Early Morning Ride...

DSC03376.jpg

I slept at 4:30am and I woke up at 7:30am to meet up with vampire for an early morning ride. We met up at Marina Mall around 8am, while riding I was being hit by a cool breeze which was fantastic. As we started off we took the Gulf Road to Mansooriya just to fill up gas before heading towards Al Koot. As we were riding we kept seeing different groups of riders, usually in groups of two or three in the morning which is fantastic. I love seeing other bikers on the road, and you know they ride because they enjoy the ride.

As we were riding, I felt the clutch a bit stiff as what happened before so I’m going to have Tristar take a look at it. After a bit of riding it gets really stiff so I keep having to pump the clutch to get it shifting normally again. It was one hell of ride since vampire’s riding has improved greatly, and he is able to take large sweeping turns like a champ. Also I think he learned from previous experience how hard to break. Its great when you ride with someone who picks up on small movements that you make to know where you are going to go next.

We were enjoying the ride but towards the end of the ride the wind was killing us, it got really strong around 9:30am and pushing us around. We got back to Arjan Bid’a and had a cold drink at Starbucks to cool off before heading home.

Parts Update...

1098Termignoni.jpg

Currently I have a few parts on order and still waiting for them:

  • Carbon Fiber Front and Rear Fairing – Shift-Tech
  • Pirelli Super Corsa Pro Rear Tire – Zed Motors
  • Termognini Full Exhaust – Tristar

I have been waiting over a month to get the exhaust since I knew it would the ECU problem. The full exhaust system also comes with a ECU for this exhaust. This will help with all of my stalling issues, but since Tristar did the last tweak to the ECU I don’t remember stalling which is great. Now I can’t wait to get this exhaust on Pyro, he isn’t just going to look like a demon he is going to sound like one too.

First Police Checkpoint...

DSC03362.jpg

I came back from work, and I felt tired. I really did just want to sit at home and do nothing, but I also had this huge urge to go riding. I really wanted to clear my head and riding would fit the bill. So I go geared up and got on Robo, filled up gas and headed down the Gulf Road. I’m enjoying my ride and there are a few nut cases on the road but I managed to get away from them.

DSC03363.jpg

As I pass the third ring road heading towards the second ring road I speed up to take the corner the way I like it, but then I see a lot of cars stopped so I slowed down. As I was passing between cars I notice that it is a police check point, it was the first police checkpoint that I have been to in over 8 years. When I got to the front they turned at looked at me, he asked for my license and I was extremely happy to oblige. I had to put the bike in neutral, take off my gloves, and get my wallet out, then he said if you have it go ahead and I told him I really want to give to him so hold on. I got it out and gave it to him, the guy was laughing and said to go ahead. Being in full gear makes a difference and the police were very cordial, and they stopped everyone with a vehicle which had problem or was tinted. They were doing their job and they were nice about it. As soon as I passed I took off, and I was enjoying the rest of my ride.

Humid Riding...

DSC03346.jpg

DSC03350.jpg

I decided I wanted to get a haircut and made an appointment earlier in the day. I wanted to ride for a bit before going there and I knew it was humid, that is all everyone and myself was complaining about. We aren’t used to this humidity in Kuwait, but when it comes to riding humidity is your friend. When I was riding it was much cooler and as the wind was hitting me I felt cool breeze instead of the usual hot breeze. It was nice and streets was somewhat empty, and I was enjoying myself, but when there was traffic I got into a few close calls because some people just don’t pay attention when driving. I got home and I was happy I was riding Robo since I was blast out of corners, they really are two different machines. And it was nice feeling clean shaven after a weeks of the light beard.

Pyro Update II...

DSC03321.jpg

I got an update from Tristar regarding my tire and what exactly they found. They patched the tire and returned Pyro to me but don’t recommend riding it hard. So I won’t be riding since I tend to have a heavy right hand at different times. What they found was a thin metal seam that cut cleanly through the tire and was lodged inside the tire, that is why it slowly deflated.

The only thing I can do now is wait for Zed Motors to bring in their shipment of tires so I will have to wait two more weeks for them. At this point I am happy since Pyro looks all healthy again, I will just ride him to keep the battery from going dead but it will be at light cruising speeds.

Back and Kicking...

DSC033071.jpg

It has been a while since I have ridden Robo, but I’m happy as hell I was riding on Thursday. Got on Robo around 7 am and I knew I had to be at work by 8:30am so I was going to go for a joy ride before going to work. I knew I had presentation to do but I wasn’t worried, more like I was enjoying the ride and the good music. It was 33 degrees but not too bad since it was still early morning.

DSC03326.jpg

After work is when I went for a ride down the gulf road from Shuwaikh all the way down to Miseela. It was an enjoyable time since I have been on Robo for a while and I forgot how much fun this bike is, but it took me about 20 minutes to readjust to the different feeling of this machine. They are two very distinct machines and with this one I have to tune myself differently when riding. As soon as the song by Stonebridge ft. Therese came on I dropped a gear and just flew, that song gets me going and its as if everything is in slow motion and I’m flying. When looking at Robo I really do feel that he is a transformer with that look, real brute strength ripping the ground apart.

DSC03327.jpg

It was pretty damn hot but I was enjoying myself at 46 degrees without too many issues as long as I was moving. The one thing I noticed was how much cooler Robo ran compared to Pyro, my legs weren’t getting cooked and I was happy about that. As soon as I got home I parked and cleaned Robo a bit, and then I put my gear back in the closet cleaning my Haga helmet and taking off my boots. Then I was in the basement and I noticed the little guy sitting in the shade of the window in the basement. This guy was so lazy it is was funny, he didn’t even care that I was right next to him taking pictures, he looked comfortable and happy to find this shade. The funny part is that I have seen him there twice now, and it seems this is his territory where he relaxes and nobody bothers him.

London Bike-A-Thon...

bikeathon.jpg

This is a great event taking place in London on Sunday July 15th called the London Bike-A-Thon. The main reason for this event is to raise money for Leukaemia research as well as other blood related diseases.

Whats great about the whole event is that they give you different options for people to sponsor you and you chose a which route you want to take. What I would like to see is this type of thing being done in Kuwait for the same reason. At least getting sponsors and making it very public, and whats great is that you can do this by any type of motorcycle. Getting this type of event put together in Kuwait would take a lot of work, but it would have great results.

The turn out for this event is usually great in London.

1 Up, 1 Down...

DSC03312.jpg

After discussing my options with Tristar I decided to replace my battery on Robo since it has died twice over a two month period and I know its completely my fault for not putting it on a trickle charger. Changing the battery only took 20 minutes as soon as that was done we started the bike up and rumbled just right, it was music to my ears.

Robo Problem -> Resolved

DSC03308.jpg

DSC03311.jpg

Now it comes to Pyro, we decided to let the guys at the shop to take a look at the tire and see what is going on. Also we dug a little into the issue regarding the Pirelli Super Corsa Pros taking 3+ weeks to get to Kuwait. As usual this type of thing doesn’t happen except in Kuwait, the agents of Pirelli is ZED Motors and so they are taking their time getting the tires, and Tristar can’t do anything about it. I can either wait or order from outside of Kuwait, and I’m thinking of the later option.

Pyro Problem -> Pending

DSC03309.jpg

All I have to say is that I’m happy Tristar updated me with a lot of info and told me what they can’t and can do. And what they did do was great. Since they came to pick up Pyro they replaced Robo’s battery at the same time.

Failed Start...

DSC03307.jpg

I haven’t started Robo since last time’s incident so I decided to jump start the bike and then get it going. I waited about 10 minutes of charging would suffice and then I would be able to start it, and it start after a the first try. As soon as I pulled in the Clutch the bike died again.

I tried another time and let the motorcycle charge for 12 minutes and then I started up the motorcycle and I shifted a few times with success. As soon as I stalled once the motorcycle died and wouldn’t start up.
So it seems the battery is pretty much used up and I am better off just replacing the battery so I’m going to full replace the battery and look into getting a motorcycle battery charger. I just have to contact Tristar and hopefully they have this battery, or I’m going to have to wait for the trickle charger.
