Review: The Day The Earth Stood Still...

Keanu Reeves is Klaatu, an alien sent to earth to judge the humans and the state of things on earth. If humans are fit to live or the earth has to be reborn again. I’m not the biggest fan of Keanu Reeves but he played this alien character pretty damn well, and Jennifer Connelly is the human scientist who connects with him and trying to help him understand that humans aren’t all that bad. I have to say that I like that big alien robot and it takes an interesting twist, its a fun movie to watch, nothing too special but if you liek Sci-Fi then this is for you.

Review: IP Man...

Ip Man is adapted from the life story of Ip Man, the grandmaster of the Wing Chun style of martial arts. This film is the first important record of the master’s life.

I watched a preview about this movie and it got me really interested. A true martial arts story with history at the heart of it. I will not go into the story of movie since it should be seen by every person who likes Asian movies or martial arts.

The best part is how the action is choreographed, I get annoyed with the recent movies how they make you dizzy with the confusing camera angles. The fight scenes were genuine, shots showing all the details, no camera tricks.

Also this movie didn’t focus totally about martial arts, it tells a story about a man who fought for what he believed in, even when it meant not fighting. They show some part of the history of China when invaded by Japan, and what he did to make a stand when he had to.

The later years IP Man spread the art of Wing Chun openly. And one of his most famous disciples is Bruce Lee.

Review: Pride and Glory...

A saga centered on a multi-generational family of New York City Police officers. The family’s moral codes are tested when Ray Tierney, investigates a case that reveals an incendiary police corruption scandal involving his own brother-in-law. For Ray, the truth is revelatory, a Pandora’s Box that threatens to upend not only the Tierney legacy but the entire NYPD.

I’m a huge fan of Edward Norton, and I also like Colin Farrel movies. Norton knows how to bring out the character and always choose these complex stories with difficult characters to portray. This time its no different, he is a burnt out cop from a family of cops and he has to dig into a murder investigation where four cops were killed. What he might find at the end of the investigation might rip his family apart. The storyline is simple yet it keeps you hooked, you keep wondering what he is going to find out and when. If you like cop movies then this is the choice.

Corvette Centennial Concept aka Sideswip...

I don’t know what is more exciting, taking a look at this beautiful machine that GM has created. Or that this machine is going to be one of the robots in Transformers 2: Revenge of The Fallen! They have to put this machine into production, it looks so damn menacing, I want to get my hands on it. This corvette would transform into Sideswipe, a robot with skates. It will be a success just as the Corvette is, if it went into production which I doubt at this point.

The Transformers’ Devastator...

This is an interesting evolution comparison between one of the most powerful of the Decepticons. This is Devastator after 23 years, and I have to say he is different and I didn’t even know he is coming up in the new Transformers 2 movie. I wondering what are the machines that combine to make the new Devastator, but I am a fan of the old Devastator. (Click on the picture for  a larger image)

Land Of The Lost...

I remember watching this old TV show as a kid, a bunch of people get warped into a strange land with creatures in the wrong time. I just remember it as entertaining with a bunch of funny looking aliens. They have taken this story, turned into a movie, and Will Ferrel is the lead role. Some people love Will Ferrel, and some hate him, but this movie seems to fit his acting skills. I’m looking forward to watching this movie, check out the trailer on youtube.

Review: Taken...

This is a simple story about a man who has a secret past with the government which he left to be close to his daughter. Once his daughter is taken he uses every skill he has learned during his time with the government to get her back. Liam Neeson pulls of the docile character with a father’s rage perfectly, you can’t believe what he does. The story keeps you on your toes and Liam keeps it going step after step, it has taste of The Bourne Identity but with a unique and convincing story. I can’t recommend this movie enough, watch it if you haven’t already.

GI Joe Rise of the Cobra...

I don’t there is anyone that grew up that didn’t love GI Joes, I used to watch that cartoon again and again. Snake Eyes was my favorite character, and knowing that they are coming out with this amazing movie is keeping me on edge. It is going to be one of the summer blockbusters, recently they have been coming through with movies which have a lot of history for us such as Transformers and X-Men. Now I can’t wait to see this movie, the preview is a bunch of explosions and some fight scenes which makes it enticing. Click the Youtube link below and remember to watch it in HD.
