Every once in a while I get this urge to have ice cream and this time during this strange weather I felt like some ice cream and sitting in front of the TV. I went thinking of Chocolate Chip, but I was surprised to see they had Orange Sherbert since its a flavor they don’t have all the time.

This was probably the most interesting restaurant that I have been to in Singapore. Everyone told me to check out the seafood while in Singapore and this was the most recommend restaurant from the hotel concierge. There was so much to choose from, you get your food fresh from the tanks.
We were recommended to get the Alaskan King Crab since they had a deal for it. We had it cut for Chili Crab and Black Pepper Crab, and we had some light appetizers. They had an amazing lobster for the appetizers and it really hit the spot, and within minutes we had our orders on the table. When I first saw the Alaskan King Crab it was still moving and it was huge, I mean it looked like it could eat a small dog, so there was a lot of meat to be cooked.
The black pepper crab tasted better then the chili crab, but both were amazing. After that amazing meal we had this interesting dessert which has this smoke coming out from under the cup. I remember sleeping a good nights sleep after that meal.
I always have this craving every once in a while for some really good steak and this time around we had it. As soon as we were done walking around we went to have lunch at Meat Company in Midenat Jumeriah. I had the ribeye steak in mind, and those succulent beef ribs that I couldn’t wait to taste. It was pretty damn humid in Dubai, and I wanted a nice cold coca cola as soon as I sit down.
I ordered about 7 orders of Beef Ribs for the whole table and some beverages were ordered right away because Meat Co is a bit slow with the food so to get those out of the way while people deliberate about their choice of steak. As soon as we were done with the steak orders those amazing beef ribs came out, I didn’t even bother using my hands, things got very messy very quickly, and I just loved those ribs. 15 minutes later the steaks show up most of them were cooked to medium or medium rare and I was very happy with the Wagyu Ribeye, it was tasty and extremely fulfilling then we were off to the movies.
One of the simple rules I follow is to have a good meal before getting on a plane, and it doesn’t really matter that its late at night. Its going to be a decently long flight with not too much sleep so I had a hearty meal just before heading to the airport, and I’m probably going to relax when sitting on my seat. The flight is simple, late night flight to Dubai, 2-3 hour lay over, then 8 hour flight to Singapore, luckily the Emirates ticket turned out to be reasonably priced compared to other airlines. And I know I’m going to sleep on the long flight after that good meal.
Set to the music “Wavesâ€ï»¿ by Camille, you can check out Perrier’s new Ogilvy Paris ad (directed by Frederic Planchon) to try and get you to buy their drink. And if that weren’t enough, below are a few more interesting ad shots for the product.
This pretty much reflects the heat that we face in Kuwait on a daily basis and drinking something cool always feels good. I’m not a big fan of carboneted water but if I do drink it would have to be Perrier, I don’t know why but I always feel so sophisticated drinking it, maybe its the bottle.
Woke up early in the morning, and my meeting was three hours later. I went over some of the finer points regarding the agenda, and went through some paperwork. 30 minutes and I was hungry, I ordered some scrambled eggs with cheese and onions, some chicken sausages and beef bacon. 20 minutes I heard a knock on my door, and I could smell the food. As soon as I removed the cover it looked better then I expected and tasted even better. A meal fit for a King.
I get pretty hungry through out the day, I keep thinking about when the next meal is going to be. Got me thinking, Falafel and Company opens up today and I remember they had amazing shawarma, I might pick up some on the way home later at night from the family engagement. Now I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping that the Seef Strip won’t be packed and there will be some parking, because I want to get down and check out their menu to know what I’m ordering.
At work I rarely think of food, I do get hungry but I don’t think I can have lunch during work because it would probably slow me down. The one thing that I do have is KDD Chocolate Milk and it does the job until later in the day. I have to say one thing about all the dairy companies and whats available. I really think that KDD is the best of them, Petra and ABC taste horrible. Everything from their juices, dairy, and ice cream really tastes bad or weird. I don’t think anyone can top KDD anytime soon, I really don’t care how its made I just love the way it tastes.
A friend called me for the soft opening of Falafel & Company from the same owners of Slider Station and its right next to it too. I wasn’t that hungry and the place was packed, I ‘m not that much into falafels but they had everything else, I was happy to see the two shawarma machines running with beef on one and chicken on the other. There were some hot and spicy sandwiches being made, some really interesting creations, I took one bite from one sandwich and tried the other one sitting all by itself.
The sandwiches were amazing, what I loved was the fresh juices being served. I kept having the Apple juice, red apple to be exact it really hit the spot. The place isn’t that big you go pick up your food, and you have A LOT of choices for the types of sandwiches and salads, the best part about these sadwiches is the fresh breakd they use, its more like a saj that they cook first then they use for the sandwiches.
The design of the place is really cool, feels just right, you go in you get your sandwich you can stand outside and eat it or take it home. Its got a cool industrial funky style to it, and everyone was standing around talking and a few people were being introduced. I ran into Mark there and met the Buzberry guys, you could see people snapping away with the cameras.
Later I got a little hungry and ordered a plain beef shawarma, and to say its probably one of the tastiest I have had in Kuwait. It was just right, not greasy at all, tasted fresh and really hit the spot. Can’t wait for the grand opening in a week or two, now I have another choice for food when I want to chill and watch a movie at home.
Today I decided to go have lunch at the Avenues, to try out Hamburger Union with a few friends since we kept hearing about. Walked into the place, you can’t miss it, its right at the entrance of Magic Planet and I remember seeing it there for months with the shutters closed. We sat down in the booth which was a little cramped but we wanted the booth. People told me that it is a UK franchise, when I asked the head waiter he told me that is from UK but the menu was changed recently to fit the needs of Kuwait, I wasn’t sure what that meant but I was too hungry to really compute.
We ordered some appetizers, a few simple things, Curly Fries, Chicken Wings, and Onion Rings. The first thing you notice about the place is that its really red, I mean realllly red and a lot of the funky work on the walls was from cardboard which felt a little cheap but who cares if the food is good. I kept thinking about Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Pretty in Pink because the colors and setting would have really fit in the 1980s. There was a conveyor belt with two sets of seats going around it, it was just like the one at Slider Station but with a lot more seats, I always wondered how they made those things and how people got to the middle if they need to go in.
The appetizers arrived and I wanted to dive right in, everything looked pretty good but the portions were a bit on the low side. The curly fries were pretty good and the sauces were great. The chicken wings looked good but when I took a bite into them they felt a bit stretchy, as if they weren’t fully cooked, so I put those down. Wasn’t a big fan of the onion rings, it wasn’t that good either but the sauce was good. So the appetizers were decent but I was really looking forward to the sliders.
I ordered four kinds of sliders and a couple of sliders each, some had bacon, some had smokey sauce, shredded lettuce, cheese, mayo, and a few other combination. About 15 minutes later all the burgers came out, and almost 8 out of 9 had red buns which looked pretty cool. I took my first bite out of the Smokey Burger which had the bacon and the only good tasting part about it was the beef bacon, but the rest was a disaster. Each one of us tried the different burgers and the best one was the one with the bacon. It was really strange the burgers were really thin, you could barely tasted them, they felt really rubbery, you would just keep chewing them. The burgers were dry and oily at the same time, I couldn’t believe how bad they all were the quality was horrible. I could honestly do a better job make patties from Americana Patties, these were bad, for the prices they were charging I thought they were wagyu burgers but they weren’t. We couldn’t finish all the burgers we stopped about 2/3 through the meal and asked for the check. The food was really over priced for that mediocre quality, the price is what fooled me I thought they were using Wagyu meat but instead it was more like rubber. At that point I felt bad, there was Johnny Rockets across from Hamburger Union and I made my friends eat at this place for lunch. The only reason I gave this place even one star is because the staff was nice, but I wouldn’t even touch their food.
