GulfRun – Tech Check...

Its only about 10 days until the GulfRun event and things are picking up. I haven’t spent this much time in garages in a long time, but its a lot of fun getting things to fit right. Everyone had a list of things that needed to get done, new brakes, new race tires, alignment, new fluids for the engine, transmission, and brakes, and a long list.

My car has been in the garage for almost two weeks now and hopefully it will be done soon. Just waiting for one main ingredient to complete it. So I was helping the guys with all their tasks and so I was driving the support vehicle around filled with lots of parts from brakes and fluids, rotors, to racing tires and special rims. I haven’t driven a Chevy pick up truck in a long time and this was very funny, the car kept making weird noise but it does well to drive in a straight line.

2008 Chevrolet Camaro LS7 Concept...

Since Transformers I have always had a liking for this machine, it has this retro look to it. I just hope that it handles just as good as the Corvette which Chevrolet did an excellent job with it.

But this concept is an amazing machine which I would want to get my hands on. Built with an LS7 Engine with 550bhp and 500lbs of torque. It probably sounds like a monster, and I really like the color scheme.

GulfRun – Getting Closer...

Now things are getting interesting, about two weeks left for GulfRun and the events will be starting. My car has been in the shop for the past week, and it needs another ten days before I get it back. They replaced the clutch and flywheel so the car was working perfectly. Then came the long list of items which are to be installed on the vehicle to “upgrade” the performance slightly. My plan was to destroy my previous adversaries on the track with the time attack, but I just saw the list of vehicles that will be coming to GulfRun and my hopes were slightly damaged. There are some very track intensive vehicles and I no longer have the power advantage as before.

Just take a look at the list of vehicles that will be participating in GulfRun 4 and some of them are very modified.

Knight XV...

Now this is an interesting machine, you would think with the economy and gas prices as it is that they would make a higher end hybrid, but not for Conquest Vehicles. They have made a monster of an SUV, dutefully named KNIGHT XV, and their catch phrase is “Are you ready to be Knighted?”

At $295’000 only 100 of these are made a year, with a V10 heart pumping 400 bhp and 500 torque. And all I want to do is drive this monster into a wall and see what KITT has to say.

Features:

  • Wilton Wool carpeting
  • Andrew Muirhead leather
  • 6-way seating
  • Tandem sunroof glass with privacy shades S
  • ide-mounted laptop stations
  • LED cabin lighting
  • Alpine DVD navigation and Bluetooth setup, TVs
  • Night vision and rear op camera system
  • PlayStation 3

Gear Issues...

I was driving out of my house on Friday early morning going to pass by some the family. As I was getting to the light there was a small jolt while it was down shifting, didn’t think much of it. When the light turned green I stepped on the gas, but the car didn’t shift into gear. I was slightly in perplexed and wasn’t sure what was going on, I switched the car on and off. It drove but as if the gear was barely catching so I went back home and parked the car. It was a Friday and the dealership was closed, so I had to wait until Saturday to take the car in. I called the flatbed to come pick up the car and it arrived around 7:30 am and I went with it to the dealership.

I had one worry during this time, I’m sure the gear wasn’t damaged since it was shifting into all the gears. It could have been the hydraulic pump or the clutch or something else. My main worry was that GulfRun is in about three weeks and there is no way I can miss it, I have been looking forward to it for months now. I spoke to the service man and then I pass by again around 1:00 pm, and called back around 2:30 pm. The final diagnosis and they verified it after they took the transmission down is that my clutch was at the end of its life.  The workshop manager asked me how was I driving the car, I told him “lightly” and started laughing. Luckily there was one part in stock and they will fix it right away, the whole process takes about 3 days due to the complexity of the location. Hopefully that is the only thing that is broken, and I can have the car back on the road soon.

2008 Lamborghini Estoque Concept...

I don’t care what anyone says, this is one beautiful machine. You can see all the characteristics of a Lamborghini sports car in its DNA. I wonder what kind of engine they would place in it and what price tag it would carry. The sharp edges, sporty interior and persistent Italian styling are apparent, now to see when they put it into production.

Lexus IS-F vs. Nissan GT-R...

“The IS-F is as sporty as Lexus can make it without sacrificing one iota of luxury; the GT-R is as luxurious as Nissan can engineer it without sacrificing even a bit of performance. The IS-F is a slightly softer competitor to BMW’s M3; the GT-R is a stiffer, more committed alternative to Porsche’s 911 Turbo.”

Never really would think of making a comparison between this two cars, but the quote says it all. I’m looking forward to Toyotas release of the new Supra.

Corvette ZR1 on Autobahn – Just Am...

The new 2009 Corvette ZR1 is slowly trickling out and there is a test video of this machine on the German roads. At 647 bhp and open roads he managed to hit 320 km/h in the video as if it isn’t any issue at all, what a beast of a machine, check out the video below and you can watch it in hi def in youtube.

Chrome Hamann Lamborghini LP640 For Sale...

Asking price for this machine is $625’000, I think that it is just one painful vehicle to look at. No matter what you do the sun is going to be in your eye and its going to be hot as hell to touch. It is an interesting vehicle to look at for sure, but I feel really sorry for whoever has to clean that car.

2008 Kicherer Audi RS-Street...

The Audi RS6 has made a huge splash in the consumer market for a 580 bhp engine in such a civilized looking car. Now Kicherer has taken this vehicle and gave it a little adrenaline shot to bring it to 700 bhp, sportier suspension and more aggressive looks. I like the look of the car but the rims aren’t to my liking, it should be something a little sportier looking. Overall they have taken an amazing vehicle and turned it into a monster on the road.
