Green Lantarn @ ComicCon...

GLPoster

For those who don’t know, Comic Con is the biggest Comic Fan convention in the world taking place in San Diego, and many big movies are previewed their with panels from all the actors, producers, directors, and writers. And luckily over the last few years comics are taken more seriously thanks to Batman & Iron Man, but now the movie blockbuster of next summer is Green Lantern. First thing first, I’m a huge Green Lantern fan, him being my favorite comic book character, a ring the has unlimited power, and its only limits is your will power and imagination. New of the movie got me excited but I wasn’t sure of Ryan Reynolds, since I’m used to him being a comedian, the funny guy, the guy that made us one of the best comedies period, Van Wilder, and I also loved him in Smokin Aces, but as the Green Lantern I wasn’t sure. Its a story you have known all your life, and now that it’s coming to the big screen, I just hope that no one screws the movie up, but after that Comic Con panel video below, I have to say that I think Ryan Reynolds will rock as Hal Jordan the Green Lantern, especially at the 1:32 mark.

Superman/Batman: APOCALYPSE – AWES...

“WE ARE ALL HERE BECAUSE EACH OF US, IN OUR ON WAY, FIGHTS FOR THE HOPE OF A BETTER TOMORROW”

I can’t get enough of those original comic movies, its great that the movies are doing well that Marvel and DC Comics are going and ahead and producing these high quality original movies for all the comic fans. And this storyline is fantastic, with Darkseid and Kara/Supergirl coming into the picture, Batman & Superman are faced with the biggest threat they have seen. What I like is that they are going into the depth of the Superman/Batman storyline and pulling out the guys and glory to deliver to the fans. The trailer has me excited and I’m really looking forward to it.

Synopsis:

After a spaceship splashes down in Gotham City Harbor, Batman and Superman encounter a mysterious Kryptonian with powers as great as those of the Man of Steel. The Kryptonian is soon revealed to be Kara, cousin of Superman, who takes her under his wing to educate her about the ways of Earth. However, the villainous Darkseid has other plans. Seeing an opportunity to finally defeat Superman, Darkseid abducts and gains control of Kara, utilizing the powerful Kryptonian to do his bidding. It’s up to Batman and Superman to save Kara, but they’ll have to take the fight to Darkseid within his hostile world – where unknown, deadly threats lurk around every corner, including a brainwashed Kryptonian able to match Superman blow-for-blow.

Omega Supreme – Transformers...

To me Omega Supreme represents the strong arm of the Autobots, the power house to push back even the mighty Devastator of the Decepticons. He is involved in several storylines, and I have found him in Transformers Comics on my iPad but haven’t read the whole thing. I have always thought that he is one of the coolest Autobots, up there with Optimus Prime, Rodimus Prime, and Ultramagnus. Now uuser from TFW5000 forum was so impresssed by Omega Supreme in the comics and Transformers: War on Cybertron Game that he took to make a detailed model unlike ever seen before. What I love about these guys is that they make the most interesting custom Transformers and some more life like then you expect, but this Omega Supreme is amazing, and can be purchased on Ebay for $3000.

DC Comics for iPAD!!!! At Last...

I have been hoping for this App for a long time, Comics have made my iPad indespensible. I love the Marvel App, I’m just annoyed at how slow they are releasing the comics which I am following, I go nuts not being able to read more. Now with DC I will have a large variety of comics to read, but the problem is that I have a lot of comics sitting on my shelf. Its great that they built the application on the Comixology platform which is smooth and high-resolution, with the perfect animated transitions between the scenes, the same as what Marvel did. So I will be buying comics that I don’t have, currently I have a lot of Green Lantern Comics which I ordered a long time ago, so I’m ordering a lot of Batman/Superman comics that I haven’t seen before, a new storyline to enjoy.

Now to look forward to:

  • Superman/Batman
  • Wonder Woman
  • The Flash
  • Green Lantern
  • Justice League: Generation Lost

The Return Of Bruce Wayne!...

Bruce Wayne as Batman kicks ass, he is really superhuman in that suit but now DC has taken a different angle. I’m not really following the whole comic line of Batman at the moment as it has gotten pretty confusing at times to follow them. Now DC has taken a new timeline for Bruce Wayne or to be exact, a Bruce Wayne in every time line, various Batmen of the line: Prehistoric Batman, Witch-hunter Batman, Wild West Batman and the dreaded High Seas Batman. In my opinion the Pirate is the coolest of the bunch, with the cowboy following right after.

Voltron Movie & TV Show...

Voltron

Its revival of the 80s cartoons, I just can’t believe how good this is going to be. First the Thundercats come back on Cartoon Network, and now they are bringing back Voltron, well a different bunch of people are. Now they are working on a new animated feature, and the movie is being worked on as well, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done for the movie, they want to get the right story, a character driven story, and the effects and lion robot eye candy will come together around it. It seems the people working on it will learn from the mistakes of Transformers and G.I.Joe, and Voltron is going to end up being one of the best 80’s cartoon adaptations that we’ve seen so far. Its slated to be released for the 2013 target with the TV show being a build up for it.

The new show will be called Voltron Force, and it will air 26 half-hour episodes next year on Nicktoons. I’m just hoping that both adults and kids can watch it, I don’t want it being too kiddy because its airing on Nicktoons and destroying all of my past love for Voltron, my original love of anime before I even knew that anime was. The series follows five space explorers who pilot robotic lions that combine to form Voltron, an invincible guardian sworn to defend the Universe. The series will remain faithful to the old show, while introducing new recruits to fight alongside the original characters.

Thundercats – The New Animated Ser...

Thundercats

The new ThunderCats will appeal to viewers who have loved the characters all their lives as well as young newcomers to the franchise. A sweeping tale combining swords and science and boasting ferocious battles with the highest of stakes, the grand origin story of Prince Lion-O’s ascension to the throne – and of those who would thwart his destiny at any cost – takes on epic dimensions in this sharp new telling. As the forces of good and evil battle each other in the quest for the fabled Stones of Power, Lion-O and his champions learn valuable lessons of loyalty, honor and mortality in every episode.

This is the best news I have heard yet for any story reboot, NEW THUNDERCATS!!!! After watching the show a few times recently its still pretty good and story isn’t too shabby but now they have young and old fans to impress. This came from WB Animation and going to debut on Cartoon Network, I love a lot of the animated shows that have come on to Cartoon Network, one of them being Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. Now a new Panthera and a deeper story to planned out, I just hope they do it justice, I can’t wait to see it.

Wolverine’s ABC...

Now this is a way to get your kids hooked on Wolverine and Marvel comics at an early age, you have the tools to teach them their ABCs.Sean Gordon Murphy, a comic book artist, took it upon himself to recreate the alphabet based on Wolverine and the whole Marvel Universe. Its not what I usually like from comic book art but some of them are pretty good. My Favorites are E, F, K, V, and Z from the list.

Street Fighter Minimalist Drawings...

Some cool minimalist drawings of Street Fighter characters, starting off with Ryu as usual then going through the rest. I have seen better drawings of other concepts from the TV and Movie Minimalist posters but these are pretty cool too. I like that this is from just one line of video games, but with all the different characters of Street Fighter I was expecting more.

Marvel iPad App...

Marvel has turned out to be one of my favorite applications on the iPad, I have always had a love for comics but as I grew up I lost track of all the different Universes, plots and lists of new comics that kept coming up. With the emergence of the iPad they have provided the perfect platform for Comics, I find myself reading for hours and hours these days and I’m enjoying every moment of it, I feel like the Geek in me couldn’t be happier. I read the comics and keep going to the next issue of the series, everything is very organized and you can keep buying the next one. I passed by the Kinokonaya Book Store in Dubai and saw a few Marvel Comics and I really wish they would be released soon on the iPad, and I kept flipping through a few of the comics that were on the table. The best part is that you can go through the categories and view each series on its own making it easier to select the comics you want, and of course the sample is perfect so you get a slight feel of the comic before purchasing.

My Favorite Comics:

  • Hulk
  • Mighty Avengers
  • New Avengers
  • New X-Men
  • World War Hulk
  • X-23: Target X
  • X-Men: Age of Apocalypse

What Its Lacking:

  • More Comics, I seriously want all the comics that Marvel has to offer
  • I want the comics in higher resolution so when it goes screen to screen its crystal clear
  • The Comics are a bit over priced and add up very quickly, I think they should be charged between 50c to 99c, not the $2.00 for each comic, people would buy more at higher volume
  • A way to manage your comics off the iPad so when your done with it you can get rid of it instead of just deleting it. I just bought it, why would I delete it even if I need the space, feels like I’m throwing the comic in the trash, I would rather store it some where like I used to

Even with all these points I think that its a fantastic Application and a huge stepping stone to bring comics back to what it was. The iPad has revolutionized the way people interact with online activity and reading comics is being brought back in a way that takes advantage of all the features of the iPad making it easier and more fun to read.
