David Attel does one of his late night rounds in Chicago and heads to the Wieners Circle and its nothing like any restaurant I have seen before. This is the spot for late night after club food in Chicago and be prepared for a verbal beating because you have to have guts to order food there. I want my Mother @#$*)$% Fries and some Chili with that Bitch! Profanity is part of the menu.
After spending a week in Bahrain we had a chance to try a few different places and I’m surprised how much the food tastes good in Bahrain. I love the Adliyah area, so many restaurants to choose from, easy to walk around, they even made it nicer for walking and they opened up an Art Gallery. We had an area like that previously but it has long been destroyed by the First Ring Road project, but thats something else. Sometimes you feel like something good and some times you want fast food, so we had to try Dairy Queen and Jasmys, but DQ is better especially the ice cream. Out of the nice restaurants these are the ones we tried and were very good

Grilling on the go is the only definition of cooking in the desert, coal is your best friend and we had a lot of meat to cook. One of the surprises was one of our friends brought with him some prepacked Lambchops and Chicken Tikka from Q8BBQ. The meat were all marinated and placed in the ice box, rosemary garlic lamb chops and chicken tikka. The lamb chops tasted amazing, they were juicy and perfect, the chicken tikka was probably the best I have had in a while.
This is after we had a few hours of driving and got really hungry, cooking was simple when it came to the grill. We use the duwah as the base, burn the coal on it to prepare the coal, and start grilling on it. That day one of the guys when high up top one of the dunes to get some phone signal but it was nearly impossible to get any signal, the picture with the sand dunes and a small black dot is the guy sitting up top. Then there were the people who were hungry and sitting directly in front of the grill. After that we clean up, pack up, and keep driving around the dunes enjoying the sand.

At my last day I wanted to walk around in the old city, so my friend took me to Plaka to walk around and he said he knew the best Kabab place in all of Greece. You go, you sit, you eat, you leave, you don’t even order they don’t have anything on the menu but kabab, tzatziki, and french fries. We walked around for a bit, after 10 minutes we got to the location, and some words were exchanged between him and the guy in front of the place, and switch to perfect English welcoming me to his restaurant.
We sat down and the food came out in less then 5 minutes, he even cut a piece of kabab, top it with tzatziki and I tried taking the fork he slap my hand down and fed me the piece of kabab. I burst out laughing, he said this is how it is done in Greece, I loved the place, he was stopping every person walking and talking them into his restaurant, he was fantastic and hilarious. Service was great, people were flying around us all the time, I would ask for a coke and one other person would be on the way bringing it right away and the place was pretty big. It was more like a meat factory, and it was all kababs and lots of people kept on coming, this was the perfect meal before getting on the plane. Tzatziki is a special blend of yoghurt, cucumber, garlic, and red pepper, the taste of it worked perfectly with the bread and kabab. I just keep wondering why I haven’t been to Greece before this, I want to visit here when I’m not going for work.
We really didn’t need to reserve, there were six of us and we had a choice of any table but we had a few smokers that wanted to smoke which was a bit annoying but no one was on our side. There were 6 of us and they sat us down on a table for 8 people, we looked at the menus and everything seemed the same but a few tiems were different then Dubai, the Wagyu Rib-eye was missing but it was 90% similar.
The beef ribs came in 10 minutes, and we ordered the main courses. Each person chose his own and all of them were very different. Out of 6 orders they only messed up 2 orders, and my friend took the oppurtunity to milk the situation for all that he could. His steak was well done when he ordered medium rare, so when they brought back another steak it looked uncooked basically warmed and on the plate. But my steak and a few of the others was really good, I really enjoyed the good tasting food. They need some time to get the cooking and ordering right, the staff need some more experience but I think that it will be good. I know I’m going back for some steak again in the near future.
I thought I was out of my mind, but when I got to the Baskin Robbins I was correct with all my flavor choices. Then the Philipino guys at Baskin Robbins complained about the Egyptian call center, they don’t know the flavors and confuse the customers. Turns out the since Baskin Robins is part of Americana they put them under the same rule of Egyptian thumb, they have an overwhelming amount of Egyptians working for them in all their fast food franchises so its no surprise they are in the call center but they have no clue about the product. What surprises me is that they have Philipinos at most Baskin Robins, I honestly prefer Philipinos as they are very friendly and always give good service. So I wasn’t mixed up about the flavors but it seems I was talking to a guy who had no clue about the flavors.
It seems everyone is getting affected by the lack of all forms of milk from KDD these days but Starbucks takes it one step further. During this amazing rain I felt like getting a drink while finishing up some work this Saturday morning. To my surprise the place was packed in Bida’a, waited in line while on the phone. Got to the counter, asked for a Mocha Frapaccino, she gave me a mix of other ingredients with chocolate, and something else thrown in and it tastes the same. I said fine, instead let me have Raspberry Frapaccino, then she said they are out of stock of that as well but they have the Mango version. What I don’t understand is that they are constantly out of stock of the Raspberry Frapaccino, I would think they would see the demand and slightly stock up on it, but this is the case in a lot of the locations.
Well, I walked out and since I was close to Dahia Abdulla Al Salem I went to the Juice Place there and got me an Embra6oor (Emperor) which hit the spot while driving in the morning.
Coming back from work I called ahead and told them to put lunch, as soon as I came in dropped my things in my room, I could smell the rice from two floors up. I was trying to remain calm while heading down to eat but that composure didn’t last long, I was hungry as hell and I wanted to eat like there was no tomorrow. This is probably my favorite dish, its an automatic that I have this dish after every time I travel, its a very satisfying meal and that is what I was looking for right after work.
I was watching Lie To Me while eating, I managed to catch most of the show but my attention was initially with the food. I don’t like it when its too oily or when it isn’t cooked right but this time around it was perfect, I’m a leg man so I enjoyed those drumsticks. After I was done with the meal I did what came naturally, laid down on the couch and passed out while something was playing on the tv.
During the one day trip to Dubai to check out TAM Auto Engineering I met up with some friends to get a bite to eat and go to the movies. They didn’t have a place in mind so I directly went to Meat Company, they have been very consistent with their food, specifically the meat, and the service. We were all ridiculously hungry by the time we got to the restaurant, it was a simple order, lots of beef ribs for apetizers then straight to the steaks.
One of our friends was so hungry we was staring intently at the Kabab that came hanging on a skewer. I perfer the Rib-eye for the best steak, a combination of juicy and tasty, and on their menu I order the Wagyu Rib-Eye which is a satisfying 250 gram steak. It really hit the spot for us, cold cokes to cool off and the steaks to fill up. I’m happy they have kept up their level over the years, and will continue to go their when I’m in Dubai.
There is a long standing relationship that I have with this restaurant, I have been the best Chinese food in this restaurant for over 5 years. Its just off of Baker Street, I have been to it with friends, and I have been to it countless times on my own. This is the place the Chinese go to have authentic and tasty Cantonese Food in London, and it has all the dishes you could possibily imagine. The staff are effecient and know their food, and they are very fast, expect good service and friendly people. Over the years I have seen a lot of the same faces and they have a stringent process for the waiters to progress within the restaurant and a lot of these people have been there for years. The place looks like small restaurant from the main door but it is huge, with a private room if you need one and they are expanding. Almost every time I go to London I stop and eat at this place, even if its just a 10 hour lay over I leave the airport to get some of that amazing Peking Duck. I have had dreams where I taste the Peking Duck and remember Phoenix Palace even though it might have been over a year since I have gone to this place.
The food is just on another level, you have a very large selection. I love their prawn toast, spring roll, and hot & sour soup to start off with. And if I’m on my own I tend to have a full Peking Duck just for myself. When I eat there on my own every time I take my laptop with me and watch some anime, and recently a few tv shows and the staff doesn’t mind at all and there are always those who are curious. The staff is always friendly, when ever I’m low on Coca Cola they bring another one quickly, and by the time I’m done I am extremely satisfied and walking outside to the cold London air feels good. I walk around for a while after that with my backpack and head phones listening to music and pointing my camera as I walk. This is probably hands down one of the best no nonsense Chinese Restaurants I have ever been to and it has only gotten better over the years and hopefully many more years to come.
