Fat Burger in Mahbola – Damn Good...

There were announcements all over the blogs that Fat Burger was open, and officially open by last Thursday. I had the chance to get a bite and I was hungry so we decided to get a bite from Fat Burger, and that was a very good decision. The building is located in a new complex on the seaside just a little before Alia & Ghalia Tower.

The Fat Burger is a bit bigger then normal and very spacious with lots of seating, you can see the order counter on the upper floor. The same menu and same cheer when they repeat the orders. My standard order is a double with cheese, lettuce, onions, and extra ketchup. A very simple and clear order, I will know right away if this is the same one I have been having every time I set foot in Dubai. The order came within 10 minutes, we had skinny fries with the order, I finished my fries first because I don’t like cold fries and I wanted to enjoy my burger.

I unwrapped the burger and pour a little ketchup on the lettuce, closed it up and go it ready for the big bite. It is just as good as before, a fresh tasting burger that I kept having every time I go to Dubai Mall. I devoured the sandwich, I almost bit my fingers off it tasted so good and its been a while since I had a Fat Burger burger. If you haven’t had it then you shouldn’t miss it, and its located in a nice new complex, it winter that place is going to be packed for sure. Lets just hope they maintain the quality, I know I’m going back there soon.

Review: Zotac H55ITX-A-E Core i3 Motherb...

There are a lot of motherboards out there these days, some more powerful then the other. Its really a huge selection of bords chips and ram. I’m always looking for a perfect combination for a Home Theater PC, something just strong enough to play HD video without any glitches and small enough not to look obtrusive next to your tv. To have both strong machine and a small HTPC you need to start off with the mother board, and for this case the Zotac Motherboard was perfect for the job.

The Mini iTX motherboard can fit in any case no matter how small it is, and for a small motherboard it packs a lot of features. Its an Intel Core i3 motherboard, meaning that this little guy can pack a punch, and it has a lot of features. I installed 4GB GSkill Ram which really did the job, I played everything possible on it and it handled it without a hitchYou seriously couldn’t ask any more from such a board, if media playback is your task then this is the best board.

Pros:

  • HDMI output with Audio output included, unlike other HDMI output Graphics Cards
  • 10 USB slots, how many more could you want
  • Built-in Wifi
  • Small footprint – Mini iTX
  • Plays 1080p, 720p, and BluRay without an issue
  • Very reasonable price

Review: Despicable Me...

In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru, planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon.

The world’s greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.

I’m a big fan of Steve Carrel so I was looking forward to the movie, but wasn’t expecting it to be this good. Gru is trying to be the most evil genius the world, and he just can’t seem to get there. Now Gru is funny, but his minions are hilarious, I mean they are just a bunch of funny creatures who live their lives as minions and funny lives. Throw the kids into the mix and it just gets even funnier, they hit Gru where he doesn’t expect, and its a hell of an adventure. After watching this movie, everyone is going to want a minion, I want a few.

Review: Needless...

Plot Summary: In the near future, mankind has suffered from a Third World War, leaving extreme damage all over and forced mankind to become even more distinct from their species. The world was at chaos and from this chaos comes a new species: “Needless”. The Needless are humans who have contracted a “disease” as humans may call them, and allow them to wield extraordinary powers far superior to any mankind. Their abilities include Telekinesis, elemental powers, gravity control, adaptation, radioactive release and all manners of scientific impossibility.

After a catastrophic event in Tokyo there became a no mans land in the middle of Tokyo, and the people who were in the middle of that zone were on their own. People started developing different powers, from telekinesis, to super speed, to super strength. Adam Blade is that funny crazy character who doesn’t stop fighting for what he thinks is right and he is also powerful and an idiot. Its a funny show but lacking a good story, it starts off pretty good but you never really get pulled in, the characters just don’t develop that you know them, you enjoy it you laugh but the ending and the whole thing just doesn’t feel satisfying once your done.

Review: Inception...

In a world where technology exists to enter the human mind through dream invasion, a single idea within one’s mind can be the most dangerous weapon or the most valuable asset.

From the Director of Batman Begins and The Dark Night comes Inception, all thought up in Christoper Nolan’s noggin. A very crazy movie that bends your mind and unexpected script with amazing actors, its not what I expected since I didn’t have any expectations going into the movie. Christoper Nolan has came through with another break through again, an unexpected summer blockbuster, I love that the trailers don’t say much, for once some movies are leaving you with space to be surprised, and this movie was exciting to say the least. Its a thrill ride of a movie, its The Matrix meets Oceans Eleven, trying to do the impossible in world where nothing is impossible, and the ending was fantastic, you don’t know the definite ending but you leave excited and satisfied.

Review: UnThinkable...

A psychological thriller centered around a black-ops interrogator and an FBI agent who press a suspect terrorist into divulging the location of three nuclear weapons sets to detonate in the U.S. Samuel L. Jackson is the lead interrogator, Carrie-Anne Moss is Agent Brody of the FBI, and Michael Sheen is the American bred terrorist who is also ex-special forces. This is a very intense thriller that presents the questions you always think about, what limits would the US Government go to, to protect itself. You are torn between Agent Brody who is trying to stop the torture, and “H” who is the lead interrogator and uses every means possible to find out the information, you think they reached a limit but they never do, and the expect happens at different times again and again. A thriller movie that has to be seen, and the ending is a good one.

Le Gray – Beirut...

I had a quick to Beirut, I was recommend to stay at the new hotel Le Gray, and I’m very happy I did. This is probably of the most unique hotels that I have stayed in, and excellent service. I do enjoy boutique hotels, and try them whenever I have a chance, and in this case its an amazing hotel. Its an 87 room hotel with a restaurant, cigar lounge, pool and bar up top. I really liked how quite the hotel was when you are on the room floors, and the rooms are huge.

I booked an executive suite since it was the only room available, everything else was booked. The location of the hotel is fantastic as well, you are in the Solidaire area,
able to walk to so many restaurants and places to shop. If you are up for the swim the pool has an amazing view and slightly on the scary side.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, you feel like you are in some European country when your inside the hotel. When I love about Beirut is that they have really improved the areas around the buildings, its a gradual improvement but it keeps getting better, and its always an active city.

The room is very wide and open with lots of amenities, and I really like the modern style of the hotel. There is free wireless internet all over the hotel, and in your room you have a very good A/V system that I hooked up my iPod to listen to the music in my room. there is also a free fresh coffee machine for those who like coffee, and the bathroom is fantastic. Then the room service is just something else, morning breakfast was exquisite and so was midnight sandwich, there food just tastes so good, and probably one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. If I have a chance to go back to Beirut I would like to stay in that hotel for a longer period, its a bit more on the expensive side but its worth it for an amazing experience.

Review: The Losers...

The Losers is about a team of mercenaries who wage war on the CIA after they’re double-crossed in the field and left to die. Aisha convinces Clay and his team to start back up again to take down those who framed them, and that means waging war against the CIA. The story is simple with the team trying to put things back together and trying to find the guy that double crosses them. An action packed fun movie with lots of explosions to enjoy, while trying to get revenge they have to stop this nut case from starting the next war. The best part about this movie was Jensen (Chris Evans), he was the comic relief throughout the movie, lots of funny moments with bullets flying and a lot of fun overall.

Review: Hot Tub Time Machine...

This is one of the comedies I have been waiting for and it completely lived up to my expectations, there were great moments and many moments of gut wrenching laughter. Four guys get into the bathtub in a broken down ski town to end up in their past, in 1986 to be exact, and they don’t what the hell to do. Its hilarious what these guys go through, John Cusak played the solid guy with a crappy life while Clark Duke (Jacob), Craig Robinson (Nick Webber), and Rob Corddry (Lou) have the more comedic parts, and their parts are hilarious, especially Nick and Lou. The story just flows and its funny, the music is fantastic, all the great music from the 80s that you enjoy is played perfectly in this movie, gets you jumping, and you will love the band scene towards the end if you haven’t seen it. And I just loved the ending of the movie, you wouldn’t want it any other way.

Review: The Karate Kid...

A lot of remakes have been made recently, and Karate Kid was at the top of my list. I’m a huge fan of Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith has a lot of potential. The story of a kid moving to China from Detroit and having no friends and doesn’t speak Chinese. Jaden plays the role of the kid who gets beat up and learns Kung Fu from Jackie Chan to face his fears and beat everyone. The story is told a different way then the original but I like the route they took, makes it less cheesy and pulls you into the story. I was a bit annoyed with some of the supporting characters, they should have been a little bit more colorful, a little bit more attitude. The relationship between Jackie Chan and Jaden in the movie as Master and Student is great, with the right amount of humor. And the fighting is pretty good, you could tell he went through a lot of training, I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but it was a funny movie to watch, I wanted it to be better but I had high expectations, still a fun movie to watch.
