Nexus Psile Media PC...

psile_black.jpg

This is a cool looking PC, its really slick and very compact. Its a Core 2 Duo, 320 GB Hard Drive, DVD Burner, but it only comes on Windows Media and no the only graphics output is through the mother board. You cant even install one if you wanted. I just thought it was a cool looking case, but extremely over priced. I could just go with a shuttle case and fully configure it without half the issues of this case. $1600 starting is just rediculous, but I still think the case is cool looking, thats what caught my eye!

Killer NIC...

big_killer_7.jpg

If you ever wanted a heavy duty NIC for gaming and heavy duty networking. It will help speed up your gaming, and less freezing during the game. Because a lot of the cpu operations have been directly shifted to the NIC its self, thats why its called Killer NIC. The way they built this thing its as if you have a pc on your network card. If you ever build a gaming PC then this would be needed for online gaming! If Im going to build a PC any time soon, this would have to be included! hehehe!

Whats cool about Alienware is that they send you status updates so you know what phase your laptop is in. I think Im supposed to recieve it in 10 days. I cant wait for it! I also ordered a Xbrand Cool Travel, and a Xbrand 360 Adjustable Stand which I think will help when Im taking the laptop around.,br/> and I dont want to place on my lap and a nice setup for placing it on my table.

Alienware Quality...

alienware.jpg

This is just one of things that ties to Alienware Computers is the slick look, and the quality that I have gotten out their computers. I have had three alienware PCs, and now Im getting a laptop from them. Fully loaded to satisfy my needs, and long term usage. Aside from that! I have this Alienware Cube that I got two years and 10 months ago now and it is still running amazingly! I have all my apps on it, and I use for gaming like Battlefield 2, Hitman: Blood, City of Villains, and I even tried WOW on it. Its been great, since I had my little dilema with my other PC I have gone back to using this one. And I have to say that I am extremely happy! I have had it on for 24 days and its still operating as if I just switch it one with a total of 68 tabs and 3 windows in FireFox plus downloading 10 Gigs a week on Torrent to catch up with the stuff that I lost! I forgot how good this computer was! I have to say that I am happy Im getting the new laptop! I cant wait to get it! I know some people dont like Alienware but every PC I have had from them I have been happy! And I love the Respawn kit, which is a DVD image of your HD when you first get it, so if you really have a lot of problems after a while and want to reinstall all you have to do is insert the DVD and it will over write the hard drive, and its as if you just unboxed it! Pretty simple and nothing much to it.
Specs of the Alienware Cube:

  • Pentium 4 3.4 Ghz
  • 1 GB Ram
  • GEForce 6800 GT 128 MB
  • 500 GB HD
  • DVD-RW 2x

HD Delema Part 2...

dscf0611.jpg

After trying to find help here, I had no choice but to send the drive to the states.

I sent the HD to DriveSavers, because it seemed they were my only hope. After sending the drive through fed-ex, they contacted me telling me they recieved it.

Then a couple of hours later they contacted me, asking me to call them. So I did, i was hoping for good news and the gentlement I spoke to sounded like he had bad news. When he was talking to me it sounded as if he wanted to tell me someone died, but the hope of getting my information back was totally lost. The feeling really sucked, that I lost a lot of photos, music, and video. But Mostly its the photos that I lost that are annoying me. But I have learned to back-up everything! And I will! At least I know some places that I could get some of the pictures but not everything.

Well a lot has been lost, but lesson learned.

Now Im back to square one for a bit. Im happy I found a good amount of music on my mp3 player, and I have a good amount of music on my laptop. Im also going to ask my friend to burn his music to a DVD and send it to me from the states, because we have the same amount and same taste. And then I am downloading huge amounts from Torrent at this point. About 60 – 70 GBs worth of anime, and a couple of GBs worth of new tv shows. The one thing that I cant recover is pictures of my family and friends. But at least I have some copies of it, so its not all lost, but still extremely frustrating.

Laptop Choices...

My laptop is still in operational condition and chugging along. But I will probably buy a laptop sometime in the near future. It will probably be decided in the next week.

macbook4black20050516.jpg

I’m just waiting for any anouncements from Apple that might be coming out on september 25th based on Macrumors.com saying they will anounce the Core 2 Dou to be sold in the MacBook. I would snatch it up right away, because I really want to try an Apple and I think that would be perfect for my usage. Of course I would get the black MacBook since I think its really cool!
creative_hero_big.jpg

And if they dont anounce that then Im not waiting until January for another anounce from Apple, rather I would be going with an Alienware m3450 Core 2 Dou, because I love their laptops and my laptop has been great the past two years from extreme usage. And I havent had any problems with their equipment and they have good service. I will ordered it with really good specs and I love their screens and I think 14.1 is the perfect size. I prefer laptops that are portable and light. I love the alien eyes on the back!

So I just have to wait a little while longer! And Im taking this week to backup everything to the Infrant! So I wont loose anymore data! I will be posting about the Infrant a little later, but I havent even had the time to unbox it.

HD Delema!...

Caviar_EIDE.jpg

I know some people who have gone through this, and Im the one who is always preaching about back-up and it has happened to me. One of the Hard Drives on my computer has failed! Western Digital Hard Drive Failure! Its a four year old hard drive which had all the latest videos, music, pics, and personel stuff.

The problem that I had is that the HD failed the day I was flying to the states so I couldnt even have access to my anime that I have stored up. But what is driving me nuts is that all the pictures of my Nephew are stored on this Hard Drive, and Im going to do everything possible to fix it. The guys in Hawally didnt open the HD because he said it sounds like a Head Crash and they dont have the tools to fix it, which I appreciate him telling me. So now I have to send it to drive specialists to deal with this mechanical failure. And from what I read you have to be very careful with it, and the faster you deal with it the better the chances of retrieving the data. Even though I was gone for two weeks the HD wasnt moved, so Im going to send it to DriveSavers to see if they can get things back for me since they had good customer feedback. I have to have my nephews pics back!

The funny part is that I ordered an Infrant ReadyNAS NV two weeks before, but it seems it didnt arrive soon enough. Its just my luck but Im hoping for the best, and I hope people back up most of their data. I will setup the Infrant NV and post pics about it later, and I will keep you updated about what DriveSavers say they can do.  I have most of my stuff backed up, its just the items from the last 6 months that I didnt back-up, but now Im going to back up on a monthly basis so it wont happen ever again! (I hope)

The Laptop Saga Continues!...

As I have mentioned in my previous posts about the relationship me and my laptop have, well its a bumpy one but we get a long… for now!

Current Issues:

  • CD/DVD drive doesnt show when I start up.
    • I have to restart and push the drive in, and it may show up!
  • Still having to login then logout then login to make everything work.
    • Basically to get everything to start up right I have to go through this process everytime, I think my family is very familiar with Windows login/logout sound by now
  • Some how sound came back of its own accord! And its not fluctuating or anything now

I think its fighting this battle, and limping through! Its not going to die quietly! And I like that about the laptop! thats why im sticking with it for a little while longer! Lets see how it goes, and after the WWDC I know now the Leopard wont be out until Spring of 2007. So Im sure nothing newer is going to come out anytime soon, but I shall be patient.

Review: Seagate Portable HD...

35224-porta-artikel.jpg

seagate-kit.jpg

Everyone loves extra storage, and more storage! You can never have enough storage! You are always bound to run out of storage! Enough about storage let us go to the device!

This is the Seagate Portable HD, and I have the 160 GB version. Have you ever been over at friend’s place, and wanted to transfer movies, a lot of pictures, or mp3s and it would take too long to burn to DVD. And most other external HDs are just too bulky and some require software to be installed. This is your perfect solution!

Pros:

  • Large amount of space
  • Very fast USB 2.0 transfer (480 Mbps)
  • Very compact case
  • No power cord neccesary, powered through the USB.
  • No software neccesary, completely plug-n-play.
  • Works on Windows and Macs
  • Very Durable Case, and internal structure.
  • Not heavy at all
  • Software available for back-up use (Never tried it)

Cons:

  • A bit pricey, and not available everywhere.

Price: $250.00
