Now this is probably one of the most ridiculous things I have seen done yet. First the hot dogs disappeared from Sultan Center then a few months later they disappeared from Lulu Hypermarket, I just assumed they were running out of stock. Then summer came and I was looking forward to bbqing at the beach and hotdogs are always at the top of the mix, but again nothing was there. I thought it was just a late stock delivery. The brands I always loved picking up was Oscar Mayers & Ball Park Franks, they were so damn good and really hit the spot. After a little inquiry it turns out that the Baladiya stopped them because the packets didn’t have Halal stamps on them, I thought that was ridiculous. They were beef and this is an american import, they can verify the process but why would they put a halal stamp on the packet. The amount they import to the Middle East is less then 3% of what they sell and to them its no loss if they stopped selling them here so they didn’t make that stamp.
They have been selling these hot dogs in Kuwait for a good four years, the Oscar Mayer & Ball Park Franks, not including a few other brands. Why did Baladiya all of a sudden decide to have these stamps on them, sometimes they really baffle me as to their priorities. I agree that they should check the quality of the hot dogs and expiration, these are important details but really? You just thought the stamp would make it more beef. In this case we only have Khazzan and Americana as options for hot dogs and to be honest they tasted horrible, their quality is not good at all in comparison to those who make HQ Hotdogs.
I still haven’t had a chance to go but when I was trying to go it was a lot harder then I expected. I was told their website was online, and I went to it but the booking system wouldn’t work all week long. I called a few friends and I was given the direct number to them which we called yet no one picked up. I wanted to experience their VIP seating and watch SKYFALL again.
The only option we had was to go over there, and when we did on Friday around 1 pm and it was packed, I mean a lot of people in Al Hamra Mall. By the time we got to the counter turns out that all of VIP was sold out for all of Friday and Saturday which is insane. I felt that I wasted my time driving over there to get tickets. I know that Grand Cinemas is new but they are not a new type of company, and the people running it are experienced, and they even delayed the launch a few months so I would have expected them to get their act together if they were delaying it. But come on, the phones don’t work and online doesn’t work, that’s just disappointing. I know that I still want to go but the hassle of going is annoying.
I heard about this new breakfast place in Adayliyah and thought to check it out, its where the old Nathan’s used to be and you can’t really miss it because of its funky design. They have amazing seating outdoors and a cozy area indoors. We went four guys and it was perfect to try out the different items on the menu. I really like the design of the place, its cozy but doesn’t feel stuffy which is hard to pull off.
We ordered several things off the menu and they have been open a little over a month now. I had the turkey sandwich while the guys had some omletes and scrambled eggs. It took a bit of time but it was worth the wait and the food was pretty good. They also had frozen yogurt but by that time I was stuffed, I had a little taste and it was really good and they had a ton of different toppings to choose from. I think they picked an excellent location because Adayliyah is one of the nicer areas inside the city with excellent pace for parking. MSM was outside harassing the cars.
The wait has been too long, Burger Boutique was the first to open years ago with the comic book themed menu that I loved. I didn’t know what to expect from Burger Boutique but all I knew was that it was going to be something good and honestly I was looking forward to it. Then I got the call that they were inviting people to try it out. Let me say this the pictures I took do not do it justice, it is in Al Rayah Mall just opposite its original location on the 2nd floor. We were a lot of guys so we ordered pretty much everything on the menu and everything was so damn good.
I had high expectations for the Burgers and they did not disappoint, the normal burgers and the sliders. They were going for a recycling theme which I thought was cool but sometimes it was just too much paper to get to my food, I felt like a cave man ripping at his food and the guys didn’t give me chance to take pictures, food would just disappear so it was eat or be eaten situation. They have expanded on the types of fries they have and I loved the chilli cheese fries, so damn good. There were so many other good things on the menu but I didn’t have a chance even remember their names.
The one thing that really surprised me that tasted so good that I burnt my tongue since it was really hot was the chilli cheese hot dog. It really tasted amazing, like the kind of hot dogs that you think it should taste like, the ones I remember from a long time ago and this just really hit the spot. Also the selection of milk shakes are really good, I loved the Oreo Milkshake it really stuffed me at the end. One thing that I love about Burger Boutique, Slider Station, & OFK, its their buns, they just taste so good and with the opening of Burger Boutique they have opened their Bakery so now they make all their buns there and it just adds to the flavor of the Burgers. I will be going back and I loved that their open, if you have a chance and your feeling a burger then you should stop by for sure.
From the text messages and posts that the government has been announcing that basically we shouldn’t be out for the next few days. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday all the roads are basically going to be packed on the map, 600’000 people are going to be rerouted at the busiest times of the day.
Based on the map we are pretty much screwed, and driving to work is going to be a nightmare. I was thinking of taking the seaside so at least I could get a view while stuck in traffic. I don’t know how they decided to plan this, but as usual there was no planning in the matter, but at least they announced that they are blocking it so we know what we are getting our selves into. So if you don’t need to go out don’t, but if you do be prepared for a lot of road rage.
Its events like these that I do love and enjoy, for the first time in Kuwait I see a tuning event at this level. With Bumper2Bumper, GulfRun, and Top Speed Motors. Top Speed Motors is an Automotive Performance company who have experience modifying every type of Japanese, Italian, American, and German cars, they have been top winners in several races across the US, and from I have seen these guys know what they are doing. It was surprising to discover that a Dyno such as this even existed in Shuwaikh, I have heard of a few dynos in different garages but they were always in these quick fix garages and not the best setup. This is the first corporate company that I have seen that has its own Dyno, and GulfRun working with Bumper2Bumper they pulled off a very cool event.
They had a Nissan GTR on the Dyno which was getting tuned, and these guys at Top Speed Motors knew what they were doing. These guys working on several machines earlier in the week, they got another 80 bhp at the wheel for a modified ’12 Mercedes C63 and that thing is a beast. The event was taken over by the number of Nissan GTRs, and the one on the Dyno got some impressive numbers but I couldn’t remember because of the ringing in my ears from the crazy exhaust and the flames that came out of it.
They got a 2 Door CTS-V on the dyno which got a decent 585 bhp at the wheel and a very decent amount of torque. The whole event was a lot of fun, it felt like the precursor to GulfRun, a lot of people getting their cars tunned and tweaked. I was annoyed I didn’t take full advantage of these guys being here since my Beemer needs a bit of work, its been a while since anyone looked at the computer. But they were here only for a week and they were working on two cars a day from day to night to give each machine the right amount of attention, and they were extremely helpful with all the questions. It seems this may not be the last time that Bumper2Bumper, GulfRun, and Top Speed Motors
I know I have been gone for a little while but it seems quite a few things were taking place while I was gone. One of them being the internet prices being slashed, which I think is pointless if 80% of the population can barely get 2MB thanks to the MOC. We need infrastructure before they can really go after prices, and the original price fixers are the MOC, but thats a whole different subject for a later stage.
My one major surprise was Google Maps, I pretty much lived on Google Maps on a daily basis figuring out how to get to where in the most efficient way or to find the scenic route. In Kuwait we use it often but not with all the features, but it seems that they brought one of the best features to the maps, which is the traffic layer, even though I honestly question the accuracy of it or even how they are doing it, I am impressed. Lets hope more of Google’s Features become available locally.
Ok someone called me and told me to check this blog and I thought it was hilarious. A man or woman is criticizing blogs, and in this case I think its a man, and I was one of the targets and honestly I found the post to be hilarious. It’s been a while since we have had a blog that roughs up the water and takes shot at people, some are ligitimate and some are not. In my case I’m getting called out for my reviews: “zdistrict’s Reviews Mean Nothing”
Honestly I just love movies so much and I’m easily entertained, I take movies for what they are entertainment, some suck and some are fun, and the ones that really suck I don’t even bother writing a review about them. But he does have a valid point, some times I need to write about these crappy movies too but then again I just don’t bother with them. Still a funny post by KuwaitBlogsSuck!

Hahaha Mark got called out too, but his were on his pictures. Seriously this blog might be offensive to some people but some parts are pretty funny even if the facts aren’t completely true. This is going to be interesting, you have to love a bit of contreversy.
I think this week is sort of slow motion for people, I think very few people even have gone to work, the roads are empty. The only place that was insanely full was the bank today, so many women taking out Eideyas. The last three weeks have been a whirlwind of work and family obligations, and going to diwaniyas. What made it even more hectic was that we had so little time after evening prayer, there were only a few hours to go to so many diwaniyas so it was sort of like sprinting from one to the other. But I’m cherishing this last week, it has been the only week that I have had the evenings to myself and during that time I’m catching up with a lot of things.
The one thing I am very proud of is that I stuck to the gym work outs during Ramadan, I went every Saturday and Tuesday during Ramadan and I went a few other days to make up for lost days. The one thing I didn’t stick to at all was a healthy diet, I ate what I wanted at futoor and at night, I was hungry and I wanted to satisfy that hunger, and the healthy food wouldn’t have done it for me. Surprisingly during that whole time I didn’t gain any weight, I just checked as of yesterday and I’m at a 102.3 KG which is 0.7 KG less then when I started Ramadan so not bad. My goal was to be below 100 KG by July but I didn’t stick to healthy food, but I will get there soon enough.
Even though this Ramadan was extremely tiring I still love it.
Hearing about OnCost for a little while, its sort of a wholesale supermarket just the same as Costco in the US. I knew that it was in Sulaibiya in a large warehouse type building that currently sells vegetables of every kind. OnCost is a little different, they sell cleaning materials, cooking materials, meats, fish, and a few other house hold items. The main part in this case is that they are about 20 to 30% cheaper then the coops which really surprised me, some items are less but overall it is a very big difference.
The place is slightly out of the way but if you have some bulk shopping in mind it is the place to go. You go down 6th ring road until exit 604 then you take a left under the bridge at the traffic light. You can’t miss the place going straight, you will see it on your right hand side. Other then OnCost the vegetable section is just huge, I’m going to check it out another time again.
