Review: True Blood...

Its rare that a show with such freaky ideas such as this can come along still have some degree of reality in it. On another note the only place this show can air on is on HBO or Showtime because it would probably R or X rated for the sexual content and blood spilling all over the place. A hill billy town in Lousiana and Sookie Stackhouse is a waitress in the local bar with some very interesting characters, mainly vampires have come out into the public realm and are looking for rights just like humans. Something is a little different with Sookie, and a lot is going on in this town. At first I wasn’t too keen on the show but episode after episode, you just can’t stop watching and the way they present these interesting creatures is so very realistic that you can accept it. A show worth taking a look at and I can’t wait for the next season.

Review: The International...

There is a lot more going on with this IBBC then you can see on the surface, the IBBC is a major International Bank providing financial services and brokering deals for countries and organizations. Clive Owen is Louis Salinger and he has been after the IBBC for years but he has faced obstacle after obstacle with witnesses being killed and the case being stonewalled. It’s an action passed movie with so many conspiracies tied together, a great movie with Clive Owen doing a superb job.

Review: Rideback...

Plot Summary
: In a future world where an organization called the GGP has taken control of the world, Rin Ogata was a promising up-and-comming ballet dancer, but suffered a serious injury and decided to quit. Years later in college she comes across a club building and soon finds herself intrigued by a transforming motorcycle like vehicle called a Rideback. She soon finds that her unique ballet skills with balance and finesse make her a born natural on a Rideback.

You get caught up with this anime after the first episode, who wouldn’t like motorcycles that turn into robots. These machines are called Ridebacks and Ogata Rin who is a prodigy ballet dancer had accident so she is unable to continue her after from. When she gets on the Rideback she feels that it is an extension of her will, to perform the way she wants and it responds. Some how things get escalated between her and the GPP who are trying to take Japan completely over, but it doesn’t work out too nicely. A fast paced anime with robots flying and riders riding, a simple fun anime which gets you hooked right away.

Review: Terminator Salvation...

I have been waiting months to see this movie and it turned out a little different then I expected. Christian Bale played the role of the tormented fighter who is at the edge of humanity, and he has hope that humanity will prevail against the machines, he was perfect for John Connor. This movies’ action scenes were pretty cool, even though it felt like they were trying to tell more of story then the whole action packed theme of the Terminator franchise. Terminator 2 was the most memorable for me, Terminator 3 was a major disappointment but Terminator Salvation did an excellent job with a combination of the story and action.

So many robots, and ties back to the past with a few tapes of Sarah Connor telling John all that she knows so he may make his way. The ending though still leaves it open for another sequel, this isn’t a blockbuster like Batman Begins and Iron Man but a movie really worth watching.

Review: Fired Up...

Two guys who only became athletes so they can meet girls, this time around they found the perfect formula. Fired Up University with 300 girls to try their luck with, so they joined the cheer leading squad. One guy is more your typical hunter who looks for every girl and the other is the thinker of the team. They end up with so many girls, trying to so many tricks and lines to get the girls and most of it works. These guys are just hilarious trying to be cheerleaders while trying to get these girls. If your looking for a movie with lots of laughs then this is it, its a typical movie but these guys make for some pretty funny characters.

Review: Dragonball Evolution...

I don’t know what to say, it was as bad as I thought except that I was laughing a lot. I couldn’t believe how they messed up the storyline and wanted to make characters as insane as the Anime. Dragonball has developed a cult following who are dedicated to the whole anime and know the story inside out, the studio wanted to cash on this so they made a movie which is bombed at the box office. This whole movie was really cheesy and the hair styles were priceless.

Review: Crank High Voltage...

Chelios faces a Chinese mobster who has stolen his nearly indestructible heart and replaced it with a battery-powered ticker that requires regular jolts of electricity to keep working.

I enjoyed the crank because it was a high adrenaline action packed movie with a crazy storyline, and this picks up exactly where the other one left off. Somehow Chelios (Jason Statham) has survived his fall from 14’000 feet, and this time his heart has been taken by the triads and he only has a certain amount of power in the artificial heart, and he needs to keep charging it, any way he can find. This movie should be given a rating higher then R, its ridiculous, its hilarious, explosions, guns, the whole insanity of it is nonstop and pretty much nobody can stop Chelios, he is a killing machine who is out to complete his goal. If you want to watch a movie which requires little to no brain activity, but gets your blood pumping and your laughing your head off then this is it. The best part is the whole ridiculous story, and it even has an ending just as crazy as the first one. Be warned its not for the feint of heart.

Review: Fringe...

There have been very few shows that have set itself at the top such as this. Fringe is the best Sci Fi Drama show to air on television period. The characters are very interesting, the storyline is fantastic, you never have a dull episode. Every time I watched an episode I enjoyed it immensely but at the same time I was left with more questions, where was it going, who is in charge, what was going on, what can happen next. The best part is that what ever was happening is usually explained to a degree or is a part of science that can be explained, but such advances in human test subjects that you only here of in secret testing facilities. All this is packed into one hell of a show, the season finale left me wanting more, I didn’t even know it was the season finale until it was too late, what a great ending, I really can’t wait for season 2 to start.

Review: Eyeshield 21...

Plot Summary: Kobayakawa Sena is a little guy who always get picked on by the bullies in school. Since elementary school, he always play the role of the ‘errand boy’ to the extent that he has become swift and fast in his movements. Coincidentally, Hiruma Youichi and Kurita Ryukan are looking for a fast running back for their American Football team (Amefuto) and want to put Sena in the team. To hide their new ‘star’ player from the eyes of other High Schools, Hiruma encases Sena in a Amefuto helmet with a dark visor and name him Eyeshield #21.

After 145 episodes at last Eyeshield 21 has come to an end, and what an adventure it was. I feel like I went through all this adventure with the whole Deimon Devil Bats team, I know them by heart, their positions, their numbers, and their personalities. My favorite is Hiruma because he is insane and always pushing his team, then there is Sena, Monta, Kurita, and then all the other amazing players from the other teams. I love American Football, probably the only sport that I love playing and watching so much. I could connect with Sena Kobayakawa since he is the amazing running back of the Deimon Devil Bats, the invincible Eyeyshield 21. I played the running back position so I could relate to him but I wasn’t fast, I was only good at taking a beating from the other teams tacklers. Watching the last episode of the anime felt like saying good bye to a group of friends, so many ups and downs, you felt happy from every episode, they fought so many battles with so many teams and improving their skills just so they could beat Ojou White Knights and head towards the Christmas Bowl. So many different characters and so much fun, you would really relate to any number of them, especially through all the hardships they went through to get to the top. I’m not sure if there is going to be anything after this but even after so many years I still want to see more of Eyeshield 21.

Review: Angels & Demons...

Another one of Dan Browns’ amazing stories has been turned into a movie, the first one was a great movie but could have been better. This time around I think Ron Haword did an amazing job with the storyline and keeping it as close as possible to the book as possible when it comes to all the clues and people, the storyline doesn’t feel split up at all, its just one continuous adventure with one big surprise after another. This time around I didn’t feel that Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) was the only main character you also had Vittoria Vetra the scientist who is also piecing things together, and another character who has to deal with what is going on in the Vatican, Camerlengo Patrick McKenna (Ewan McGregor). The movie has its unexpected twist and turns, keeps you on your toes, and you get a glimpse of the history and life of Vatican City. Its not just about the clues, its action paced as well with so much going on in all parts of the city, I didn’t even know the Swiss Guard had so much jurisdiction in Italy. I really recommend this movie, but I’m assuming if watched in Kuwait it will be really chopped up because it has so many religious references.
