It was just one of those morning when you feel like you could have slept in the whole day. Then my friend says how bout Cafeteria Shuwaikh for breakfast, that got me awake, I haven’t been there in months and you can never go wrong with Cafeteria Shuwaikh. I have probably never seen a female creature in the vicinity of that place, I’m assuming its because of the location rather then the food, because the food is damn good.
What I really like about the place is how simple it is and how clean it is, it wouldn’t have lasted this many years if it wasn’t the case. I remember going into the back before, and this time around I checked out the back and its just as clean. The best part is that if you are hungry the food comes out pretty fast but you have to know what to choose, I go straight for the Laham Bil Ajeen, some the guys had the pizza and zaatar but I didn’t feel like them really. They have this laban which is pretty tasty as well, hit the spot for the morning before heading out.
After a long day at work I couldn’t think of anything else but food, it was a long day didn’t get back home until 8 pm. The house was empty, spoke to the family to find out there was food left for me, I was very happy since I didn’t have to wait long for food. Luckily for me it was Muchboos Deyaay (Chicken), which is usually for lunch but at that point I was happy to stuff myself silly.
Started watching the 15th episode of The Mentalist, my friend walked in since I’m supposed to fill up his hard drive with shows. I asked if we was hungry, he couldn’t believe that this was my dinner, he asked how I could eat something so heavy late in the evening. Simply enough I was hungry as hell and I could eat anything at that point, and after the meal I was laying back watching the show and enjoying myself.
*(Not to be missed)
I honestly get hungry thinking about that shawarma, it really hit the spot and I have never tasted a beef or chicken shawarma as tasty as that before. And this is only list after being in Lebanon 44 hours.
After a long day of meetings I called my friend and he took me to a place called Scouzzi in Solidare. I think I wanted to order the whole menu since I was so damn hungry. What I found interesting is that every place in Lebanon that I have been to has both Coca Cola and Pepsi, I’m not a fan of Pepsi so I keep asking specifically for Coke. In the middle east its usually one or the other never both.
I was so hungry I kept eating all the breadsticks, but when the spaghetti bolognese came out I jumped head first into it. It was the perfect meal for that day, kept me going and wanted to go right to sleep after getting so full.
I was a fan of Ninos since it opened up on the seaside, I enjoyed their food but I hated it when it go crowded. I would usually try going to at odd times to enjoy the food and not feel its too cramped, I probably haven’t been to the seaside location for over 6 years now. Since the opening of Ninos in Avenues I have been going pretty consistently, at least once every two to three weeks.
The best part is that even though they have been open for a while, the quality of food has not degraded, it still tastes damn good. I still order my Veal Limone with a side of pasta, and when I’m done with that meal, it doesn’t feel to filling. For appetizers I do like the Buffalo Wrappers and Chicken Strips. I had my magazine with me that time while waiting for people to arrive, I’m the type that wants to order right away.
I came back from a long day hungry as hell and I didn’t know what was going to be on the table. Late in the afternoon I could smell the Machboos Laham from my room, I wanted to follow the cent right then to the table, I was smelling the rice.
My brain functionality is at the lowest point, I need sustenance, and devouring what was in front of me is all I thought about. Then after all that having some mangoes for desert was perfect.
I think a few of us have been to Starbucks a few times in Kuwait since there is one on every corner. Almost every experience at a Starbucks has been pleasant, at most they are a bit too persistent with the new items but other then that the service is usually good. And a few times the staff attitude is excellent and I do enjoy talking to them. Even when going to the Starbucks in US its always a pretty nice experience because the people there do a good job of being nice to the customer and are usually genuinely nice. Whenever you have a good experience I want to leave them a good tip, and thats the case in the states but in Kuwait its another story. People in Kuwait don’t understand the concept of tipping, its understandable that tipping should be measured by the percentage of the final value, something fair. This concept doesn’t seem to be known to people in Kuwait, or they just don’t tip but thats another matter. In Starbucks there is a fear of tips, really the staff is afraid of tips. In the UK and the US there is a tip box next to the register when you pay and its split amongst the staff, in Kuwait there is no such box. If you want to tip them they step away from the table as if they would get fired for accepting the tip. Is this so they won’t make people feel obliged to tipping them? I don’t understand whats the point of having this corporate policy. I think their salaries are ranging from 200 to 250 KD, I’m not sure if their stay is provided by Al Shaya’a, I hope it is. Going back to the subject, I just think that having a tip should be allowed and it shouldn’t be denied at all.

I have met a pecular set of people who have a physiological problem with afendi. Recently I have been eating these tangerines like crazy and at all different times of the day or when they are close. I would easily have 7 – 10 pieces late at night an hour before I sleep. I even fall asleep to the smell of it on my fingers, and I found out some people can’t even be in the same room as tangerines.
Long days in the seminar made me very hungry and tired, a friend of mine joined me in most of the outings. I would come back and then go straight out not wasting anytime, I knew that if I spent a minute in the room I would pass out right away. We walked around Dubai mall the other day with so many shops open but very few quality restaurants open we decided to eat back at the hotel. The best part of staying at the Grosvenor House is knowing the consistent quality of their room service even late at night. I think I could smell the tray coming to the room door as I am just sitting there getting hungrier, but it was worth the wait, and the best part is that they don’t take too long.
I know its been a while since I posted some food pics, but I couldn’t help myself yesterday when I was having a later lunch. I have very hungry and since my diet is out the window for now I decided to indulge myself in this chicken dish. I wanted to just head first into the rice when I could smell so far away.
