Review: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of...

Harrison Ford is back and kicking as Indiana Jones, jumping in graves and beating people up. How we all remember Indiana Jones so fondly, enjoyed the movies, and wanted more. I have had the boxset since it came out a couple of years ago, so I had high expectations for this movie. From the moment you start watching it you get a complete understanding of the time they are in, and Indiana Jones has grown older you can see it and feel it, it gives an authentic feel to him. As it picks up Shia LaBeouf enters into the movie and he flows perfectly, I really liked the character he played, it added a different flavor to the movie. It was a little bit longer then it should have been but overall it was an Indiana Jones movie, the ending won’t be accepted by everyone but still a damn good movie at that.

Review: Speed Racer...

I heard a lot about this movie, the colorful design, and some critics who weren’t too happy with the movie. After some mixed reviews I didn’t have the highest expectation for this movie, but I am very happy I went into this movie with that attitude. It turned out to be a lot better then I expected, the characters were just as colorful as the whole movie special affects were. You get pulled into the racing nature of the world they live in, you learn how Speed became the driver that he is and what happened to his brother Rex. The stunts in this movie are fantastic, you think it really is speed racer from back in the day. I think they took it one more step which took the movie from good to great, you aren’t just curious about the car, but you get pulled into the dilemma that Speed Racer faces in front of him. The car is pretty cool but the story is that much better, and his brother Spritle and the chimp add a great comic feel to the movie. There is a tone of seriousness in this colorful movie, but you do get up and want speed racer to win every time. If you enjoyed Speed Racer as a kid then you will enjoy this movie, it isn’t for everyone and if you are easily nauseated then don’t watch this movie, for the rest just enjoy the trip.

Review: The Bank Job...

When a small time criminal sees the biggest heist of the century right in front of him, it is just too good to be true. Unbeknown to him he is right in the middle of a very dirty affair, between the highest levels of the UK Government and the lowest vermin of the underworld. Terry (Jason Statham) sees that he and his team could make bundle from this bank heist, Martine is setting up most of the details. The are aiming for the safe deposit boxes with all the daimonds and cash, but they don’t know they contain secrets which everyone is after. The story revolves around a 1970s bank robbery on London’s Baker Street which there are still no details of. The movie is very well made with many twists and turns that keep you glued to the screen. Jason did an excellent job playing terry, with the perfect cast for this movie. I hope keeps making movies of this quality, any person will really enjoy this action packed movie.

Review: School Rumble...

Plot Summary
: Tsukamoto Tenma is an ordinary 2nd year high school student who has fallen in love with one of her classmates, Karasuma Ooji. However, currently she is unable to confess her feelings to him. To make things worse, she found out that Karasuma is transferring to another school in a year. On the other hand, Tenma’s other classmate, Harima Kenji (who is a delinquent) is also in love with Tenma. Not being able to confess his feelings, Harima gets depressed day by day.

There is nothing more entertaining then a very well made story, and the story in this anime is excellent. So many funny characters, and all of them revolve around Tenma. There is a depth of character that you find with all the stories that you go through. There is a love triangle (explained here) that nobody seems to be able to figure out within the group of friends, and then there are all the great fights that is going on. I can’t seem to get enough of these hilarious fights, they start for one reason and by the time they are all done they just can’t remember why they started fighting. So much entertainment in a short anime.

Review: Last Of The Good Guys – Jo...

Starts off in the early 70s with a lot of Italian families just moving into the lives of the Italian culture in that time. The story is told from Marco’s point of view, and he was a young kid that had brains but gets into some trouble. After leaving his home he moves in with his cousin, and they go into the pot selling business with a group of friends. Its a first person narrative organized crime story but with a different twist. You get a feel of the time around them and how things were at the time. The author does a good job of telling the story which is different then usual, but I had higher expectations. There were some parts which get you racing and you keep flipping the page to find out whats coming next. Then there was a period where you felt that the pace slows down too much, it really a little tiring that the pace was not constant so it didn’t captivate me as much as I thought it would. It is a good book, but I do feel there are better organized crime fiction books out there.

Review: Strange Wilderness...

Never did I think that a movie can bring down your IQ level just by watching it. We couldn’t even finish the damn movie it was so ridiculous. Its about some guys who have this nature show, but its more like a bunch of drunk and high guys making a show with some animals with some interesting results. I thought this would be a funny movie from the cast, but it was one of the worst of all time.

Review: Doomsday...

I have been waiting for this movie for some time, thinking its going to be a some thing like resident evil with some cool action. Then there was Rhona Mitra, who is very hot which is another positive aspect of this movie. I was sorely disappointed with this movie, it went from an action movie such as 28 weeks later to crazy world such as Espcape from New York, then jumped into Castles and Fortresses such as Robin Hood. I didn’t know where they were going with it, but it was a roller coaster and I kept looking at my watch. If you haven’t seen this movie, then don’t, it isn’t the worst movie out there, but it could have been a lot better.

Review: Madonna Hard Candy...

I knew Madonna was going to release another album but I wasn’t too hyped up about it, I knew it was supposed to be good, there wasn’t too much hype about it. After listening to the CD several times now, I think that its one of her best Albums yet, and there is a reason for that. Timbaland, Kanye West, and Pharrel are involved in the production of the songs, as well as participation from them in the songs and including Justin Timberlake. Hard Candy is just a compilation of music which has taken it to a different level, very unique songs, amazing beats, and keeps you going. I still have the CD on repeat after a week now and I still haven’t gotten remotely bored. Now there is that Madonna concert by the end of this year that is probably going to be packed even faster because of this album.

Review: Ironman...

This movie is everything it promised and more, I have been waiting over a year to see this movie and it was well worth it. I have been a fan of Ironman from the early 90s reading the Marvel comics, he was a superhero you feel you could reach since he was human and developed the technology to able to fight.

I was afraid when I heard Robert Downey Jr. was chosen as Tony Stark, in the comics Tony Stark was this genius who was also troubled, always trying to help and push himself to his limit, he is a solitary man with two lives. Robert Downey Jr. did an amazing job playing Tony Stark, he gave a certain flare to Tony’s darkness which I thought was excellent. The movie was executed perfectly, there was a perfect mix of special effects, it wasn’t overboard. The movie was perfect, you are satisfied with the movie and enjoyed it, but you are left wanting more. Stay after the credits there is a surprise which isn’t to be missed, can’t wait for the next Ironman.

Review: Phillips VOIP 841...

I have been using this phone for a few weeks now and I used every feature it has. I tend to make a lot of phone calls to the US and UK, and some of those phone calls last over an hour. When talking to technical service of some kind you stay on hold for the longest time. The best solution for my needs was Skype, but the most annoying part for me about using Skype is having to use the computer.

A basic breakdown of Skype, its an internet based solution for Skype to Skype calls, and Skype to Normal Lines call. With the normal lines you have to pay a very small fee, and with a dedicated land line number in the US which is a one time fee. Now Skype offers Unlimited World Calls and Unlimited Country calls for a small fee as well. But I’m not here to review Skype but this Phillips Voip Phone.

Pros

  • All your contacts integrate from Skype when you login, any changes to Skype contacts online will be reflected on the phone
  • Very good quality of sound with Skype, good quality with land line, I was surprised that land line quality was worse then the Skype. Some people thought I was calling from within the US
  • Very good battery life lasted a couple of days on standby, and a couple of hours of talk time
  • Good with conference calls
  • No dropped calls with all my calls lasting over 30 minutes
  • Very loud speaker
  • Works with headsets
  • Reasonable Price

Cons

  • The phone design is nice but after long use it isn’t the most comfortable in your hand
  • No Volume Control
  • No manual and bad Phillips Support (Lots of Online Support from Forums)

Overall I think it is a fantastic purchase, and if anyone is looking for a Skype solution then this is your phone, better then any solution I have seen yet.

Price: $120
