Review: The Rite...

Inspired by author Matt Baglio’s nonfiction book of the same name, director Mikael HÃ¥fström’s supernatural thriller traces the experiences of a young seminary student who discovers the true power of faith after being drafted into the Vatican’s Exorcism School and confronted by the forces of darkness.

I’m a big fan of Anthony Hopkins, I always watch any movie he is in but not every movie is great but he does have a few off movies. When I went to see The Rite I was expecting to see a full on Horror movie staring Anthony Hopkins, it was a good thriller but not the horror movie I was expecting. The dilemma of faith tied into believing in demons was an interesting story but I was expecting to see some more scary stuff thrown into the mix, but that wasn’t the case. Overall its a pretty good movie but could have been better.

X-Men First Class – Trailer...

I always look forward to the X-Men movies and this one seems to be a very well worked out movie. This time around they are taking place in the 1960s and tying it up with the American Cuban Crisis and I really like where this is going. I’m curious to see the characters and this clip makes it look very interesting, June 3 is going to be a good day.

Review: The Delima...

Longtime friends Ronny (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Kevin James) are partners in an auto-design firm. They are hard at work on a presentation for a dream project that would really launch their company. Then Ronny spots Nick’s wife out with another man , and in the process of investigating the possible affair, he learns that Nick has a few secrets of his own. As the presentation nears, Ronny agonizes over what might happen if the truth gets out.

I’m always waiting for Vince Vaughn movies and this wasn’t a disappointment, as usual he carries himself easily with all his parts. This time acting opposite Kevin James I knew it was going to be funny and it turned out to be even funnier then I expected. What Vince goes through to try to figure out how to tell his best friend and business partner that his wife is cheating on him is a long hilarious roller coaster and I loved how it played out the whole thing. For a good laugh this movie was just right.

Review: The Green Hornet...

Britt Reid (Seth Rogen), son and heir to Los Angeles’ largest newspaper fortune, is a rich, spoiled playboy who has been happy to maintain a direction-less existence. When his father James Reid (Tom Wilkinson) dies, Britt meets an impressive and resourceful company employee, Kato (Jay Chou). They realize that they have the resources to do something worthwhile with their lives and finally step out of James Reid’s shadow. Kato builds the ultimate weapon, The Black Beauty, an indestructible car with every weapon imaginable and Britt decides that in order to be heroes, they will pose as villains. With the help of Britts new secretary, Lenore Case (Cameron Diaz), they learn that the chief criminal in the city is named Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz). He has united all the gangs under his power, and he quickly sees that the Green Hornet is a direct threat to the prosperous criminal underworld he controls.

Its been a while that I have seen a good action comedy and it has to come from Seth Rogen. A cool car with a mix of martial arts and the right dose of Seth Rogen attitude made for a very good film. I wasn’t expecting it to be this funny and still have a slight serious tone to it, so you can take the bad guy seriously as well the screw up super hero. Britt Reid is not your typical super hero and the story of the Green Hornet isn’t an exact match but this is what I a call a good entertaining modern adaptation and I really enjoyed it.

Star Wars: The Complete Saga On Blu-Ray...

At last they are releasing this movie on Blu Ray, it has been a long awaited release. I pre-ordered this the moment I saw it and I will have to watch it all one shot when I receive it. It would probably take a 18 hours in total but I think it will be worth it for any Star Wars fan.

Fan Made Avengers Posters...

FanAvengers

Now this got me excited when I saw it, and we have to wait until 2012 to see it. Now this year we have Thor and Captain America, but this mash up poster is fantastic, and I can’t believe its fan made. I think I’m probably going to enjoy Thor more then Captain America, I hope Marvel don’t stop making these movies.

3D in 2 Minutes...

This is how annoying 3D is, wrapped up in 2 minutes of ridiculous 3D. I prefer my movies in 2D, and movie studios learned that 3D doesn’t guarantee sales and box office hits. 3D is only good when done right, certain ways of producing a 3D movie is annoying to view and some aren’t recorded in the right way. Luckily they have learned their lesson in 2010 and some producers and directors don’t want their movies in 3D.

Top Movies of 2010...

2010 has been a pretty great year for movies, a lot of memorable ones and a lot of entertaining ones for the moment. Most the movies on my list are a mix of action and comedy, and some should be higher then some of the others but this is just some of the memorable ones from 2010.

    1. Iron Man 2
    2. RED
    3. The A-Team
    4. Unstoppable
    5. The Social Network
    6. Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 1
    7. Inception
    8. Kick Ass
    9. The Town
    10. The Other Guys
    11. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
    12. Predators
    13. Harry Brown
    14. The Hot Tub Time Machine

The Rite – Trailer...

An skeptical American priest travels to Italy to study at an exorcism school and gets just a little bit more than he bargained for. Now this is a horror movie I want to see, especially that Anthony Hopkins is it, and it looks scary.

Review: Four Lions...

Four Lions tells the story of a group of British jihadists who push their abstract dreams of glory to the breaking point. As the wheels fly off, and their competing ideologies clash, what emerges is an emotionally engaging (and entirely plausible) farce. In a storm of razor-sharp verbal jousting and large-scale set pieces, Four Lions is a comic tour de force; it shows that-while terrorism is about ideology-it can also be about idiots.

This was a surprising title much better then I expected and a completely different story then I was expecting. This movie about terrorism surpassed all my expectations and took a different route then I thought it would. These guys tried to be extremests for their own idiotic reasons and as things developed they are lucky they didn’t kill themselves but the what did happen was hilarious. It just shows that some people can be real idiots, they aren’t making fun of anyone but themselves and walked a fine line perfectly so they could turn it into an interesting and fun comedy, I really enjoyed the movie.
