Dent Xpress Experience...

About a month ago now there was hail storm in Kuwait during those five days of rain. I came back from my trip and noticed that my car had a few bumps, at first I thought it was a cat that jumped on the trunk, only to notice that it was all over the car. I mean a lot of dings on the hood, roof, doors, trunk, and side panels. I lost count but they were at least 60 bumps all over the car, I’m sure it got up to 80 but it was useless to count at that point.

At first I took it to the dealership to see what work needed done and how long it would take. I was told it would need about 5 days and certain body panels would need to be painted after the work was done, and it would cost anywhere between 800 to 1200 KWD. I couldn’t blame them on the quote the whole car was banged up and needed to be worked on. My friend told me to take the car to Dent Xpress, they do wonders and my cousin just dropped his car there it was banged up from the hail storm as well.

So I drove over to Nasser Center right next to Suncity in Shuweikh, they said they needed to see the car first. When I took the car they saw it right away and told me to bring the car in on Saturday 8 am, and it would cost 400 KWD. It was Wednesday and they were working on a black Porsche Turbo taking out the dings and it turned out to be my cousin’s car. They said they would need two full days to finish the car which is fine by me.

I took the car Saturday @ 8am to get worked on, they took the car right in and did their inspection, the car was riddled with dents. I left them to start working, and I was expecting a call towards the end of the day on Sunday or Monday morning. I got a call from the guys at Dent Xpress on Sunday at 10:30 am telling me my car was done, that was insanely fast. Faster then I expected really and they said I can pick it up any time today which is great. I went to pick up my car right after work and they had it in another back, excellent service and these guys know what they are doing. It was a lot cheaper then taking it to the dealership and a lot faster.

After all was done I had my car detailed at Al Falah and it looked brand new, without a bump it and looking all shiny. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs work done for their cars, they professional, effecient and clean. You fix your car without having to repaint it which would lower its value. Overall I think they did a fantastic should with the car and I would go back to them instantly if I need any work done.

Toyota FT-86II...

The Toyota AE86 is known to many people as one of the most aggressive sports car back in the day, it would be modified in all forms to race and drift around the moutains in Japan. I think this is one of the cars that help originate drifting back in the 80s. Now Toyota came up with the FT-86 Concept and a lot of people got excited, a decently priced toyota sports car which looks highly modifiable (If thats even a word). When the pictures first came out I thought they were bringing back the Toyota Supra but then they mentioned the name and their target market. Toyota has been working on their aggressive rear-wheel-drive sports concept for several years now, but these studio pics look like the real deal. Its supposed to go intro production in 2012 but with the situation in Japan I’m not sure if everything is on track. I really like the final pics of this car.

BMW M’s Secret Underground Garage...

The guys over at BimmerPost got invited to Germany for the unveiling of the new BMW M5 which I find to be a beautiful and aggressive looking machine, but that isn’t the best part of the trip, they also got invited to see the BMW’s M Garage. A secret garage that they keep all the BMW M cars ever built in pristine and bueatiful condition. I have always been BMW fan, and they have everything in this garage worth having from BMW. My favorite and at the top of the list is the BMW 850csi, and I also love the M1 & E36 M3, the E36 being one of the best BMWs I have driven. When I saw the Z3M in the youtube video it reminded me of the old James Bond movie with Peirce Brosnan, and I love how they used them and felt bad for the Z8 in their later Bond movie. Check out the link below for a lot more pics and very nice video of all the cars.

Moscow Drift...

Drifting is skill which is mastered through practice and time, and I am always in awe of some the things these drivers can do with cars. Now this video showing the driving skills in Russia got my blood pumping, it feels more like a movie then it does a youtube video. Immense amount of skill is needed for two people to maneuver and drift around town and each other like they did in the video. I amazed they managed to pull this off in Russia, to lock the streets down and do it, I keep thinking of Moscow as that city that you don’t want to mess with the police. I was thinking that would could try doing this around here but I’m assuming that there wouldn’t be too much cooperation on the getting the streets shutdown for drifting.

The Accident...

A little over a month ago I was driving on the inside of Mishref going to the NBK by the co-op. Its an internal road leading to it, two lane going and two lane coming. As I was driving down on a Saturday morning at around 8:15 am, I just needed to get some cash to pay for a few things and they have a drive through ATM. I was going about 30 kph, not in a hurry to get anywhere since I had only a few things to finish in the morning.

I could see the coop on the left side of the road about 300 meters down, and about 30 meters ahead there is a U-turn coming around. There was a Nissan Patrol on the other side of the road as I was driving, at that point I’m about 10 meters form oncoming u-turn when the car turns into the u-turn, and I thought that the person would stop, but I was completely wrong, the car continued and at this point I was traveling at 30 kph with about 7 meters from the U-turn and I slammed the brakes and made a hard right to avoid the car. I thought I could cut into the second lane but this lady went right through and I hit her car’s front end, I went on the garden of the first house went through the bushes to end up in the drive way of the second house. I was fine, the airbag didn’t come out, I was angry, very angry, I tried opening my door but because my left fender was pushed back I had to kick out my left door to get out.

I took a look at my car and I was devastated, my car was very damaged, but hamdilla I was fine. I called 777 then remembered it was 112 and reported the accident, they said go to a police station, I told them my car is not moveable and we need a police officer urgently. I was very very angry and tried calming myself, what kind of idiot would make a u-turn without stopping with a clear view of an oncoming car within a 7 meters of the u-turn and not even trying avoid me when she looked. The front left side of my Landcruiser was damaged and I hit her right fender and tire. The funner part is that my front bumper was coming off but the paint wasn’t damaged because of the Huperoptik protection on it.

(This is a very long story)

PanameraTaxi

Only in Germany could they do this to a luxury four door machine, what a horrible thing to do to the car and a disgusting color.

New Owner Of An LFA...

Javiar Quiros does what every new owner of an LFA does, now he is an excited man and I really can’t blame him. He got # 14 and I think doughnuts are the best way to celebrate. Don’t know how many people in Costa Rica will be driving this car, but I don’t know when I will be seeing one but its a beautiful machine.

Michelin – GulfRun 6 Prep...

GulfRun 6 is coming up in a few weeks and I decided to change my tire to the new Michelin PS2 tires since my tires were all eaten up. It was a total 485 KD for all for sport tires, mounted, balanced and installed. Which is about 130 KD per tire, which is about the price of sports tires.

I ran into a problem, my rims are G-Power Silverstone Rims which a special valve to inflate and deflate the tires. That special valve was lost by the dealership so I couldn’t do anything with my tires, so I asked them to hold the tires for me. I called the dealer in Abu Dhabi and called Germany they said it would take about 3-5 days to get it, and time wasn’t a luxury I had. I asked to have them shipped FedEx or DHL next day but they were slow to react, I got a little worried.

Next morning Michelin guys called me and told me the tire guys fabricated some valves to they can inflate and deflate my tires, I was very happily surprised. I drove right over as soon as my meeting was done and had my tires changed and tipped the guys who did the work. They made two valve adapters one to inflate and the other deflate the tires. They did an amazing job and these guys remember me year after year so I make sure to tip them, and they finished all the work on my car in 20 mins which is fantastic. The best tire service in Kuwait is always at Michelin, they even have BFGoodrich which is my favorite truck tire brand.

Reiter Lamborghini LP600+...

There is something very menacing about this machine and I like it, the lines of the LP560 look very nice with a setup such as this. The LP560 is an already capable vehicle but the Reiter version is stripped down to the core producing more then 600 horsepower and completely track ready. And Reiter have won a lot of races in their time with Lamborghinis so they know how to setup this car, roll cage, racing seat, and the right components to keep you glued to the seat and flying on the track.

NegativEffect On SpeedHunters...

Our friend Abdulla at NegativEffect has just been featured in an amazing online site, SpeedHunters. Recenlty at the Bahrain International Circuit the guys went for a track guy and came across something they weren’t expecting. They saw the Toyota Ex-F1 Team testing Formula 1 Tires for Pirelli which was an amazing experience since they were telling them what they do, and explaining them the details of the car. Toyota pulled out of F1 but they are using their F1 team for consultancy services, and this one was contracted out to Pirelli. Abdulla took amazing pictures that you can find on his blog and turns out that he wasn’t the only one that thought his photographs were amazing, SpeedHunters posted about it as well and you can see the link below. I keep nagging him for more photographs because he does an amazing job.
