Nokia E71 is here...

After some thorough searching we got our hands on an E71, there is a lot of demand for it in the market. Selling from 155 KD to 165 KD, and since there is a high demand there is a mark up so its around 170 KD to 190 KD depending on the shop you go to and availability. K.theKuwaiti will be posting a review about it as soon after he has put it through its pace.

Gorillapod SLR...

I have been looking for a suitable small and camera tripod that can be carried in  back pack without giving you too much pain after some time. After some search and recommendations I managed to find a Gorillapod on one of my quick trips. They had a normal one but after some searching we found the SLR version of the Gorillapod, which I think every photographer should have. It does look a bit strange but its extremely functional, can be used in different situations to get the perfect shot. It can be used both with an SLR and a normal camera because of the small adapter they have with it.

Popcorn Hour A-100...

I placed an order for the Popcorn Hour after doing some research about it, seemed like a very interesting and intuitive product. Streams all kinds of media to the TV through the network, and you can install a hard drive in it you want. The difficult part is that this product is on back order, I placed my order a while back and forgot about it.

After a month and half I come back from work to find this box in my room, only to rip it open to find that its the Popcorn Hour A-100. It is very small, compact, and has all the outputs for a any type of TV, and the best part is that it plays 1080P videos. It can play from an internal hard drive, USB attached drive, a network storage, and media across a network. I have some testing to do on it, I have some very heavy 1080P movies to test on it, and see its capabilities from there I can tell if its really all its cracked up to be.

Headset Roundup...

I have had a chance for a while now to try out different headsets over the years, and I thought I would just post up my basic thoughts on these headsets, not a real thorough review but at least to stay away from a few headsets out there.

Popcorn A-100...

Plays MPEG2, H.264, VC-1, and other Video storage in High Definition 1080p on your screen. You can stream all your video, audio, and photo content to your screen with the Popcorn A-100. It can play from different sources such as a PC, NAS, digital camer, USB mass storage device, internal HDD if you purchase it, and from Youtube, Google Video, and Metacafe.

Its a really nice small package which packs a punch and a reasonable price to boot, and I have wanted to try it out but it has been sometime they said they would ship the machines, its just a waiting game at this point.

Price: $179

Sony Ericsson C905...

I’m always on the lookout for a good usable phone, and over the past few years I have switched from being a Nokia User to a Sony Ericsson user. And let those Apple Phone users get lost with their iPhones, I will be enjoying this phone. Sony Ericsson went all out with this phone, and I really do like how it is the finish of this phone. Every once in a while they come out with a very nice set of phones, and this one is leading the pack, its supposed to be priced around the same as the K850 when it first came out. I’m not usually into sliding phones, but this one seems to fit the bill.

New Sony Ericsson Headsets...

HBH-PV 715 seems to be the cheapest of the three, and is – once again, in my opinion – the better looking of the bunch as well. It’ll come in either the pictured white trimming or a black one.

HBH-PV-720 is the headset for the more sophisicated and fashionable of us. You can personalize its look with StyleUp covers, and it comes with a pouch and a silver necklace.

HBH-PV-740 is the professional headset for the business man or woman. It’s the only one of the headsets to feature a status display, and it’s the only one to come with a headset desk stand and USB charger. Apart from that, you also get the silver necklace with the HBH-PV-740.

Sony has come out with three new bluetooth headsets, I have been looking around for a bluetooth headset for some time now. I lost my previous one, and I can’t seem to find any in the market, they are all gone. it will be some time before they are released, but the 740 looks to fit my needs, I like a caller ID screen since that means I don’t need to take my phone out of my pocket when I can look at the headset to decided whether to answer or not.

VOIX MPX 2.1...

2.1 speakers with iPod dock from VOIX, they do look like twigs but they can fit anywhere and produce good sound. Each speaker pumps out 72 watts each, there is an active speaker and a passive speaker, on the active speaker you can directly plug the iPod into it, any iPod including the iPhone. You can either set it up to be directly plug the TV into or using an a/v receiver configuring it from there.

Camera Suction Mount...

Who doesn’t like those car chases with the right angles, strange camera shots from vehicles, and moving vehicle shots. To get these types of shots you need a camera suction mount which I have been looking into every once in a while. It wasn’t a necessary item but I always wish I had it, and after a couple of weeks ago a friend called me up and told he got me a really good camera mount.

It looks like one hell of a heavy duty camera, but I have to make sure after some testing that it will hold on and do the job. I really like hot flexible it is, and I have had it mount onto the shelf for over 5 days now and it won’t budge which is a good sign. I will test it with a non-essential camera on a moving vehicle before using my DSLR. The overall quality is apparent from the moment you use it, and I can’t wait to use it.

Apple Support Conversation...

I decided to call the Apple store in Marina since I was told they could probably fix the problem. It was an interesting conversation for sure.

Me “Hello is this the Apple Store in Marina”
Her : “Yes”
Me “Can I speak technical support?”
Her “What?”
Me “Can I talk to the fixing people”
Her “Call 224737”
Me “Just a question how long would it take to fix an iPod Touch”
Her “Warranty or no”
Me “Yes Warranty”
Her “3 – 5 Months”
Me “What?!?!?!?!?!?! Ok, never mind”

Then I call technical and they told me it takes 3 months for the Apple Warranty claim which is nuts, so I told them I would pay for the fix, but they don’t fix Apple iPod Touches in Kuwait, they fix them in Dubai. I said fine as long as I receive my iPod Touch in a timely manner, but 3 to 5 months is just ridiculous.
