LunaTik Multi-Touch Watch – Kickst...

Scott Wilson is the designer behind the TikTok & LunaTik that has stormed the web the past month, every tech and designer website talking about it. It honestly deserves the fame just because of the unique and high quality design, it even appealed to me.

TikTok and LunaTik simply transform the iPod Nano into the world’s coolest multi-touch watches. The idea to use the Nano as a watch was an obvious one ever since the product was announced. But we wanted to create a collection that was well designed, engineered and manufactured from premium materials and that complemented the impeccable quality of Apple products. Not just clipped on a cheap strap as an afterthought. We wanted to create a product that your friends and strangers would stop you and ask “WTF is that??? And where can I get one?!”

That isn’t the only thing that got me interested, I clicked on the link and found myself at the TikTok+LunaTik Kickstarter page. This was an interesting experience, you pledge certain amount of money and you get a product or certain products all based on the amount you pledge, its like preordering the product at the price you choose based on the package you want. Turns out Kickstarter is a new concept which helps designers and product developers to get the income they need to make their product, its a unique and fantastic approach to connect the developers with the consumers. TikTok+LunaTik was an extremely successful result, the goal of the pledges was $15’000 but it shot past it up to $941,718 which is extremely alot more then they were expecting. I pledged $160 to get the TikTok & LunaTik, I honestly never really thought about the iPad Nano except after seeing this design, it would make it easier more me to put on a watch and listen to music while riding then to have it in my pocket. The design is genius and because of this design it urged me to get the Nano, so I think they have been successful in designing a product which would appeal to people and everyone loved it. I think that the Kickstarter Platform is fantastic and I’m looking at other products that they might have, it ranges from music to photography equipment, I’m enjoying seeing these interesting products.

Gmail MailBox Overload...

Recently I got a warning from Gmail that I am reaching my mailbox limit, I never thought that I would hit the 7GB mark but it seems years of not deleting any files has resulted in a large pile up of files. I still search through old files for information and I love that I don’t have to delete, I know that I have files which are unnecessary so luckily this post was shared by a friend on GoogleReader so it was perfect timing, talking about an online application called FindBigMail which integrates with your Google Account.

The software solution works very simply, you just enter your Gmail address, even works with domains registered with Gmail apps. After you authorize FingBigMail to sort through your account, it goes through it to check for files sizes. It categorizes files bigger then 2MB, Bigger then 500 KB, Bigger then 100 KB, and small. Each one of these search factors is created as a label in your Gmail and files are sorted into automatically which makes it extremely easier to delete files with attachments that you don’t need any more. After I did that I managed to free 500 MB right away, and the rest I need to think if I want to delete them or not, I’m taking my time with them. This is the best application to help clean up your mailbox.

New Gmail Labels:

  • FindBigMail – Top 20
  • FindBigMail > 2MB
  • FindBigMail > 500 KB
  • FindBigMail > 100KB

The New Macbook Air...

Apple has just launched new ultra-thin Macbook Air laptops at the Back To Mac event in California. Two new Announced were a 11.6-inch Macbook Air and a 13.3-inch Macbook Air. I do enjoy when Steve Jobs talks crap about other company’s products, he said that netbooks were cheap weak powered PCs, with the launch of the iPads they took a decent hit in netbook sales and I think with the new Macbook Air it’s a nail in the coffin for Netbooks.

The new Macbook Air notebooks have been redesigned and all feature SSD drives ranging from 64GB to 256 GB which are very quiet and long lasting, they weigh almost nothing and are less an then inch thick. Both laptops maxed out with the best hardware aren’t too pricey in comparison to the other apple products, $1507 for the 11 inch and $1907 for the 13 inch.

OCZ RevoDrive SSD...

SSD Drives have improved performance of machines over the past few years but there is still a few kinks to be worked out including decrease of price. A 500 GB SSD is extremely expensive in comparison to normal drives but you are somewhat guaranteed that the drive won’t fail. Now OCZ has taken it to a different level with PCI-E SSDs, which now you can use to boot and its insanely fast. The PCI-E SSD is a new edition and available from 50 GB up to 480 GB which is pretty good but then there is the high price of this technology which ranges from $300 to $1500.

SSD HD

  • Read: up to 285MB/s
  • Write: up to 250MB/s

PCI-E SSD

  • Read: Up to 540 MB/s
  • Write: Up to 450 MB/s

iTunes Account – Haywire...

iTunes9.2

I have gotten used to iTunes for all my iPad needs and music downloads, luckily I do have a US Credit Card that I use with the account. But every once in a while the account acts up and says that my Credit Card is denied, when I call the Credit Card company they tell me nothing is going on, and everything is fine. I try again and still the same issue, I tried different cards and the same problem. Then I leave it for 24 hours and try it again, and everything works like normal. Its very strange.

There was a little news a little while ago that some accounts which have iTunes and paypal attached got fraudlent charges of ridiculous ammounts. One guy got charges up to $800’000 which is insane, but he managed to sort it out between paypal, iTunes, and his bank so he didn’t get completely screwed but it is scary. When this strange account thing started happening a few months back I changed all my passwords on all the accounts that I’m using with iTunes just incase, because I was a little freaked out. Then it just happened again so I emailed Apple about the issue with my account.

There reply was good and reaction type was great, within a few hours they told that they had some minor glitches in the system and reset my account so everything is fine. Also because of the incovenience they gave me credit for 6 free single songs which is fantastic. I would have been happy with them just fixing my account but they went above and beyond that.

Libratone Beat...

For that wireless speaker you have been looking for the Libertone Beat has the answer. I really like the style of this speaker and its different forms of connectivity. A wireless speaker with a 50W bass and two 25W tweeter/midrange drivers. Just plug in the USB transmitter to your PC or the bundled 30-pin connector to an iOS device and you’re good to go. Plays audio from iPod, iPhone or iPad using the wireless 30-pin transmitter (range 10 m) or from a USB equipped MAC/PC using the wireless USB transmitter (range 30 m).You can even have a wired option if you would, you can play wirelessly over your iPad, iPhone, or iPod and controller multiple Beat Speakers. I think this is the best wireless speaker I have seen yet, and for $595 it’s worth for those who need a speaker such as this.

Sonos iPad App...

Sonos is the best premiere music system that you could ever want, integrates with almost everything last.fm, Rasphsody, Sirius XM Radiio, Rhapsody, Pandora, and all other music services. That doesn’t include it’s great music integration with iTunes, all your playlists, with album meta data and album covers. Now Sonos have released their new iPad Application which is amazing on the iPad, full integration, control of every aspect of this system. I have one in my room and on in the diwaneya, I like listening to music whenever I’m working on something. The Sonos Application is fantastic on the iPad, its very smooth interface and excellent integration. Sonos is a bit slow with advancement at times but when they release a new product or software it’s always a solid and excellent product. If you don’t have the Sonos system you really don’t know what you are missing out and the iPad application is an amazing addition to this music system.

Windows Home Server! Different Versions...

WHSsm

I have been talking about Windows Home Server for some time since I have been using it since the original version. At first it seemed like a pet project from Microsoft thats on the side and has a cult following, seeing that a lot of people really do love it they have developed it forward and its only getting better. You can use it in different forms, in simple hardware setups to complex 20+ TB Storage as I have. Some people use it to control other machines throughout the house, to control the lighting system throughout the house, streaming movies and music to every location.

Now this is the best comparison I have seen yet of all the possible versions, for a prosumer WHS Vail is your best bet which is coming out in the next few months, I’m hoping at the end of the year at the latest. The Original WHS was based on Windows Server 2003 and has its limitations, and now with WHS Vail those limitations have been passed since its based on Windows Server 2008. Aurora is the more business oriented version with features that Admin want but its not Windows Server 2008, not that much. I can’t wait for Vail, I’m honestly waiting for it since I’m facing a few hiccups with my current setup since I have advanced it so much, as soon as its officially out I’m installing it and moving the data all around.

The Wallee – iPad Wall Mount...

There are lots of iPad addicts out there and I know I am one of them, you want it everywhere, in your bedroom, living room, office, kitchen and even your bathroom. I always wondered about mounting the iPad to the wall with some information for me such as temperature, or the music playing on the system, or any other information presented on it. Until now there wasn’t a simpler mount then Wallee, you have the case on your iPad with multiple mounts in your kitchen, office, bedroom, and even outdoors next to your bbq if you’d want. The Wallee uses a patented wall plate with locking “X” that you can put almost anywhere and a hard protective shell for the iPad itself. I purchased four mounts and two cases since I want to install it in a few places to present information for me or play back family pictures for me. This is the perfect simple mount, and its very clean with a just one draw back is that you have to drill into the wall to install the mount but its small and I don’t mind seeing. If you are looking for a mount then this is the mount for you.
