So after operating the PC for over months on end only restarting it and everything else in my room, it has gotten a bit hot and my PC is acting a little weird so I decided to shutdown my PC and everything else that I don’t need to have on including my Network Area Storage, and a few other things. I only kept my router on so I could surf on my laptop which is off and on at a regular basis.
Shutting my PC off with the other pieces of electronics has led my room to be a lot cooler then usual which is nice, but I honestly feel like something is missing since I got used to the hum of the PC and other items when running.
What I have connected to the four power strips:
When I look at my power strips I wonder what the hell I have connected to it, and when going through it I realize its a huge amount of things connected to it and I only have 2 open points. Three strips have only 4 and one has 5 for a total of 17 and I’m using 15 of them. I’m surprised the power hasn’t shorted out from the use, every modern house should have some sort of server room at this point with networking points in the apartment or house.
Yesterdays’ weather wasn’t the best and I went around riding in the morning but I had a few things I wanted to do while sitting at home which was to go through my video files and organize them. I have so many series downloaded but they are in messed up locations and I dont even know whats being taken from me through Azuerus because the list is so damn long.
So I organized the following shows into each folders and I removed the tracker and files from the Torrent folder to get things organized:
This helped to get things organized and I really liked that now I knew which episodes I had and which I didn’t so I would download more at a later point. I noticed that I have a surplus of shows so that I can download them later.
Today my host’s power went out and a few things went out with it. I was a bit surprised that I couldn’t access my site, but I tried access my dreamhost control panel and I couldn’t and always the last resort is checking Dream Host Status. This is a great thing about Dreamhost they keep you posted and even if it goes down they tell you what is going on so it is great, you are informed of what is going on and there are updates so you don’t feel totally lost.
Then later in the day my Firefox browser crashed because I 4 windows open with 78 tabs between them and I haven’t shutdown my PC for weeks so its acting a little “weird” which I find entertaining. It does a few weird things and I like finding these out. I restared Firefox and got it going again, thank you session saver, and I will restart my PC later in the week, I still feel it can keep on going.
It now seems that they will be releasing a 15.4 inch version of the MacBook. Where there is smoke there is fire! I bet there will be a lot of people who will want this machine, and there will be lines like usual for the new Apple product. I’m just curious to check out Leopard and see what improvements they have made on Tiger. The supposed “target date” for this new MacBook is May of 2007 which is around the corner.

It is an extremely solid looking keyboard with a lot of features, it charges while sitting on the stand and from all the reviews I have read the battery life isn’t an issue. It has a touch disc scrolling which makes scrolling very easy as well as integrated features which Logitech is very good at. It seems to be functioning greatly for people who have a lot of requirements. The main issue I had with some wireless keyboards is the crappy distance but with Bluetooth it can easily reach up to 10 meters so that is another good point. It has a good incline so you can type without a wrist rest and the buttons seem to have the perfect resistance when you press it. Its a little bit on the pricy side, but it seems everyone is very satisified with this keyboard. Especially at the end of the day when you are done with the keyboard you put it in its base and it looks nice as well as charging.
Price: $170
Nifty features and nice look and feel to it, but it does bog down even the high systems because like any new windows system it requires a lot of resources to show how nice things can be. People are slowly discovering holes here and there, but that was to expected for something of this size. I think that Vista is a good thing, but it needs to be tweaked and adjusted.
I don’t recommend to upgrading to Vista yet because a lot of hardware and software have yet to work properly with the system. It isn’t as seemless as you have been used to with Windows XP. A lot of drivers for Hardware isn’t available yet and they are working on it, but its still annoying that a piece of hardware can’t work with the specific system. The Ready Boost features for Vista does make a difference for application launch with computers that have 512MB to 1GB of Ram, but the affect is miniscul when a PC has 2GB Ram.
People seem to be confused about the different versions of Vista and what are the drawbacks of each and what would satisfy their needs. And there is a workaround for buying the Windows Vista Upgrade instead of the full version. Vista has a lot to juggle over the next couple of months but it will be a little clearer and more stable towards the summer and the first major patch will probably on offer in Q3 or Q4 of 07 since they got a head start on it.
I think I’m going to install it on my media pc to try it out since there isn’t anything on it that I really need, and I have a few things in mind to replace the media pc and its dedicated for streaming HD quality video and audio to my screen. I’m honestly looking forward to the install and all the problems that way I know what is going to happen, just like experimenting with XP back in the day.
I have been burning a lot of DVDs the past year, it has reached the point where I burn three to four DVDs a week to watch all the different shows I am keeping up with. I have been using the Nero 7.03 with its DVD burning software and as of recently I have been using VSO ConvertXDVD.
Usually you can put a maximum of two 45 min episodes on a DVD, if you put more then two then the software will reduce the quality of the DVD so usually you wouldn’t want to do that.

VSO ConvertXDVD:
Now this is one interesting laptop, with all the usual bells and whistles of any laptop, but instead of Vista this comes with Unbuntu and I think thats ingenious! Unbuntu is one of the most user friendly Linux Operating Systems out there right now. This laptop can be set at $995 all the way to $2000 depending on the configuration, 100GB, Core 2 Dou 2.33GHz, 1.5GB Ram, Wifi a/b/g, bluetooth, DVD writer, and few other nifty additions. With a 13.3 inch screen a clean white shell, looks a bit like an Apple but its still different. I can appreciate something like this for someone who can’t do the install themselves.

I have been using my PC nonstop for the past few weeks doing a lot of things which consume alot of resources and sometimes its a bit slow when loading things, but I can’t blame.
State of my Desktop:
So my PC does have its hands full so I’m really happy that its surviving all this work, and sometimes while all this is being done I stream anime from the main PC. It will reach a point soon where it will freeze or crash if I don’t give it some breathing room soon. I’m just going to keep going until I really need to restart.
Its only been a little while since Firefox was introduced and tabbed browsing was introduced with it, I kept seeing buzz words flying around about Firefox and that its going to end IE’s reign on browsing. There might have been other browsers which might have had tabbed browsing but none appealed to the masses such as Firefox has and one of its main advantages is its tabbed browsing. Even with the introduction of IE7 I still feel that its type of tabbed browsing feels slightly incomplete compared to Firefox.
I don’t even remember how I used to browse without tabbed browsing, because every time I browse I start with at least 6-9 tabs, and that is if Im starting fresh. On my desktop I have 3-4 windows open with at least 40 tabs scattered between them. I know what each one is open to even if I leave my pc for a few days and the best thing is that they have the restore capability if the PC crashes and every once in a while my PC does crash for overloading it with all the operations. I think tabbed browsing has made people more addicted to the internet because they read one thing and wait for a few others to load all in the same window and its easily to check on it. I can’t surf without tabbed browsing since tabs will pile up on the bottom, so Firefox has been one of my standard installs on any new computer even if it has IE7. Long live tabs!
