sided with Ekou but is now a renegade, hunting down other Mikura.

This is one hell of a mixed up anime, so fast paced that when its done you really have that confused look on yourself. This movie is an extreme mix of 2D and 3D animation with amazing battle scenes. So much detail has been put into the animation its amazing. The story wasn’t the concentration of the Director when creating this anime, but the animation and attention to detail is key to this story. This is the type of anime which leaves you thinking at the end of it, its very entertaining and fast paced. Your left at the end of it thinking about the whole thinking, but its a visual festival to say the least.

Review: Gridiron Gang...

gridirongang.jpg

This is a true story about kids who have been labeled as criminals and killers who are jailed in a detention center because of their actions on the street. The one who pulls them together is “The Rock” helping them to change and realize that they do have choices in life other then the gangs that they have known all thier lives. The Rock motivates them by molding them into a football team and putting them through tough times and good times. Their new ideals are tested throughout their daily lives and the other teams they face. Its about teaching these kids that they have options and that they don’t have to be at the bottom for the rest of their lives, and The Rock really shows that he cares about these kids and brings them together the only way he knows how. This isn’t a movie just about football, but its about these young men who had their eyes opened by someone who cares about them.

Review: Black Lagoon...

black-lagoon.jpg

Plot Summary: Okajima Rokuro is a Japanese businessman…in a town full of Japanese businessmen. His normal day consists of social drinking with clients and being kicked around by his bosses. He finally gets a break though, as he’s sent by his company to the tropical seas of Eastern China to deliver a disc…only his boat gets hijacked by a band of mercenaries hired to retrieve the disc. “Rock” (as he is newly dubbed by his captors) catches the interest of the only female merc “Revyi” as she thinks he’s worth a ransom, taking him hostage. However, the disc that was stolen has a terrible secret that’s unknown to Rock, which causes massive confusion and chaos for both him…and his kidnappers.

Villains among villains what kind of people would turn out that way and how do they operate in the real world. This is what Black Lagoon brings to you and things just keep getting more and more volatile. Rock is the normal japanese guy who through fate joins the Black Lagoon company. They work as a devliery company in the south east seas and they deal with all kinds of people. With all the different criminal organizations they deal with Rock is still not a Villain and that is something refreshing around there, but there is something inside of him and he opens up his eyes to his world. This is one anime with complex characters and each one has their story. Revy is the nut case in the group who pretty much wants to kill and has the skills to do it, and the way she interacts with Rock is hilarious, but I really do like how this anime developed and the whole story.

Review: Tenchi Muyo GXP...

tenchigxp.jpg

Plot Summary: Seina is unlucky, so unlucky that when he stumbles upon a recruiter looking for his senpai Tenchi he gets taken instead. Forced into the Galaxy police, his luck begins to change. A natural to randomly jumping near pirates, he is assigned his own decoy to draw out pirates. His luck brings him into the lives of four women who have a habit of cancelling out his bad luck, turning it into good. Armed with this luck, they pilot the most powerful ships in the Tenchi Universe to defeat the Barta pirates. Now the only uncertainty is whether the sexy Kanak, a former model turned GXP officer, sturdy Kiriko, who has known Seina for years, the mysterious Ryoko, a former pirate named after the legendary one, or the childish Neiju, a powerful witch, will win Seina.

This is one funny anime with Seina stuck in the middle of it. Everyone revolves around Seina and they are pulled to him because of his honesty, kindness, and shyness. And there is one thing following him around which is his bad luck putting him all kinds of funny situations. He is Tenchi’s cousin so he sees him in the anime, but no big part. His life revolves around the Galaxy Police and his life with the girls that are always around him. It is a great fun anime with a good story line, if you want an anime which will make you laugh and the story will pull you in then I recommend this anime because you can’t help but feel sorry and envy Seina at the same time. Spaceships, battles, embarrassing situations, and more is what makes this anime great!
