I remember a while back about a delivery service that delivered food or items from your house to any other location. I was trying to remember the name I remember that Kuwait Black Market had them a while back and found it. KBM spoke about Mr. Delivery and we wanted to order from Johnny Rockets on Friday night and didn’t want to move, and we were really hungry and lazy at the same time. We called them up, they said its 2.5 KD for delivery from Johnny Rockets Salhiya to Mishref, which isn’t too bad and they asked for the bill amount and I told them over 50 KD (We were very very hungry, and we have a friend named The Ferret who can eat anything and everything). Then Johnny Rockets called and told us the driver was there but the food didn’t leave yet, they called us once it was done and he took the food. He got to us in about 15 minutes, right behind the house without having to call and find the street or getting lost. A great service which I will be using again and recommending to people. Also one other note, he had a heat bag to keep the food warm which is a plus, I was impressed, fixed low price and no hassle service what more could I have asked for.
Mr Delivery
The one annoying thing about the 2008/09 Lexus LX 570 & Toyota Landcruiser is that they can’t integrate with the iPod. You have to buy an aftermarket adapter to integrate into the system, and in my case I found a perfect solution which worked for me but you would expect a car as expensive as that to be able to integrate without issues. It seems Toyota heard people’s complaints, with the 2010 Landcruiser / Lexus LX 570 all you have to do is plug into the iPod into the USB slot next to the gear handle and it integrates right into your audio system with all files, playlists, and other details showing up on the screen. I have a 2009 Landcruiser so I got my solution which works for me, and my friend just purchased a 2010 LX 570 and that suv connects right away without any issues. Toyota always does this, they release a few options year after year, and if you bought the model year before then tough luck you can’t upgrade that option in your car even though its just a software thing, its good they keep upgrading but it’s annoying when it was something as simple as iPod integration, well good for all those who will be buying a new LX 570 or Landcruiser.
Things are getting all worked up at this point, people are getting their cars ready and this teaser comes out. What I can see is the Lotus 211 and the Caterham’s in the video, those machines stick to the asphalt like glue and take off like bullets. This year there seems to be some developments taking place during GulfRun 5, going to be a little bit more then last year, and more developments with the track.
From the trailer you can tell the dates are a little bit more then what it was so I’m going to enjoy that extra time. The Car Show has been confirmed for 360 Mall on the 15th and 16th of January with Cars being exhibited on the outside ramp as well as the main inside hall, this is going to be nice show of the racing breed. Check out UpTill1 for more detailed information for GR 5.
I can’t wait for it, the wait is like an itch which is driving me nuts. And NegativEffects keeps making these great videos, I do enjoy when I see quality Kuwaiti talent doing things like this.
Now this turned out to be an interesting shop, I haven’t been to Muthana Complex in at least 12 years and Mark told me about this place a while back so I decided to check it out. The only other Anime Model place I know is rihab and they also have a decent collection. But this store is a little different they have a huge collection of Gundams as well as other items, he had one Transformer model that looked really cool but turns out it wasn’t for sale, it was BouSaleh’s private collection.
Then they had other items such as Jet’s and Air Craft Carriers which were genuine miniature models. The place is packed, you have a large selection and the prices aren’t bad, a bit more then buying it online but the satisfaction of having then item right away is nice. Sometimes when buying models you don’t know what type it is but in this case, you get to see them and I picked up a few that I was looking for. It took me about 15 minutes to find the store because it isn’t in easy to find location on the second floor but at the end it was worth looking for it.
Picked Up:
I thought I was out of my mind, but when I got to the Baskin Robbins I was correct with all my flavor choices. Then the Philipino guys at Baskin Robbins complained about the Egyptian call center, they don’t know the flavors and confuse the customers. Turns out the since Baskin Robins is part of Americana they put them under the same rule of Egyptian thumb, they have an overwhelming amount of Egyptians working for them in all their fast food franchises so its no surprise they are in the call center but they have no clue about the product. What surprises me is that they have Philipinos at most Baskin Robins, I honestly prefer Philipinos as they are very friendly and always give good service. So I wasn’t mixed up about the flavors but it seems I was talking to a guy who had no clue about the flavors.
It seems everyone is getting affected by the lack of all forms of milk from KDD these days but Starbucks takes it one step further. During this amazing rain I felt like getting a drink while finishing up some work this Saturday morning. To my surprise the place was packed in Bida’a, waited in line while on the phone. Got to the counter, asked for a Mocha Frapaccino, she gave me a mix of other ingredients with chocolate, and something else thrown in and it tastes the same. I said fine, instead let me have Raspberry Frapaccino, then she said they are out of stock of that as well but they have the Mango version. What I don’t understand is that they are constantly out of stock of the Raspberry Frapaccino, I would think they would see the demand and slightly stock up on it, but this is the case in a lot of the locations.
Well, I walked out and since I was close to Dahia Abdulla Al Salem I went to the Juice Place there and got me an Embra6oor (Emperor) which hit the spot while driving in the morning.
Update:
I just got a call from the dealers of MV Agusta in Kuwait they have not shutdown their operations. It seems when we went we at an odd time and we got the wrong information, they have no brough the 2009 models since there are newers model about to be launched. MV Agusta is bringing the new models which have just been redesigned and released for 2010 and just revealed in EICMA in Italy at the end of October. There will be a new release for this coming MV Agusta launch in Kuwait for the new models in December. I’m very happy my information was wrong and they are open, but they are only bringing the new models at the end of the year.
Only in Kuwait does someone buy a London Black Cab, get it in Beige and drive it around Kuwait. I honestly wouldn’t mind driving this car around with the guys in the back, its hilarious that someone has this as a personal car, I wouldn’t think there was one in Kuwait, I remember one of the older models but not this one. It costs £22’000 to £26’000 from the UK and I’m assuming you get 17% off for taxes if you are shipping outside the country but with shipping and customs tax in Kuwait I would assume you would get it for about 9’000 to 12’000 KD.
I still think its really cool car and probably fun to drive, I wouldn’t mind taking it for a spin. This is probably one of the few times that I have been to Tilal at night Kuwait, usually I don’t go except if I have a reason but it was packed, ridiculously packed, cars were on top of each other and so many people, but the places weren’t packed except for that one cafe in the corner. People were even standing on the corner waiting for a table to be free, I never knew it was that popular but Tilal Complex is a very nice mall, I enjoy all the design and furniture stores with a few odd ones thrown in.
Places such as these in Kuwait are far and few, I was invited to the soft launch of a Home Theater & Home Automation Company in Tilal Complex. I didn’t have very high expectations, but the staff asked me to pass by during the soft opening and to say my expectations were blown out of the water is an understatement. When you walk in you have 6 areas with their displays and different setups, such as dining room, outdoor area, living room, bed room and a few variations.
The setup was very nice but I’m not one who really gets impressed by just some pieces of equipment wired up nicely, what I like is the thought process that was put into designing the way they are setup and the products they choose for indoor or outdoor use. And what I liked the most is the knowledge and understanding of the people, it isn’t your run of the mill electronics store, these guys knew about sound resonance, sound deadening techniques for home theater rooms, the right equipment for the right needs and surprisingly for the shine and show their prices are reasonable. They even had some nice Optima projectors which had amazing blacks and I enjoyed watching Live Free or Die Hard. They had a very interesting home automation system which integrates with your iPod or iPhone which the they were using, not just the panels on the wall.
The home theater rooms were fantastic, they had three rooms, one was very nice with the sound and visuals, one was amazing and the third room just completely blew me away with the 9.2 setup meaning ( 9 Speakers & 2 Sub-Woofers which shook the room like an earthquake). I loved that they were showing off the highest end home theater with the Matrix. There were a few tacky things that I didn’t like but I wasn’t there for the taste in furniture, they have an amazing store and I hope it is successful and everyone should check it out to at least see some of those theater rooms with the ridiculously comfortable seats, I didn’t want to get up but there were other people who wanted to see so I had to get out of the room after forgetting that I wasn’t there to watch the whole movie.

I think a lot of people have been waiting for the rain in Kuwait, it felt fresh today just after the rain. I know I’m one that love’s the rain, the smell just after it feels amazing, the cold is perfect. It has been annoying getting those short drops of muddy water over the past couple of months, I would take rain over the sandstorms, those sandstorms this summer were ridiculous. The weather has been fantastic in Kuwait for the past few weeks that I hate to be indoors because we never know when things might switch around and go bad very quickly. It’s even nice sitting outside with something warm to drink, maybe with a coal fire if possible, but I hope it continues for a while.
