Review: Dan in Real Life...

daninreallife1.jpg

I’m a fan of Steve Carrel for a while now, he knows how to bring comedy across just from his facial expressions. In this movie he is playing a man who writes articles in the newspaper for people who have questions regarding parenting and family life. He is the perfect father, handling everything even though his wife recently passed away. Things just seem perfect until the family goes to his parent’s home for a family gathering, the unexpected happens and his real emotions come out. A genuine and entertaining movie to watch, something easy to watch and enjoy.

Review: Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Bar...

lockstockandtwosmokingbarrels.jpg

What can be said about this movie that hasn’t already been said. A movie written and directed by Guy Ritchie, he made one hell of a movie. Its simple about four London working class guys who pool their money to put one in a high stakes card game, but things go wrong and they end up owing half a million pounds and having one week to come up with the cash. They have an interesting cast with Jason Stathom in the early days, and one of my favorite English Tough guys Vinnie Jones. This movie has different groups of characters who are all committing one sort of crime or another, they all start connecting to the group of idiots who owe half a million pounds. As time progress Tom, Soap, Eddie, and Bacon make a plan to get their money to pay off their debt but they don’t realize how things get triggered from these events. It is hilarious movie that you just can’t get enough of, I was laughing my head off as things progressed from this witty and entertaining movie. Surprisingly this was the first time for me to watch it, and if you haven’t seen it then you should. The reason it turned into a cult classic is because its so damn good, even after 10 years since it came out its great.

Fast and the Furious...

fastandthefurious.jpg

This was one the best car movies to come out in a long time. When it came out it put street racing on the front of the page. I have seen the movie in a few years, decided to watch it again and it was worth watching. One hell of an adrenaline rush, Paul Walker did great in the movie and Vin Diesel was just right for the movie. There is a story, fast cars, and lots of actions that is why I loved the movie.

I went out after watching this movie and I was driving like a race car driver. That is what the movie does to you, you think you are one of the best drivers out there. I remember in the states there were lots of races and people going crazy at the parking lots of the movie theaters when it came out and police were on high alert trying to catch these drivers.

Review: In The Name Of The King...

I don’t know what to say abut this movie without it being bad, it isn’t just bad but it wasn’t horrible. You keep hoping that it will get better but that isn’t the case, it seems the special effects people really put an effort into the movie, really they did. The script is one of a kind, I don’t think they could have made this bad if they intentionally tried. I slept a bit through this movie which hasn’t happened to me in an action movie before. Take a look at the cast list and you tell me what you think, it seems that nobody was into this movie or somebody didn’t screen it.

Cast list:

  • Jason Statham – Great actor, he tried but just didn’t get it right
  • John Rhys Davies -Too deep for this movie
  • Ray Liotta – He was playing a character from Brooklyn
  • Matthew Lillard – Scooby Doo anyone
  • Leelee Sobieski – Not Bad
  • Burt Reynolds – He was playing a drunk football coach with a crown
  • William Sanderson – meh
  • Ron Perlman – Sounded like a guy from Jersey rather then a guy from a mythical time
  • Claire Forlani – Best woman in the movie and hot too, thats about it
  • Brian J. White – The Wire or The Shield ?
  • Kristanna Loken – Doesn’t count she was in the movie for 5 minutes max

Nothing else can be said.

Review: Jumper...

jumperposter.jpg

Hayden Christensen has been under the radar for a little while but with this movie he is coming off to good start. Hayden discovers that he has the power to teleport to any location that he can visualize, at first it seems that nobody notices and he goes for years under the radar of a certain group. After certain events taking place he realizes that he isn’t the only jumper, meaning a person who can create worm holes at a whim. Samuel L. Jackson is the main hunter of this group and he has Hayden in his sights, he wants to hunt him down and kill him as he did many others. There is a bit of underlying story but that is to be discovered in this action packed movie. Everyone who enjoys a good action movie will love this, great acting, and a very good story line with a twist.

Review: Run FatBoy Run...

Simon Peg is one of the funniest men out of England, there is a reason for that. He is damn good at all the roles he plays, and this one is no different. He walks out of his pregnant wife at the alter only to become a security guard at a women’s retail shop. When his woman gets involved with another man things get brewing with him, he lives in the basement of another person’s home, and he loves his son. He just can’t seem to get things right, and so he vows to beat his woman’s new man at a marathon. He hasn’t completed anything in his life, so how is he going to complete this marathon. You just won’t stop laughing throughout the movie, and he is a genius. A great movie to enjoy and watch.

Downloading Vs. Buying...

arrowdown.png

This is just a funny thought that has been going through my head, and a discussion with a few friends how things have changed. Over the years I have bought a lot of DVDs, even of movies that I have seen and I just wanted to have.

To buy a DVD I had to justify buying it, I hate to spend money on crappy movies even if I just wanted to have them. Back in the day the quality of downloads weren’t that good, but over the years that has changed. At this point I’m trying to download all the movies I ever watched, enjoyed, loved, and even remotely liked. The list is very large, the best part is getting all the movies I have ever watched in a very large database. I don’t even mind buying the movies, but they should let us do as we please not have them in a fixed format to watch only once on one machine. I’m about to start ripping all the DVDs to my hard drive, but I want them in XVID/AVI format and need the right software.

Review: Michael Clayton...

michael-clayton-1.jpg

This movie picks up as Michael Clayton playing poker in an underground china town place. George Clooney plays the role of Michael Clayton who is “the fixer” in a big New York law firm, he his in the lime light of the company but someone who manages to fix difficult situations for important people. Then he gets caught up with one the firms top lawyers gone AWOL, and things get really hairy when the lead lawyer of 6 year class action lawsuit can’t handle his situation and Michael is supposed to handle this. As time progresses he starts piecing things together. The character the Clooney plays is great, he pulls him off perfectly, you really feel that he doesn’t want to be a hero but he can’t help but put pieces together. The movie overall is good but the story feels a bit weak, and if you like Clooney then you will like this movie.

40 Days and 40 Nights...

40daysnights.jpg

40 Days and 40 Nights was just that movie that I felt like watching. I have always liked Josh Hartnett, and I enjoyed how he was in this movie. There was something that I liked in this movie since it was filmed in San Francisco during my time there. I loved Shannyn Sossamon, she was funky cute and I really liked her character in the movie and other movies she was in.

40daysnight2.jpg

When the scenes were going through the streets, I even remembered what were some of things I was doing when I was there. I remembered how fast on my bike on the streets of San Francisco and the sushi shops we would stop to get bite in on the way back.

Review: Alien Vs. Predator Requiem...

alien-vs-predator-requiem-1.jpg

I have been looking forward to this movie for a long time, I have been a fan of predator since Predator 2. My expectations haven’t been met over the years, the first AVP was a bit disappointing but interesting. This seemed as if it was going to be a better story but it wasn’t the case either. I won’t ruin the story, but if your a fan of this sci-fi franchise then you should watch it. It just isn’t satisfying, it feels like they didn’t know who to concentrate on and the usually the Predator has a relationship with one character but in this one neither the Alien nor the Predator have anything to do with the people, the people fee like they were just in the way.

alien-vs-predator.jpg

The ending was a bit annoying, but I still did enjoy the movie. It could have been done a lot better then what they did, but its always fun watching the Predator beat the crap out of the Alien at different points.
