Review: National Treasure 2...

nationa-treasure-book-secre.jpg

I’m not the biggest Nicholas Cage fan, over the years I think twice before entering a movie he is in. With National Treasure 2 I wasn’t sure what to expect, and after Ghost Rider I thought it would flop. Turns out I was completely wrong, I enjoyed the first movie and it is rare a second movie surpasses the first one but this did. The clues were fantatstic, you were kept on your toes throughout the movie. Its action packed and I liked the character Cage played as well as the others. The storyline is great, the pace is good, and overall a great movie.

Review: Step Up 2 The Streets...

stepup2a.jpg

I enjoyed the original Step Up and I enjoyed the trailer of Step Up 2 The Streets. This time around its the little girl who grew but she lost her mom and she is being raised by her mom’s friend in the same neighborhood. Dancing in her crew is what she knows, but to stay in Baltimore she has to go to school and the MSA is her only chance in, so she goes to this prep school. Andy thought that she would just go to school to stay in Baltimore but she discovers something about herself and dancing. The story is good, the dancing is great, if you even remotely like RnB & Hip Hop music then you will love this movie. I don’t know how many times I just wanted to jump out of my seat while in the movie, its a great movie for those who love dancing and hip hop. They were dancing in ways I can only imagine, its nothing short of mesmorizing.

Review: Vantage Point...

vantagepoint2.jpg

The President is in Salamanca Spain for a an important conference against terrorism, Barnes (Dennis Quaid) & Taylor (Matthew Fox) are on the President’s Secret Service Duty list. Things start going wrong very quickly when an attempt is made on the President’s life. Lewis (Forrest Whitaker) is standing the crowd with his camera when all this takes place, and he plays an important role to put the pieces together. This event is told from different perspectives of all the people involved and from all these different perspectives you can piece the whole event together. It does get a little repetitive but because of the quality of the actors they keep you enticed throughout the movie, you get more and more clues as to what is going on. The action is non-stop throughout the movie, towards the end you are curiousty is quenched when you have all the pieces in your hand. Its a very well made and thought out movie, the possibility for this movie to flop was high but the director and the team pulled it together perfectly, really worth seeing.

Review: The Bucket List...

thebucketlist1.jpg

Two men leading very different lives, one is a family man who has dedicated all his life supporting his family being a mechanic, and the other man is a self absorbed billionare involved in the making hospitals profitable. Carter (Morgan Freeman) is the family man who discovers he has Cancer and he goes into treatement, he ends up in the same room as Cole (Jack Nicholson) who does nothing but complain about things and makes people’s lives miserable.

thebucketlist2.jpg

Men who don’t have anything in common decide to do the things that they have never done based on this list, the bucket list. Its called the bucket list because its before the list they want to complete before kicking the bucket. Cole and Carter find the middle ground and get to know more about each other, learning more about themselves and about how to live life. A very touching movie with two my favorite actors, I couldn’t help but love the movie because of the story and the characters that they played perfectly.

Review: Zegapain...

This is a different kind of anime, it starts off a bit slow but picks up from there. The anime revolves around Sogoru Kyo, he lives in Maihama but he starts to notice things that don’t make sense in reality. From there he realizes that he is living as data on a server and so are all his friends, all human beings have become apparitions living on this quantum server. They are fighting against the GARMS-ORM, but they aren’t sure of the total picture. Kyo just goes in head strong ready to fight and beat the odds in front of him. He looks like a head strong idiot and that is what is sometimes, but he doesn’t realize how he is key to saving the human race against the GARMS-ORM and the mistake of their past or they will lose the earth. A very well written story, it comes together towards the end, its a bit hard to stick to in the beginning but then things start getting more interesting you and follow it. A good anime with a great ending.

Review: The Myst...

themist1.jpg

I have been looking forward to this movie for some time now, I thought it would just be a regular horror movie but turned out to be a little more then that. David Drayton is living in this town with his family, next to the town is a military base. They had an electrical storm so they had to go into town to get some supplies, when they were in the store a strange mist covered the area around them, some people came screaming from the mist. Something was in the mist and they didn’t know what, creatures were lurking in the mist and they didn’t know what to expect. This turns out to be a good horror movie with an interesting twist, I thought it was going to be ok but it was entertaining with a very good ending. I didn’t know it was based on a Stephen King’s book until the movie finished.

Review: In The Land of Woman...

inthelandofwomen1.jpg

Adam Brody leads an interesting job an LA, then his girlfriend breaks up with him. He feels that he needs to finish something he started over 11 years ago and he needs to get away from where he is, the break up didn’t help either so going away is a solution. He decides to go stay with his grand mother since she is feeling a bit down, he expects to finish writing all that he has wanted to write as well as take care of his grand mother. He gets pulled into the lives of Megan Ryan and her family. Its a heartfelt simple movie that you do like watching and touches people on different levels, its a nice movie which is meant to be connected on an emotional level, not really a Oscar type movie.

Review: Dan in Real Life...

daninreallife1.jpg

I’m a fan of Steve Carrel for a while now, he knows how to bring comedy across just from his facial expressions. In this movie he is playing a man who writes articles in the newspaper for people who have questions regarding parenting and family life. He is the perfect father, handling everything even though his wife recently passed away. Things just seem perfect until the family goes to his parent’s home for a family gathering, the unexpected happens and his real emotions come out. A genuine and entertaining movie to watch, something easy to watch and enjoy.

Review: Operation Typhoon Shore...

operationtyphoonshore1.jpg

I read the first book of this trilogy and I really enjoyed it so I was looking forward to the second book. Becca and Doug were already on the boat with their uncle trying to find the man who stole the Gyrolabs. The story continues in the Islands just off of Singapore, they are about to discover that things have changed with the Guild. Becca and Doug are still searching for their parents, and they are still on their Uncle’s boat but more and more things keep popping up. This book is very well written by Joshua Mowll and it is very realistic to the point I wonder if this really happened, it kept me pulled into the book so much so that I flew threw it looking for what was going to happen next. At this point I want the last book of the trilogy to finish off this great set, I hope its a good ending for all that they have gone through.

Review: Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Bar...

lockstockandtwosmokingbarrels.jpg

What can be said about this movie that hasn’t already been said. A movie written and directed by Guy Ritchie, he made one hell of a movie. Its simple about four London working class guys who pool their money to put one in a high stakes card game, but things go wrong and they end up owing half a million pounds and having one week to come up with the cash. They have an interesting cast with Jason Stathom in the early days, and one of my favorite English Tough guys Vinnie Jones. This movie has different groups of characters who are all committing one sort of crime or another, they all start connecting to the group of idiots who owe half a million pounds. As time progress Tom, Soap, Eddie, and Bacon make a plan to get their money to pay off their debt but they don’t realize how things get triggered from these events. It is hilarious movie that you just can’t get enough of, I was laughing my head off as things progressed from this witty and entertaining movie. Surprisingly this was the first time for me to watch it, and if you haven’t seen it then you should. The reason it turned into a cult classic is because its so damn good, even after 10 years since it came out its great.
