iTunes & iCloud Confusion...

iOS5

Is it just me or all the updates to iTunes is confusing me, so many updates with iOS 5.0 but it didn’t go as smoothly as everyone wanted. Apple has been on the for forefront of fusing media and technology, but with the introduction of iCloud there was a bit of a confusion and with iTunes match its even more confusing.

I for one use iTunes for all my music and purchase music when its available and get it through other means when I don’t find it on iTunes which is only 20% of them time. With iCloud you can move your library to iCloud instead of your computer which is good, but your limited to 5GB which is bad and then you have to purchase the rest on a yearly basis. I can understand that but then there are the other kinks, it backs up everything such as documents and files but it has to be a Mac Made file so doesn’t back up files from other devices or formats. And iCloud only works with Apple devices and nothing else, which can get frustrating with dealing with other devices. If you switch on iCloud storage for iOS device it would automatically erase all the media on your phone which they don’t warn you about. iTunes match is another thing now, it matches the music you have to that on the iCloud and if it isn’t bought from iTunes they try to match it which is pretty good but it is a bit on the confusing side how to activate it for your machines.

Seriously too many changes between iCloud, iOS5, and now iTunes match. I’m waiting for the dust to settle on this to see how exactly I can comfortable use it with my iPods.

Madeon – Pop Culture (Dance Video)...

I posted about this mash up song about a few weeks ago and now they went and made a music video about it. The guy in the office suit looks nerdy but he dances like crazy, they did a pretty decent job with the music video putting it all together.

Blocking ADs on Spotify...

I usually like listening to music online and recently gotten into spotify, the one annoying thing that I found about Spotify is the advertisements in between songs. Right now I’m just enjoying and experimenting with Spotify to see how I would use it, and I’m liking the service but its a bit strange to me.

Windows:

  • Blockify – Just install it and it will automatically mute ads when they come on and unmute it when done. But Blockify goes one step further, you can play a substitute MP3 from your Music folder so it won’t be a blank space, and once the song is done playing it will go back to your Spotify playlist which is pretty cool. You can also add keyboard shortcuts to Spotify to skip tracks, play, pause, change volume and shuffe.

Mac:

  • Smutefy – It mutes the ad then unmutes it once its done, and sometimes an advertisement slips through and you can manually block it and add it to the block list. You have to have Soundflower installed to have it working.

The other main option that you do have is to pay $5 per month for the “Unlimited” Upgrade which is unlimited music and no advertisements or the “Premium” Upgrade which is the same as “Unlimited” except you can access Spotify from your Android or iPhone, but until you feel like upgrading these are your best options to listen to your music without interruption.

Streaming Music Services Compared...

MusicServiceInfographicSM

I for one listen to a lot of music and I enjoy streaming music because I get to listen to new music, but now there are so many different types of companies to choose from. Mashable went ahead and put together this inforgraphic which compares all the companies and provides you with the best breakdown to fit your needs, and cloud streaming isn’t even part of this mix. I enjoy streaming some of these services, but still prefer to keep my music locally for now.

Sonos Play:3...

I’ve been blasting music through a variety of Sonos products for years now, I have slowly been increasing the collection of Sonos devices throughout the house and especially since they are adding new music service every day it makes for a very good music distribution system. Debuting today is the next step forward for at-home or at-work networked music playing with the release of Sonos Play:3. The device, designed as an all-in-one unit, promises bigger sound quality in a compact package, perfect for any room in need of bumpin’ tunes.

The Play:3 gets its name from its three integrated speakers, three dedicated class-D digital amplifiers and three drivers. With an overall goal to crank up the quality, each unit also has a passive rear-firing bass radiator to keep the sound rich.

The beauty of Sonos is that the hardware all blends perfectly together to be controlled from your iPad, iPhone, Desktop, Sonos Controller, or Android device. They slowly keep improving the selection of hardware that you can use with the Sonos music Distribution system and all you have to do is add it easily and play your music normally. I can’t help saying how much I love their system and all the music that I can play through it. And for $300 this isn’t too bad to join the Sonos music system and then expand later on and you see necessary, the best part about the Sonos guys is that they make sure the sound of their devices is fantastic before putting it in the market.

Madeon – Dance Music Mashup...

Ease into the weekend with this live mashup of dance tunes, made by talented YouTube user itsmadeon. I’m impressed that this 17 year old can remember all of the moves, and there are a lot of songs that I loved mixed in.

Mike Shinoda – Wednesday Was A Goo...

I seriously love this song, I love the original and this remix is priceless from Mike Shinoda. A very cool update to an old school song, I love the funny stuff added but still keeping it smooth. Mike Shinoda is the rapper from Linkin Park and Fort Minor one of my favorite artists.

I liked the original “Wednesday” a lot; wanted to add a little homage to the Ice Cube original in the beat, so I remixed it.

Planet Pit & Sorry For Party Rockin...

LMFAO

Its rare these days to find more than a few songs on album that you like and rarely do I buy a whole album, usually I just get that one song that I want or enjoy. In this case there are two albums that I do recommend, PIt Bull’s Planet Pit is pretty good with a lot of fun songs with some cool collaborators. LMFAO’s Sorry for Party Rocking is seriously a fantastic album, the songs are so much fun and entertaining, it was worth getting the whole album and I enjoy driving and listening to the whole album.

Karmin Music – Amazing Musicians...

This is an amazing music duo, that girl is seriously amazing, her singing capabilities are off the charts. She is sounds like a combination of Gwen Steffani and Nicki Minaj and her facial experssions are pirceless. They execute each one of these songs perfectly, I wonder why they haven’t been signed yet and have their own album. Check out their youtube channel.
