Review: iPod Touch Xtand...

I always update my iPod Touch with updated playlists or new songs, I keep pulling it out of the car or to update the songs. The hardest thing is finding the good songs in that huge list, and so playlists are the way to go and perfect when driving. I keep one iPod Classic 160 GB in the Landcruiser with all the videos to enjoy on the screen. I was looking for a good stand, and this was the one I chose, the Xstand for the iPod Touch.

Summary:

  • Fits the iPod Touch pefrfectly but not with a cover.
  • They give you the rubber ends of the iPhone so you can replace and use it for the iPhone.
  • Very sleek, made out of aluminum, and rubber pads at the bottom.
  • An easy way to wire and charge the iPod.
  • You can rotate the mount to be vertical or horizontal.
  • Its a bit pricey but worth it for a clean sleek stand.

Review: Outlander...

After following this monster across the galaxy Kanon crashes into Earth, into the Era of the Vikings. He must kill the monster that wiped out his people and nothing is stopping in his way. These Vikings have their way and they have never seen anything like this, and they are have tried fighting it every way they know how, yet it somehow still survives and thrives. An action packed story which doesn’t stop, and throughout the movie you are entertained. It is a bit long but I really enjoyed all the action, if you are looking for a good action packed adventure movie then this is it.

Review: Ptolemy’s Gate – Jon...

A wild imagination is needed for this book, it draws all the images of history together tying it together to Nathanial’s present predicament. The third book of Bartimaeus Trilogy, it is amazing climax to the end of the trilogy. Each book of this trilogy has amazing characters, a colorful and historical storyline, pulling together so many interesting magical characters throughout history and giving you a different view of them and their characters. The last of the trilogy keeps the adventure and mystery going while answering so many questions that have developed since starting this trilogy years ago. It took me a long time to finish this trilogy, I think its because I didn’t want to finish it since I enjoyed it so much. I wouldn’t want to ruin the book or the trilogy for anyone, but if you like fantasy then you will love this book, the ending left me wanting more but still satisfied. Its difficult to find books as good as these.

Review: Punisher War Zone...

Its rare that I don’t write a review about a movie, but this movie I just had to. I’m a huge fan of all movies made from comic stories, and I loved the original Punisher with the original Frank Castle. If your a fan then this movie is going to hurt, I don’t even know what Marvel were thinking when they were making this movie. It was just ridiculous from the beginning of the movie, if you haven’t seen it then don’t watch it and if you want to laugh for 10 minutes then just watch the first 10 minutes and stop!

Review: Role Model...

The movie starts with Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (Sean William Scott) going to various high schools and colleges. Wheeler is dressed up in a minotaur suit and Danny tells all of the students to skip drugs, and instead have some of the energy drink Minotaur. Danny actually thinks Minotaur is made of acid, because it is the most disgusting thing he has ever tasted.

I honestly think Sean William Scott is one of the funniest actors around, he brings the characters and story to life and in this movie he is the perfect fit. Somehow they get into a lot of trouble and the only way to stay out of jail is to get good word in to the judge from the head of a Sturdy Wings, a kids big brother group. They are probably the worst big brothers a kid can have and the little kid is funny as hell. This comedy keeps getting better and better as time went by. If you haven’t seen then you are missing out, the laughs won’t stop.

Review: Juusou Kikou Dancouga Nova...

Plot Summary: In the year 2104, lots of local armed conflicts threaten the world peace. Soon, however, a new force appears: Dancouga, a gigantic super robot or uncertain origin. It appears out of nowhere and always aids the losing side. Its true objectives are unknown. At some point, four absolutely unrelated people, Aoi Hidaka, Kurara Tachibana, Sakuya Kamon, and Johnny Burnette, are invited by an organization that claims to be behind Dancouga… as its pilots. From there on, their search for the truth behind Dancouga’s mission and the battle to end all wars begin.

An odd team put together to fight in a giant robot, who could go wrong with something like that. I was looking for a simple Anime which had lots of robot fights and was entertaining, Dancouga Nova did the job. Don’t expect anything too great from it, the story line is a bit chopped up, there is a lot of fan fare but the music oddly was pretty good. A fun anime to watch if you need time to kill.

Review: Pizza Rustica...

I have been hearing about this restaurant for sometime now but I didn’t have the chance to eat there yet. So instead of not eating there at all I decided to order pick up and bring it home. Walking into the mall I knew it was in the food court section but on the left side, I just kept walking until I found it. Oddly enough Avenues was empty, I thought it gets pretty full at night.

The place was relatively empty about 10% full out of all the tables. I took a menu and was approached by the waitress right away, I ordered one margaritta pizza, one quattro formagio pizza, one pepproni pizza, and lasagna bolognese. The lasagna for me, and all of this was to go. I told them to make sure it was done right and they will get comments from me one way or another. I have to say the manager was very nice and helpful, and made sure my order was taken care of. The chef on hand is a chef who used to work at the Harrods Pizzeria, the menu is also identical to the Harrods Pizzeria, and the furniture in the restaurant is an exact duplicate especially oven and cooking area.

They packaged it all together and ready to go, the packaging for the lasagna was a bit dissapointing since it looked like it will lose the heat quickly. So I took off home to make sure everything stays warm, I didn’t even switch on the A/C or air circulation.

As soon as I got home I put the lasagna in a plate and heated it up, thats why it looks displaced in the pictures due to my slight mishandling. One thing is for sure, their food is amazing, the pizza tasted great and fresh, the lasagna was amazing. I will be going to have dinner there soon to have the full experience, but as of now I really recommend people to go there.

Review: What Just Happened?...

DeNiro plays the Hollywood producer at the end of his line and he has to get this right or his career is done. In Hollywood those who reach the top can fall so quick, and DeNiro is trying to get back on the saddle in this movie. DeNiro plays a very calm character who handles his problems but luck doesn’t seem to be on his side, with so many wives I don’t know how he isn’t insane. It is an interesting movie with an outlook to the other side of the Glamorous life in Hollywood, but the movie is just a little too slow and disconnected for my tastes. It could have been a little better with a little more emotion and less number of characters in the movie.

Tumi External Drive...

I haven’t had much luck with external drives recently, most of them would fail after some time or they can’t take large files which was very annoying.

I got this external drive on sale at Tumi in the states, about 30% off. It is a relatively small, and designed with compact travel in mind. Overall I am enjoying the use of this little drive

Pros:

  • Compact (7cm x 5cm x 1cm).
  • Very light
  • Has a carrying case
  • USB wire tucks right into the hard drive case, but a little short
  • Can take some decent drops without a problem

Cons:

  • Price a bit high
  • Only 60 GB
  • Transfer speed is a bit slower then your average external portable hard drive

Review: The Day The Earth Stood Still...

Keanu Reeves is Klaatu, an alien sent to earth to judge the humans and the state of things on earth. If humans are fit to live or the earth has to be reborn again. I’m not the biggest fan of Keanu Reeves but he played this alien character pretty damn well, and Jennifer Connelly is the human scientist who connects with him and trying to help him understand that humans aren’t all that bad. I have to say that I like that big alien robot and it takes an interesting twist, its a fun movie to watch, nothing too special but if you liek Sci-Fi then this is for you.
