Dubai Building A Big Bridge...

archbridgedubai1.jpg

Dubai is filling up with big buildings, all of them going for different records. At this point they are now going for a very big bridge. At 1.6 kilometer long and 205 meter tall, double arched which is scheduled to finish in 2012 at a cost of $817 Million. I wonder where they plan on building this, and how is this going to affect traffic.

huricane.jpg

This is whats taking place of the Indian Ocean and the route its taking its going to hit Oman hard on Thursday, then it will head into the Gulf crossing into Iran. The winds are in excess of 260 KPH (160 MPH) and it is the most powerful hurricane to hit this region since 1945.

They will be evacuating people from the coastal areas of Oman, and this is rated as a Category 5 hurricane which is the most powerful kind.

Regarding the name, my cousin changed it from Gonu to Sabeecha since its going for Oman, so its Hurricane Sabeecha from now on.

Sceintology?!?...

scientology.JPG

Everyone hears about it here and there especially when you see Tom Cruise or John Travolta. I think they have championed Scientology and trying to get it into everyone’s head yet they are so secretive.

A BBC report John Sweeney went undercover to investigate them and it seems he was being brainwashed by them even though it was just an article he was doing. He gives a larger breakdown of what these people are up to and the things that happen seem unreal.

From what I have understood its a “pay as you go cult,” not that I know everything about it but every time when you read something about them they seem to be a little on the nuttier side then most people. They are also out to destroy all psychiatrists, saying the psychiatry kills which makes no sense.
To go up on the religious level and to find out more information about the truth to the religion you have to make large donations. And then you find out that an alien named Xenu put some particles here over 75 million years and things went from there.

Also when ever someone joins the Scientology religion they send the disconnects to their family and friends, and they never contact them again.

If you are looking to their religion and trying to find out information they chase you away and make sure you are harrased in every form yet they won’t admit to it. They have a lot of money because of the advancement process which is tied to the donation process.

The article puts a lot of things to light, and its really worth a read if your interested in just knowing about them.

Consumer Electronics Show...

This is probably one of the best conventions out there for the gadget freak. Every possible manufacturer will be debuting their new products and new technology they will be rolling out later in the year. Every gadget you can imagine and more then your eye can see and you would probably max out your credit cards and empty out all your savings and you still wouldn’t get all you want. The best thing about it is getting you hands on all the gadgets and getting to play around as well as all the fantastic anouncements. If you ever get a chance to go then you should go.

It takes place at the beginning of every year at the Las Vegas Convention Center, and below is the general topics which are covered.

  • Audio
  • Emerging Technology
  • Gaming
  • High Performance Audio and Home Theater
  • Home Networking
  • Home Theater and Video
  • More Electronics
  • Wireless

I just hope to be able to go one day.

Real Hero...

train_rails.jpg

There is an everyday hero in all of us, and this person is a real hero. He jumped into an extremely dangerous situation without knowing his odds of survival to protect a person he didn’t know while his own  young daughters were watching. There is nothing more that can be said except God bless people like him. www

*Travel Update IV*...

Thanks to MSB for emailing me this document.

All the peopel traveling to or through Heathrow airport should take a look at this document. It has all the details about toiletries, what you can and can’t take with you. Baby food, electronics, and pretty much everything you can think of. This document was made by the BAA (Airport Security Regulation in the UK)

*Travel Update III*...

Ok this is another update from Yazeed who traveled to the UK, and from there to the US.

You can carry a bag no larger then 115cm on all sides. And you can have electronics in your luggage, but be prepared to take it out of your bag to be scanned individually. Basically no liquids of any kind, and I dont think you can bring on make-up, not even lip gloss. So the security level has gone down a bit.

And I think reading Travel Update II would help to clear any other questions. If anything else comes up I will make sure to post it.

*Travel News Update II*...

Thanks to 7nen , we have an official document telling us what we can and cant do.

British Airways welcomed the Government’s announcement of Monday August 14, easing restrictions on hand baggage on flights departing all UK airports.

From Tuesday August 15 all UK airports implemented the new hand baggage policy.

Customers departing from the UK (including customers transferring through the UK):
Customers travelling from the UK will be able to take on board as hand baggage one cabin bag no bigger than 45cm x 35cm x 16cm, the size of a small laptop bag.

Cabin baggage MUST NOT contain:

*Travel News*...

If you are traveling through Kuwait to a European destination you can not take on any carry on luggage. The only items you are allowed are:

  • Wallet with credit cards, cash, identification
  • Travel Documents
  • Medication (diabetic kit ok)
  • Baby food for babies
  • keys (non electronic)
  • glasses with no case

Everything else has to be checked in. Every gadget you have: mp3 player, camera, laptop, lip gloss, liquids(very techinical gadget), everything. And yes for those of you wondering, no make up!
They are implementing it for all airlines going to Europe and the States, and they think they are going to enforce this rule for travel within the GCC as well. So you cant carry anything. I just heard this from a friend it he Civil Aviation. Things are going to get crazy at Kuwait Airport, I dont know what is happening at other airports.

You can carry a book, and magazines with you, but I dont think anything else!

Update: No problems bringing a carry-on on GCC flights. Still banned on European flights. They are fine tuning the details! Still more to come.
