Review: Shaolin...

China is plunged into strife as feuding warlords try to expand their power by warring over neighboring lands. Fuelled by his success on the battlefield, young and arrogant Hao Jie sneers at Shaolin’s masters after killing a rival warlord on their temple grounds. But the glory comes before a fall. His own family is wiped out in an unexpected turn of events and Hao is forced to take refuge with the monks. As the civil unrest spreads and the people suffer, Hao and the Shaolin masters are forced to take a fiery stand against the evil warlords. They launch a daring plan of rescue and escape.

This was one movie I was really looking forward to, any movie with Shaolin monks performing martial arts always interests me. But this case it was about a war lord who lost everything and joined the monastary he was first torturing and in that monastery Jackie Chan is an odd cook. At frirst I thought it would be a bit more comedic or exciting but still it was a very deep movie about a man who was an evil warlord and joins the monks only to fight the evil warlords. It gets interesting and you get caught up with it but I wanted more out of it.

The Dark Knight Rises – Trailer...

“The Dark Knight Rises”, the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. I will be watching this movie when it is released and I still want a Tumbler as my daily driver, it is going to be epic.

Review: Friends With Benefits...

While trying to avoid the clichés of Hollywood romantic comedies, Dylan and Jamie soon discover however that adding the act of sex to their friendship does lead to complications.

I thought this would be one of those kinda funny movies but it turned out to be a lot better then that. I saw No Strings Attached with Ashton Kutcher and was somewhat disappointed. This time around I was really surprised but this movie was nice and hilarious. Justin Timberlake pulled off his role perfectly, better then Ashton Kutcher who is supposed to be an actor. These two movies came out at the same time and this one was by far more hilarious and one of those easy movies to watch that makes everyone laugh.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation Trailer...

I enjoyed the First G.I.Joe movie but this one looks even Better! Snake Eyes is still a bad ass, and I want that motorcycle with a machine gun installed on it. Then there is Dwayne Johnson or “The Rock” who plays Road Block in this part of G.I.Joe basically the big guy with the big guns, I do love these movies!

Review: Tower Heist...

When a group of hard working guys find out they’ve fallen victim to a wealthy business man’s Ponzi scheme, they conspire to rob his high-rise residence.

This turned out to be even better then I expected, and it is something that a lot of people can relate to. With the financial crisis taking place around the world a lot of investment companies and financial individuals were discovered to be complex Ponzi schemes so this movie hits an interesting spot. In this case Alan Alda was that business man, I still know him as Captain Peirce from M*A*S*H, and Ben Stiller worked in his hotel and he asked to have the retirement fund of all the staff to be invested by him which disappears. Eddie Murphy is back, and he was hilarious in the movie, now this is the Eddie Murphy Raw! The real actor from the 80s, not the toned down family movie guy for the past two decades. The movie is entertainment on constant pace, with a lot of interesting characters, and never gets boring with a few interesting surprises. If you haven’t seen the movie then you should.

Review: The Immortals...

Theseus is a mortal man chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion, who is on a rampage across Greece to obtain a weapon that can destroy humanity.

From the makers of 300, a King who wants to destroy the Gods with the help of the Titans, and destroy anything in this path. Theseus is the one man capable to stand up against King Hyperion with the help of an Oracle and a few people on the way. The story doesn’t have the same gritty feel as 300 but does have sort of the same style, I was really waiting to see this Epic movie but it wasn’t as big as I thought it would be. Its a good story but there was something missing, it didn’t pull me in like 300, 300 gets your blood pumping and any man would shout at the top of his lungs at the final scene. I have to say that Mickey Rourke plays a really good bad guy, the perfect role for King Heyprion. The idea of the Gods of Olympus interfering with the Helenic battle was pretty crazy and something to expand on. I enjoyed the movie but I wanted a lot more out of it, its good but not an epic movie, no where near 300.

REVIEW: A VERY HAROLD & KUMAR 3D CH...

Six years after their Guantanamo Bay adventure, stoner buds Harold Lee and Kumar Patel cause a holiday fracas by inadvertently burning down Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree.

This is not your usual Christmas movie, Harold & Kumar have their very unique days and Christmas included. I enjoyed Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, but I thought Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay got a little over the top but still loved it, and they say third one is the charm and damn they are right this one is good. The best thing I can say for A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas is that it has left all pretense aside and does nothing more than be stupid, crass, rude, crude, offensive and absolutely hilarious. Things get rather raunchy with Santa Claus, some exposure to male genitalia, potential statutory rape and a drugged-out toddler. And of course plenty of weed humor that we all knew was coming.

This flick embraces balls-to-the-wall humor and the 3D element, having a lot of fun with situation and characters. There are quite a few laugh-out-loud moments and extreme situations. The 3D is thrown all over the place, taking full advantage of the gimmick but not relying on it. Honestly I think they were just making fun of 3D the way they were throwing it around, if you can watch it without it, if you have then its fine in 3D. This movie is just plain hilarious.

Movie List For The Weekend...

It was sort of a movie marathon during Eid, a lot of choices for a nice break during this vacation. Some people are still going with this vacation and very few went back to work the last two days. But below is a nice selection of movies to choose for this weekend, I have been looking forward to seeing 30 Minutes Or Less, looks like a hilarious comedy, can’t wait to see it. Bunraku looks very very interesting, something different, I’m surprised I didn’t hear about it earlier, I’m going to watch Conan even though it didn’t get great reviews.

  • 30 Minutes Or Less
  • Bunraku
  • Conan The Barbarian
  • Carjacked
  • Friends With Benefits
  • Michael Jackson – Life Of An Icon
  • Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes
  • Three Musketeers

Review: The Change Up...

A comedy in which a married father accidentally switches bodies with his best friend, leading to a series of wildly complex difficulties.

The trailers for this movie looked good, but I’m happy they didn’t give the story away, it got a lot funnier and I like that it was rated R, these guys went to some disgusting extents for their roles. I’m a huge fan of Ryan Reynolds and Jason Batemen, they are excellent comedians and as a duo they really pulled this off. A lot of crazy stuff takes place that these two have to adjust to the switch but they each handle it differently with some hilarious results, great movie and some hilarious parts.
