Metroid – For Real!...

Swedish student Jenni Källberg – otherwise known as the world’s greatest Metroid cosplayer – is back, taking imitation of Nintendo’s sci-fi starlet to a whole new level.

I always thought of Metroid being a guy, then I realized that in the game that Metroid is a female. And just like the game a cosplayer from Sweden has perfected the Metroid in both of their forms. It takes a lot of dedication to make a real life suit identical to the game, and she has put some effort into it, and the photography work is excellent.

Photography Ban In Kuwait – False...

Now this is an interesting development, it seems that the article published by the Kuwait times was a mistake. I previously posted about the article about a week ago, and I was infuriated, I couldn’t believe that could be enforced or let alone happen in Kuwait. Well I am thankful that it was a mistake based on Kuwait Times’ retraction below and I hope a law such as this is never even considered. Check out the article in the ArabTimes talking specifically about Photography and our Civil Liberties. Link: ArabTimes

On Saturday, November 20, 2010 the Kuwait Times published an article titled ‘Multi ministry camera ban frustrates artists’ in which incorrect information was provided. The newspaper regrets failing to verify the information. The article wrongly stated that a ban on DSLR cameras was implemented by the Ministries of Information, Social Affairs and Finance. This information is false. In a follow up investigation, it was proved that no such ban has been issued. We regret this error and deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you Moayad

Millenium Falcon Found in Dubai...

Looks like we have found the Millenium Falcon and its being built right next to Emirates Towers. The All Terrain Armored Transport or AT-AT of the Empire coming out of the mist in a Dubai intersection looks like it is ready to to some damage. I don’t know where these photographs originate from as I don’t read Japanese as of yet but I love them, especially the construction yard ones.

Light Graffiti Cars...

Marc Cameron and Mark Brown have a talent with cameras and lights. Over the years I have seen people make funny objects from light photography and some very skilled pictures, but these guys took it to another level. With lots of very enticing vehicles like the Ariel Atom, Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren MP4-12C, and even the VW Scirocco. With enhanced light, clean lines, and elite motors they have come up with some amazing images. I wish I had the skills to even come up with images such as these but it takes time to perfect it, but if you wanted any of these images on your wall they are available for sale if you click the link below. car images?

Photography Ban In Kuwait...

KUWAIT: After the ban three ministries placed on photography, most Kuwaiti youth are a bit confused about what to do with their cameras if they can’t use them in public and why such laws were implemented in the first place. The Ministry of Information, Ministry of Social Affairs and Ministry of Finance recently came to the conclusion that photography should be used for journalism purposes only. This has resulted in the ban of Digital Single Lens Reflex Cameras (DSLRs) in public, on the streets and in malls

Shock and disappointment are the only two words that can describe how I feel when I read the title. A lot of countries have problems in the Middle East and our problems in Kuwait are piling up, but I always have hope, that things will get better that there will be a point for things to turn around. At this point I don’t think we can he any lower, we have hit rock bottom when three Ministries who have nothing to do with each other can decide to just Ban Photography of all kinds. And this is assuming that the law is enacted already, I hope it is not and still there is a chance to have it repelled. I always thought that Kuwait always had something to look forward to, to move ahead, even when we haven’t any major projects for the past decade, the nonstop cases of corruption and nobody getting prosecuted. The one thing I thought we had and that I am proud of is our Civil Liberties, and we pride ourselves with it. When Saudi Arabia is on an uphill battle trying to improve people’s lives and gain more freedom we are heading in the opposite direction. I always wondered what the thought was behind UAE blocking Flickr but now we have surpassed both Emirates and Saudi with the most idiotic law possible. Banning it in public places, in streets, and in malls, doesn’t this law sound illegal to anyone, and malls are private entities so it is illegal for such a law to affect them in this way. So what is the punishment for breaking this law? Getting thrown in jail? I honestly won’t be stopping my photography missions in Kuwait anytime soon. If you are against then please make your voice heard!

Swedish Military...

SwedishShooter

Now I wouldn’t want to get on this woman’s bad side, didn’t know Sweden had an female military on the front line in Afghanistan. She seems to be having a very intense moment with her gun, and looks like she knows how to use it. It takes a skilled photographer to get a natural shot like that.

Burrad Lucas @ Falkland Islands...

Burrad Lucas are two brothers how are very interested in photography and took it seriously around 2004. Their photographs and ideas are fantastic, I love their work and some amazing shots. They seem to love animal photography and they even came up with ingenious ideas to get up close and personal with some scary creatures without exposing themselves to danger. These photographs were of the Falkland Islands which is in the South Atlantic, and I just love Penguins and Seals. I always wished I could have a pet penguin but its very hard to find one. That rockhopper penguin looks like its about to smack the guy behind the camera.

Joby Gorillapod Focus Tripod With Ballhe...

It really seems that Joby took off with the Gorillapod, people are loving the product and its a little bit more professional then the previous models but still funky and flexible to use. The size has increased because this is targeted to fully fledged DSLRs with their extra batteries and lenses which add up to a lot of weight. The Joby Gorillapod Focus Tripod meant for dSLR (or any camera or camcorder), and then the add-on Joby Ballhead X adjustable mount specially made for the Gorillapod Focus.

This is meant for all types of surfaces with the octopus type tentacles to stabilize the DSLR at the perfect creative angle for your shot. These Dr Octopus tentacles make it quite literally, the most flexible-bendable, go anywhere tripod ever. Alone, it can hold something stead which is up to 5kg. It has a basic universal mount on it, but if you want more adjustability akin to something on a more traditional professional tripod, then you’ll want the Ballhead X mount. Unlike the regular Ballhead, the Ballhead X can support up to 5 Kilograms as well.

I have had a Gorillapod Tripod for a few years now and I carry it with me everywhere, its not my only tripod and but its the perfect addition, and great for those odd moments where you need it for the creative shot. Its the perfect extra tripod for the photography enthusiast. These flexible tripods simply come in too handy, and once you have one to use, you’ll never want to be without it when the need arises. The Joby Gorillapod Focus retails for $99.95 and the Ballhead X mount is an additional $69.95. I already preordered mine, I especially love the Ballhead X Mount.

San Francisco From The Top...

One of my favorite cities in the world is San Francisco, and it has a lot of meaning to me. I spent a long time living in the Bay Area with a lot of great friends, and it still wasn’t enough. Every time I see pictures I remember some of the crazy stuff we did. Then there were the comedy clubs, and the fantastic steak houses, probably the best in the world. I remember riding in the city, always going to the city on my bike because its easier to find parking. I woud use any excuse to ride to the city, I remember going once on the bike just to go pick up tickets for the D L Hughley from Cobbs Comedy Club, there were limited tickets and I knew they were going to sell out. Lots of intersections with roads with high inclines and declines, I remember one time going pretty fast on the bike that I jumped across the intersection and I was freaked out and loved it. A city so much good food you have so many places to choose from. Click on the link below for larger pictures.
