Review: Street Kings...

I have been looking forward to this movie for sometime, but it has had some mixed reviews. Some people like it and some people didn’t, I wasn’t sure what to expect, the trailer looked good. It had an interesting list of actors such as Forrest Whitaker, Keanu Reeves, Hugh Laurie, and a few more. Keanu plays the role of a good person playing the role of dark cop in a dirty Los Angeles, he had to deal with a lot internally. Working with the Vice Squad he was the attack dog of the team, he would kill the bad guys before all the ropes they would have to jump, he thought he was doing it for the right reasons but his commander (Whitaker) had his own reasons to climb to the top. With all this it looked like there was a lot to the the story, as the movie picked up pace the story line was getting a bit confusing. At the end it was a very simple story line, but Keanu Reeves did an excellent job, it could have been a lot better, I expected something like Training Day. If you just want some action then this is an entertaining movie, Keanu pulls it off and thats about it.

Review: Rambo...

Now that was an action packed movie, a bit senseless but really full of explosions. Stallone looked a bit old in this movie, there is something that just didn’t fit about the movie, but it was enjoyable. The only way you can describe this movie from beginning to end is that its a blender of body parts, an arm flying here, and a leg flying there, and it never stops. If your a Rambo fan then its worth watching, but I expected it to be a little better.

Review: Be Kind Rewind...

A unique movie to say the least, I always know that Mos Def likes playing the odd roles here and there. Then there is Jack Black and Danny Glover, a cast that made for a unique combination. It revolves around the local video rental store that still had VHS tapes with no DVDs, and Mos Def was supposed to take care of it for a bit with Jack hanging around something was bound to happen. Its a very heart felt movie with some wacky comedy, you feel they are very genuine characters and things just play out. It isn’t the funniest movie, but it is very nice.

Review: The Incredible Hulk...

The Incredible Hulk has always been an interesting comic from Marvel, a good guy with uncontrollable power who always causes collateral damage while trying to do the right thing. I enjoyed the first movie they made even though it was a bit slow, but it follow the comic book theme down to the letter. In this case it was a little different, you come into the movie from the get go, and the disaster has already occurred. Edward Norton plays the Bruce Banner, and plays him excellently, then there is Liv Tyler who plays Dr Elizabeth Ross, Bruces’ very good looking girlfriend, at least in this movie. The action is nonstop and you really enjoy the movie, the movie is in pretty good condition in Kuwait there were a few cut scenes but it was always intimate scenes so it didn’t take away from the movie too much.

Review: 21...

I was always hearing some buzz around this movie, but I never really looked into the reviews. I always liked Kevin Spacey movies and didn’t think this would be very different. Its about how some MIT super Black Jack team took the Las Vegas Casinos for all they had through their perfect system. They were good with numbers and Black Jack is figuring out these numbers to win. Kevin Spacey is the great professor at MIT, and he works with some of the geniuses to make this team. The movie is very interesting but it feels like it just didn’t piece well together, there was a lot to say and a lot going on but I felt that movie could have been done a lot better. It was entertaining but nothing special.

Review: Kung Fu Panda...

Jack Black combined with Dreamworks pictures have produced one hell of a movie. I haven’t laugh this hard in a while, the animation is nothing short of fantastic. Everyone in the theater was laughing, after leaving the movie I don’t think there was anyone who wanted to try some Kung Fu. This is the perfect combination of a movie, amazing animation, very easy to watch, great comedy, and fantastic story line. The other interesting part is that Angelina Jolie and Jackie Chan are also this movie, its just filled with colorful characters. Everyone should go see this movie, you will be laughing and enjoying it.

Review: Butterfly on a Wheel...

This was an unexpected movie, it felt like James Bond versus King Leonidas, but I was a bit disappointed with Leonidas. Gerard Butler has the perfect family, a great job, and things are looking great. He plans a retreat soon with his boss, he takes his wife out for the day and things takes a turn for the worse as Brosnan takes a hold of them and their lives. Maria Bello plays the wife and I think she is very attractive, and pulls of this role perfectly. Its strange seeing these actors in these roles but some how they all pull it off. The story comes together, and the movie is very enjoyable but there is just something missing from the movie, I’m not sure what, you just feel that it could have been better. Overall its an enjoyable movie and if you like Brosnan that you would like this movie, gets your blood pumping.

Review: Loaded...

This seemed like an interesting movie, a man who has his life together and aiming for a career. There was a period in his life that he wishes he didn’t go through but its in his past until he meets some women and some of his old friends. Things take a turn for the worse from that point onwards. This movie is not worth viewing at all, it is 1.25 hours of my life that I can not recover, I’m happy at least for the last third of the movie I just started jumping through and stopping at scenes which might seem interesting. Nothing more can be said, just avoid this movie. This isn’t a straight to DVD movie, its straight to trash period.

Review: The Onion Movie...

I have always been entertained by The Onion, they provide some interesting political satire. So when it was announced they were going to make a movie about it I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it turned out to be more of their usual and entertaining sarcasm. Think The Daily Show but turned into a very funny movie with Steven Segal in parts of the movie, a lot of dry humor that keeps the laugh goings. Don’t expect an Oscar for this movie, but if you want to laugh then this is the choice.

Review: Flawless...

Now this turned out to be an interesting movie, I never even heard of it last year. Demi Moore hasn’t been in a good movie in a while, and this movie surpasses her usual quality by far, she is unusually good in this movie. Michael Caine played a vital role in the movie adding a touch of class and mystery. With this combination they turned one of the biggest heist of history into a great movie. You really get a picture of the England during that time and the monopolies these people had in businesses and what a woman faced in the business world.
