Sony Net-Sharing Cam...

sony-net-sharing-cam.jpg

Sony made a video camera with online users in mind, it can record 5 hours of MPEG-4 video and take 5.0 Megapixel snapshots. Its coming out in Sept for $200, and it has a 2.4 inch swivel screen. I’m curious of the quality of the video, but they are targeting a specific market with this type of recorder. I would want to see output quality of it at night and during the day.

Becker Highspeed 7934...

dsc03924.jpg

Becker is out of Germany, and the company is a subsidiary of Harman International Inc. which owns other companies which you would be familiar with such as JBL, Infinity, Harmon Kardon, and Lexicon. I saw this product in the Harmon Kardon shop in Mall of the Emirates. I have been thinking about a GPS Unit for the whole Gulf in the Landcruiser but I haven’t really looked into it and the Garmin units were too complicated for my use, so I was looking for something simpler and I found it.

dsc03922.jpg

Main Functions:

  • Navigation
  • Picture Viewer
  • Music Player

Features:

  • 3.5″ Touch Screen Display
  • Navigation in GCC & 37 European Countries
  • 1 GB SD-Card (Included, and up to 2 GB)
  • MP3 Sound By SD-Card
  • Picture Viewer
  • Powerful Processor allowing for MP3/WMA playback while Navigating
  • Voice Navigation in a choice of 17 Languages

dsc03923.jpgI have already installed the GPS unit in the Landcruiser and has been very useful, but with a GPS Syncronization time sometimes takes too long. I got some testing to do with all the different functionalities but after a little use I’m really happy with the results but there are a few things to work out.

Review: W880i...

dsc01276.jpg

This is the first Sony Ericsson phone which is ultra thin and I think they have a very good product on their hands. There are very useful features which are integrated into the phone, and it packs a punch for a very thin phone. After having the phone I really do like it and it meets most of my requirements for a good phone.

Pros

  • Extremely Light
  • Simple Interface
  • A Phone, Not a Smartphone
  • Track ID, finds out the title and singer of 99% of songs
  • RSS Reader (Simple Setup)
  • Very bright and high quality screen
  • Powerful Bluetooth (Doesn’t disconnect from Bluetooth devices)
  • Loud Speaker
  • Great MP3 playback and play list capability
  • Alarm, Calendar, Notes, Tasks and some integration between them to see on your calendar
  • Switching from Normal to Silent profile is simple (Other profiles difficult)
  • Lots of details per contact (but limited to 5 numbers)

Cons

  • Short Battery Life (From Medium Usage it lasts a day, with heavy use it lasts less then a day)
  • Switching Profiles is a bit tedious except Silent profile
  • Buttons a bit small but you get used to it
  • Limited to 5 numbers per name and only a certain kind per number (A bit annoying)
  • Limited space for large amounts of text messages (You just have to delete)
  • Camera quality is not that good

Hirobo Indoor Helicopter...

dsc01931.jpg

I saw this helicopter at the hobby shop in Mall of the Emirates , when he started flying it around and it seemed so simple I decided it wouldn’t be too bad if I tried it out. I almost took out a few customers in the but I really enjoyed it. So I decided to pick one up and try it out at home.

dsc01947.jpg

Since trying to fly a helicopter for the first time is a bit difficult I have had a few crash landings, and a few people jump out of the way of an out of control helicopter. Don’t worry it isn’t dangerous! The rotors are made of stirefoam and can’t hurt, so they break off. The helicopter needs 4 rotors to fly and control it, as of right now I have broken 8 rotors which are basically all the spares because of all the mishaps I have had. It is a hell of a lot of fun, and once you get the hang of it its fantastic. I am getting better but I still need a few spares to fly it, so I have grounded the helicopter for now until I get another of spare rotors for the copter. 45 minute charge to get 7 minutes of ridiculous fun!

My Old School Phones!...

DSC01937.jpg

Over the years I have been through a few different phones, and I usually sell my old phones if they don’t break over the years. These are some of the phones that I still have in my cupboard and I really used and abused them, each one has a story.

DSC01938.jpg

  • Nokia 7110 – The Matrix Phone – This was the first phone I bought myself and I loved it so much that when I broke the first one I bought another one later the same year in 1999. It had the scrolling control in the middle so we could play pong on the phone against the computer or against another player using infra-red, there isn’t even bluetooth on this phone. I took real good care of this phone and it still works.
  • Nokia 6600 – This was an interesting phone from Nokia since it was the first instance of the Symbian OS and Palm was still at the top with its PDAs! It was great with all the programs and tweaks available on this phone, it kept going for a while but then it totally crashed out after two years but it was great, I was able to use songs for ring tones!
  • Nokia 6230 – This hands down is the best phone ever made by Nokia, it could do everything you could want from a phone efficiently. My phone still works and I use it as a backup if the phone I’m using goes down for some reason. This is when they had good graphics on the phone and they could barely improve it with the 6230i, nothing could replace it and they can’t repeat such a great phone.
  • Imate SP3 – this is an interesting phone, I have been using it for years now, the Windows OS is real funky and different to deal with but surprisingly it always works with no issues, never crashed, no real problems, the interface is just a bit akward or annoying. I use it whenever I go to Europe since it has all the numbers and information stored in it. I remember riding my bike across London and wearing a sling back pack with this phone in the front pocket, it was so loud that I could always hear it while I’m riding with my headphones on.

Always a story to a phone!

Hobby Centre UAE...

DSC03560.jpg

This is one store that I can’t help but walk into every time I pass by in Mall of the Emirates. It reminds me of my childhood sitting there for hours a day putting together those Tamiya and Kyosho cars and trucks. I think I learned my first abilities for skidding by manipulating these vehicles and making them do things they aren’t supposed to do. I still find them extremely fun if I get to control them, I just think that I don’t have the time to put one together. I never had a chance to mess around with helicopters or airplanes since they were very expensive and could do a person damage if they make a mistake. The reason I liked having cars from one brand is because I could always use one vehicle as spare parts for the other one, the problem I had was putting too much power and the gears couldn’t take it. The fun part was seeing the vehicle sliding around when they take off.
