I am a huge fan of Chinese food and love having it whenever I have the chance. But everytime I have chinese food in Kuwait I am a bit disappointed, its never what I expect it to be and something is always lacking. I know people talk about Peacock as the best Chinese Restaurant in Kuwait, but in my case its a disaster I have gotten food poisoning from them twice and in one case I had to stay in the hospital for the night. The other fast food places usually have one or two good dishes but thats about it, and they are not very consistent. I go to London or the US and love the Chinese food, its amazing and so satisfying, every bite of it tastes good. But in Kuwait they just can’t seem to get it 100% right and I usually eat and then regret eating the food because it wasn’t worth it and I just don’t feel good after the meal. I have tried most of the places in Kuwait and they aren’t good even in Dubai I haven’t found a place with good chinese food.
Subway sandwiches are one of my favorite because they taste fresh and don’t feel heavy after a 6inch sub. I was planning on having a 12 inch sub and I was very hungry, one time last week I called in and they said they didn’t have Turkey Breast for the sandiwch. I asked if they have alternatives and they said they have smoked Turkey which is fine by me, but it took about 5 mins on the phone to get them to understand what I mean by substitute. But last night was the worst, how can a company run out of Turkey when they make sandwiches, they told me that they are out of all kinds of Turkey except for one location in Burj Al Bahar in Hawally and they don’t delivery from there. The supply ran out, which is extremely unexpected, and I was hungry and didn’t have any other option. I really didn’t feel like eating something heavy, and at that point I was starving. How can a company operate like this? They don’t know what their needs are enough to judge the supply of fresh meat they should keep? There are so many subways in Kuwait I don’t know where they are but how could all of them run out of Turkey.
I was hungry and felt like Chinese food, I was asking for something different and my friend recommend China Kitchen. I ordered a lot of food, I was hungry and I wanted to try a few dishes. Chicken Chow Mein, Sweet & Sour Shrimp, Mongolian Beef, Sweet & Sour Shrimp, Shrimp Toast, and Mixed Fried Rice. Overall it was good a few things weren’t too great, I liked the Sweet & Sour Shrimp, Mixed Fried Rice, loved the Chicken Chow Mein, and the Mongolian Beef was insanely spicy. I wont order from them again since I have tasted better and the next morning I regretted eating so much.

While in London I was walking around the park and stopped at one of these small convenience stores in the park for ice cream. It was 4 degrees outside and Is till had the urge for ice cream, it tastes good and feels good, I didn’t care that it was cold outside. I wasn’t sure what to take, I wanted that vanilla with a flake sticking out but they didn’t have the machine and I saw the KitKat ice cream which intrigued me. I took a small bite off the top and then tasted the ice cream, it was really good and I ended up finishing it up in seconds. I wasn’t expecting a Kit Kat Cone!

Usually I try to eat earlier in the day so that I don’t get too full at night, I try to keep it light at night as to maintain or lose weight. I did a pretty good job of losing the weight I gained going from 96 KG back to 93 KG. Last night was a different story, I got so caught up with work and then a few social events that I forgot to eat and didn’t manage to get home until 10:45 pm. At that point I didn’t care what the hell time it was and decided to eat a very late lunch. Did I love the muchboos laham and kubbah bil laban, yes I did very much, I enjoyed every bite and then laid down in front of the tv for a good half hour before deciding to move again. This rarely happens with me but last night it was a much needed meal.
Slider Station is one of the best Burger Places in Kuwait, I do love their recipes and their huge selection of burgers. I haven’t been there in a little while due to being busy and not feeling like driving too far to eat, but the other day I had a chance to eat since it was right after a meeting. With the weather getting nicer and nicer the outside patio area was packed, no seats available. At that point I was so hungry that I didn’t care where I sat, so we sat upstairs and ready to order.
I quickly went through the menu and I felt like a regular burger and a rib eye quesadilla, the quesadilla seemed enticing, I wasn’t sure what to expect. We also ordered an assortment West Coast, Dynamite, and Midnight Sliders. When the food came I pounced it right away, I was hungry as hell. The burgers came out first, and they brought out the Rib Eye Quesadilla which was the best and freshest Quesadilla I have had in a while, it was really good and the Rib Eye was genius, if you haven’t had it then you should try it. As I was walking to wash my hands after the meal was annihilated, I saw this large list called “THE BEAST CHALLENGE” and I don’t even know what is that challenge, I didn’t think of asking what it was when I was walking out but I have feeling I will be trying it out. There was a list of people on it, I wonder if that means they were successful or just tried.

When you break your fast on an airplane the last thing you want is airplane food so I decided to just have a date and a glass of water and wait until I landed. This is what I call the Tricolore, three types of rice and chickens to match. I was looking forward to laying back after eating that dish and watching some tv. I know some of you might be wondering about my diet, it is still going on and I am maintaining a weight around 92 KGs. The next step is going to be consistently exercising but that is going to be a plane for a later stage. But that really hit the spot.
I’m not one usually for deserts but a friend sent over the “Baked” cookies and said they are amazing. I wasn’t too crazy about them since I’m not the biggest cookie person and before futoor everything smells good, but I won’t lie I took a wiff of it when I opened the container and its torture during the Ramadan. In the bucket there are two kinds of cookies, chocolate chip cookies and brownie filled chocolate chip cookies.
It smelled really good but I thought I would leave judgment until after futoor and I’m a diet so I will only have one of each. Late at night after finishing with the family rounds I had a piece of each and they were heavenly, but thats not the final judgement. My almost two year old nephew came wobbling in when we saw me eating and just kept saying “Abi Abi Abi”, so I gave him a piece of the cookie, he then walked away as he was chewing on it. 20 seconds later he comes back smiling saying “Abi Abi Abi” and reaching up, so the cookies are just good, they have made me the favorite of my nephew for that night. I know I will be ordering them when I have a chance. To Order Just called Baked @ 97771791
Its been a bit of hectic couple of weeks with work and family, and when I have a chance I eat what I can. Usually I try to eat a few times a day to keep losing weight but at this point I think I have bottomed out. On a normal morning I would weigh around 92.8 KG, and the lowest I reached in the last two weeks was 91.7 which was pretty good, and the drop has been on the slow side for the past month but overall I’m very happy. From 107 KG to 92.8 over a 5 month period which is really good but the last month has been around a kilo or two at most, I had a faster drop initially. I have also had a few more off days the last two weeks then I usually do but thats probably because I keep thinking that Ramadan is around the corner. I know I need to start going to the gym consistently because its the only way I’m going to lose more weight. One thing I’m going to try during Ramadan is not to eat too much at Futoor because I know I’m going to be hungry as hell.
