There are some support vehicles for GulfRun, and this Landcruiser is one of them, to be exact one of the two Landcruisers.
I’m carrying some spare parts for people’s vehicles as well as other items for the event. We are going to be three guys driving to Bahrain which hopefully won’t take more then 4.5 hours if we are taking our time. I think we are one of the last groups to leave, there are some people driving and some flying.
Its going to be a fun road trip since we are going to watch a few old action movies, I want to watch Bad Boys, and Bad Boys II which is just filled with non-stop action and Will Smith wit. Then on the way back we watch MIB and MIB II for the conclusion of the trip, and I chose the movies without listening to other people’s opinion. The Driver is King.

THE PLANE FLEW… at least 7 meters
This was probably one of the funnest things we have ever done.
First Off: Thanks to nibaq for being our pilot, he took a bit of a beating at the bottom. The wind was bad, it was really strong and pushing people to the left because its so strong.
We were at the event form 9 am, and since we were there we had a lot of beverages and helium, somebody had a tank and we were thoroughly using it. A lot of people made fun of our plane, but they loved our team, our heart was in the event and we were ready for the whole mess. All the other teams couldn’t believe that it was our plane, and all the people participating were great people and enjoying themselves.
It is very nice to see events like this in Kuwait which provides a different type of entertainment.
A lot of the judges had some criticisms but we also criticized them for judging based on looks, but the safety judge said our plane was the safest and most comfortable. Also the head of the Red Bull Kuwait and the marketing team said we were the funnest team they have ever seen so that goes for something.
We were on the ramp and about to go, we pushed nibaq off and it flew for a bit and we all jumped. It was one very high ramp, and water was cold but extremely refreshing it was fantastic. After that we felt like we were beat up and the day ended for us.
More blogs will be posting pictures, and videos.. I’m exhausted and I’m hungry, but I have one hell of smile from this crazy event.
I think this is probably one of the funniest things we have done with as little effort as possible.
I just saw some of the planes there, and some people brought in German Engineers to make some of them, and some spent thousands on their planes. I don’t know what they were thinking, but it wasn’t what we were thinking.
People may think the Imperial 27 plane is ugly or might not fly, but we will have a blast jumping off the 11 meter high ramp. I saw how high that ramp is, and it is a freaky looking from the top. I thought to hell with it, I’m jumping off after the pilot even if the water is really really cold.
We had fun through out this whole mess, and one thing is for sure if this thing flys it will have to defy gravity.
I have to the conclusion that 8 out 10 guys in Kuwait smoke and it drives me nuts. I go to another work place at night since we are getting some business off the ground. That is taking a lot of work, number crunching, paper work, talking to people, and organizing details. I had my role and the other guys had theirs but at the same time we are all interacting with customers. Some of them are friends, and some are friends of friends, but they are all still customers so you have to put up with a lot of things.
I previously wanted to make the environment no smoking, but I realized from day one that would be impossible and everybody smokes. I told them that I hate the smoke, but that didn’t even stop them. I’m thinking about getting a mask because it really is driving me nuts, I can’t stand smoke. They think I’m laughing now, but at one point I’m going to pull a fire extinguisher on them and it isn’t nice to be on the receiving end of one of them. The bad part is I know it affects me more then it does the smokers since I have been a non-smoker all my life. A gas mask will be added to the next list of supplies for myself.
Today was one hell of day, there was an event planned for my brother for a special occasion. The plan was to do a Treasure Hunt across some area in Kuwait, and we guys didn’t have a clue what or how to do anything. I have to say it was exciting and a very different thing to do. We met up and we were 6 people at the Starbucks in Qibla. From there the events began, we were separated into two groups and we had to figure out clues which led us from location to location. We had to figure out clues to go to the next location, the first clue was the hardest.
We were told that girls usually figure out these clues faster then the guys. And guys are really just brash about things!! We were a little more then Brash, we were just hilarious! The first thing that happened, after they explained the semi-complex rules to us, was a car chase! We didn’t know what we were doing and we thought they knew what they were doing. So we tried following them, we tried following them from afar and a few times we managed to keep up but the vehicle was much faster so after a while we gave up and decided to work on the clue to figure out the answer. Each clue gave a key to open a lock on a metal box that had another clue, and there were three locks in them. We did the most insane things, such as water from a water fountain in The Avenues, to finding a key inside a clothing store. I was the navigator and helper. We had someone making calls if need be, we wanted to win at all costs. And one of the clues was too funny trying to figure out that I think its worth someone to do.
A few mishaps happened where a friend of ours was a casualty of the adventure. His shoes got completely soaked just to get the water from the fountain. And they asked for evidence such as video and photos that we did everything that was required. It was funny as hell. We were accused of cheating but we didn’t… we really didn’t!
Honestly it was an amazing job, and they can customize it for you to be across all of Kuwait or in just a certain area. Oh yeah.. my team won!
It just turned into one of those funny nights, we were talking about lots of different things. And a few of us were working on the new media PC I have in the basement. Then one of our friends walks in with a bag filled with every ice cream that KDD makes and then the attack commences. I went for the Golden Cone at first and after sitting on the floor and working on the machine for a little while I went got myself a Failaka (Strawberry on a stick) Ice Cream. The HTPC turned out to be really good and we are able to just watch shows at a click of a button and we also watch a few concerts, the quality on the screen totally depends on quality of the video stored.
The screen resolution is set at 1920 by 1080 which is pretty damn good for that graphics card, but I’m having a little jitter from high resolution videos which I hope to resolve. Right after dinner two people disappear and reappear with more scoops of ice cream but that time it was from Baskin Robins. It seems it was an ice cream night, more then usual really.
So it has been a little while since I hung out with my usual cousin but thats because he suddenly took off for vacation which I didn’t approve of! We had a few shows lined up and I was planning to watch them with him, but then I found out the worst part, his vacation was for three weeks. At that point I plotted against him, and I will be watching some shows on my own since he isn’t dependable in either the food or lounging departments!
Since he came back I went over to continue the shows we were watching and it was a promising evening on Thursday. We managed to watch four episodes of Studio 60 and we had two more but I was too tired to watch.
Contents of the Evening:
There are rules that we follow, they are unwritten rules but at this rate he has broken all of them! One was the food incident, and secondly he has watched the two episodes of Studio 60 that I left with him, without me! I knew before that he couldn’t be trusted with the media, and this has only proved it to me. On another note Amanda Peet is really hot in Studio 60, I liked her since the The Whole Nine Yards. I really like this show and the humor they have it, it really is different and I don’t know how it didn’t make it for next season. I’m still going to watch all 22 episodes and enjoying all of them, too bad NBC doesn’t know a good show when they have it!
I woke up around noon to find out I’m going with my brother and a couple of guys to Kubbar. I thought why not and dragged myself out of bed and took shower getting ready to go. It was around 51C in my car as I was driving to my brothers house to go with him and then we head to Al Koot Marina. As soon as we got there we unloaded the things into the boat and waited for the other people to arrive. In total we were six people and it was really feeling hot, there were a few things to get done before we head out but that didn’t take long.
Al Koot was empty in the during the day but the Meat Market and Fish Market were filled with people. Outside was another story, we were almost ready and the only thing left was filling up some gas. The only thing I was thinking about was how hot it was and we were drinking water, freeze, shani, and everything else that was cold. We got going and it was about a 40-50 minute boat ride to Kubbar. The last time I went to Kubbar Island was in 1998 or 1999 with some friends, so I was looking forward to seeing it. The water was relatively calm and as soon as we were 10 minutes from land the water was calmer and I was just enjoying the boat ride.
It didn’t take long for us to see Kubbar in the horizon and you could see a number of boats. As we got closer there were some very interesting boats, and a lot more then I imagined. We just approached from one side to look for a spot to drop anchor. As we parked I was looking around at all the other boats, lots of different kinds, some small ones, some big ones, some yachts, some speed boats, and some fishing boats. There were also some jet skis flying around between the boats but I’m assuming they came with a boat. Jumping into the water was just perfect, but the water had a strong current so we had to tie rope to hold onto. If there wasn’t a rope it would only take about 10 seconds to be at least 5 meters from the parked boat. So at some points I was swimming against the tide and I was exhausted but it was still fun.
After a little while I kept finding some friends here and there, and they were really surprised that I was there. They never expected that I would go since its been a long time since I went. And it was surprising to find a lot of people I knew there, but it was fun. The best part was drinking something cold after swimming after little while, I think I even drank a gallon of salt water. After looking around I think the ratio of girls to guys was about 1:17 but in reality I think it was 1:7 but still thats high! It was interesting but I think it was a little crowded but it was still a hell of a lot fun and I felt tired as hell after swimming for so much.
We decided to leave around 6:10pm so that we would get there before the sun sets, and on the way back the water was so smooth that I couldn’t tell where the ocean ended and the sky begun. It was a nice feeling, and I went to sleep on the seats next to the engines. I have this ability to go to sleep if the sound is continuous, and the sound of the engine never really changed, so I took a nice quick nap. It was a very nice outing, and I’m hoping to repeat it soon.
Be warned a lot of pictures after the break!
We had a very chill night, everyone was hungry and we were watching some Justice League Unlimited in the beginning. Its funny with this group that there is a diverse amount of tastes so you can’t satisfy everyone all the time. Then the food came and everyone dove in, I was hungry as hell since I had a long day at work and so did every one else.
Then we popped in a movie but we didn’t get through since everyone wanted to leave early. At the end it was only two us watching more Justice League Unlimited and both of us are comic book nerds so we were enjoying ourselves. It felt like 1:00 am at 10:00pm so we just kept watching until 11:15 pm since we really wanted it to feel late!
