Dell Kuwait Contact...

3007wfp_qtr_300.jpg

For those who were asking for the Dell contact in Hawally who gets what ever you want to order from Dell such as screens, laptops, and PCs.

His name is Happy.

His shop is Translinkglobal on the ground floor of the Walla’a complex.

Number: 2620705

Mobile: 6550065

He is an honest person and I liked dealing with him, and so did my cousin. He brings it down as low as he can. Sometimes you just know an honest person when you meet him, and it does help when you grill the hell out of him and ask him to show you the real cost of the item your buying, at that point I didnt want to rob the guy. If you want the same screen or any item like that he is the person to go through and it will take 3 weeks.

MacBook, Pro, & Nano Alacantra Cove...

alacantracover.jpg

I was looking around for some covers for my laptop then I stumbled upon these amazing looking Alacantra covers, but they turned out to be only for Apple Macbooks, Macbook Pros, and Nano. Alacantra is the nice material that European luxury car makes use in their vehicles, and now its being used as a cover for Apple products to protect them from all possible scratchs. I really think that this is a great accessory, and I wish they made it for other laptops.

eMule...

For a little while I have been having a lot of problems with Kazaa Lite, Limewire, and Bearshare so I pretty much stopped using them. After looking around I found a really good P2P software which lets me get what music or other things I might need.

The problems I was having with those P2P programs was that they were always givin me fake files when I download them or there would be a ton of spyware. This new eMule P2P software operates a little differently then the rest, but it still connects to multiple networks, and its not the most user friendly but its really good. The best part about it is that there is no spyware attached to it.

High End PCs...

area-51-7500.jpg

Alienware, Voodoo, Dell, and every other PC manufactures is going crazy with the Intel Core 2 chips. Alienware, Dell, and Voodoo have come out with these insane chips and maxed out setups.

I basically took these PCs to the highest they can go! I got the Alienware PC on its own up to $7893.00, the Dell up to $5470.00, and the Voodoo $9876.00.

You can get the core 2 duo up to 2.93 Ghz, I maxed out the ram up to 8 GBs, the Main HD up to 750GB, and other hard drives up to 1.5 Terabytes (1500GB) , the Voodoo I got it to 3 TBs! Two high end Graphics cards with at least 512MB on it up to 1GB! High End audio card and Running Windows Vista!

It seems that if you want new tech and want it now then you can get it, and if you max out these PCs then you wont be needing any upgrade anytime soon. Pretty far down the line really! But its insane the tech you can get right now, I think my PCs are pretty damn good really, and I do a lot with them. But if any of these PCs even flex their muscles compared to my PC its like an Abrams M1 Battle Tank running over my Toyota microbus! Just no comparison, but this is excessiveness to the extreme, but if I or any techie could get their hands on these kinds of PCs its like being in heaven! hehehe! So insane, and so beautiful!

I am EXTREMELY curious even though I know it would be going against my better judgement! Check it out people, if anyone tries it please let me know! The anticiptation is killing me!

DRM? Microsoft!?!?...

zune_triple_1.jpg

This is the Zune with all its kinks and features.

There is something that is extremely annoying that they keep forgeting to mention, which is DRM. What is DRM you ask. Well it is something I wanted to clear up since it is quite important to your user rights.

DRM limits what you can do with the audio or video that you buy. Basically your renting the audio from the content owners, and you only have the audio for a limited amount of time. You can not transfer the audio to any other machine, and you can not burn it to CD.

I dont want to go into the details of what DRM is, but I just wanted to say how it might affect us. Whats good about iTunes is that once you buy the song its your and you can burn to CD and make transfers if you want. I am all for legally buying audio, since their audio is very high quality. The way DRM is its like your renting audio cds and you can only play in one car, and you cant play it at home. That is just rediculous who rents CDs?!?

This is just an issue that has been getting under my skin, and I hope that the Zune fails miserably because of this issue. I honestly think that the Zune is a cool looking player, but not the way it works. Makes me hate it, and Microsoft even more.

You could see that the product is already having problems from Engadget.

Looking Forward to...

Windows Vista?

Playstation 3?

Blu-Ray DVD?

HD-DVD?

Mac OS X v10.5 “Leopard”?

When I with people and these discussions come up its literally non-stop about when and where. In the next couple of months lots of new products coming out. People have heated discussions about being first adapters or waiting for the kinks to get worked out, I have learned from my mistakes and I will wait for a little bit for the companies to work out the kinks, but Im not sure when I will adapt Windows Vista. It has a lot of strange rules! And Im going to have a first time apple experience then Im going to wait for Leopard! Im not too enthusiatic about Blu-Ray or HD DVD. Im happy with what I have. I have seen some HD DVD and I have to say that its amazing on the right screen. But still Im going to wait on it a bit. PS3 is a whole other matter on its own. People are going nuts, even though they had delays because of problems. Companies are always trying to push to market first, but I dont think the customers benefit in the long run. Im just going to sit back and watch the pandemonium begin!

Logitech Alto Notebook Stand...

logitech-alto-notebook-stand.jpg

This is one cool docking station. Its a keyboard with USB peripherals built into one. And it holds it up just to the right height so you could look at the screen at eye level. When its from Logitech I usually believe in their quality! And for $99 it isnt too bad.

Anti-Virus Softwares...

I usually install an anti-virus software on my PC because its really something you have to do. There are a lot of choices in the market right now, and for Antivirus I usually buy original software because of the signature updates, database updates, and scanner updates.

antvirus.gif
There are a few things that I take into consideration when choosing antivirus software:

  • How Affective it is.
  • What affect it has on my system. (If it slows is down)
  • How often are the updates.
  • How affective it is.

Right now this is my list in the ranking:

  1. Kaspersky and NOD32
    • Both are light on the system, you dont feel as if they are there. And they perform their duties perfectly. For the price you have to pay, its cheap for piece of mind.
  2. AVG Antivirus
    • Its not the best, but it does a pretty good job and its free.

For Norton Antivirus, and McAfee Antivirus I would avoid them totally because they have caused every machine I installed them on to have problems. They make the machine slower, and startup hangs because they are forcing a scan. It makes it impossible for some programs to operate, and please forget about the internet security. I completely avoid installing any of these two on any PCs that I get my hands on.

Mistake Learned...

shuttle.jpg

Well, after a few incidnets I had with my media hard drive on my main PC crashing I have been backing up stuff that I havent watched, and backing up often. It doesnt take long to make a copy so I just start the task and let it copy.

The other day I tried starting up my Media PC to watch some episodes on the TV then I kept seeing that the Hard Drive wasnt booting into Windows, no matter how much I messed aroud with the BIOS settings. It seemed that the Hard Drive had some bad sectors. I wasnt worried because I had backed up everything on it, and I took the Shuttle PC to Professional computer to get it fixed, and it turned out the Hard Drive was bad, but I wasnt worried since it was still under warranty. But backing it up was the best decision I made. Just waiting on the new HD to come in so that I can get my Media PC back and hook up the DVI to HDMI.
