This is one of the premiere car events around the world and it was taking place in Marina Cresent over this weekend. I saw the classic cars during the launch on Wednesday but I didn’t have a camera with me at the time, so I decided to take pictures of the machines on the other side. The variety of the machines was fantastic but I didn’t expect to see so many modern cars with them, but I was enjoying it, and across the parking lot were the beautiful muscle cars.
There was a beautiful original BMW M1 parked next to the fountain, now that was a car I wasn’t expecting to see and a few other beautiful machines. What surprised me was the presence of the Alpha Romeo RC8, which is basically all Ferrari with an Alpha Romeo body, I think it even had temporary plates on it. Marina Cresent was packed you couldn’t find a place to sit but we headed to PQ grab a bite to eat and enjoy the cars.
The machines I worry about the most are those Mitusbishi Evolutions, they are machines to be feared. The way they look has no indication of what can be under the body, some can be monsters at 600+ bhp and others can handle like go carts. Then there is that Nissan GTR which looks really good in red, I’m curious what the Mercedes SLR is going to be doing on the track against all these machines, then there is the other 20 cars which weren’t at the car show since they were getting worked on.
The booths were filled with some sponsors, the most active being Wataniya Airways with their airline staff handing out the Diwaniya Membership program, then Wataniya Telecom, Huperoptic had an interesting stand with all the types of tint, then there was Dent Xpress who were catering to all their customers. I was at the GulfRun booth taking some t-shirts for keeps for later, and I go my hands on the hoodie that I wanted. I talked to so many people over those two days I lost my voice the next day. I can’t wait until 360 Mall opens all it’s shops, it is taking some time, I’m assuming that they will all be open by this summer at least. Thanks to (Bassem @ Wataniya Telecom for the photo)
Time has flown by and we are almost at GulfRun, I had my car done with some very impressive cars in the mix. Some very scary cars in the mix as well, I’m asking some of the GulfRunners which is the most insane cars and there is this Evolution MR which is looking very mean and not including a few surpises at the track in Bahrain. The sticker sizes are based on a predetermined pattern from types of sponsors and the size of it, and real estate available on the vehicle. Wataniya Telecom being the largest as the Title Sponspor, followed by Agility, Consolidated Contractors Company, Dent Xpress, and Wataniya Airways as Platinum Sponsors, then Al Sawan Travel, Credit One, and Slider Station as Gold Sponsors on all the vehicles, lots and lots of stickers all over the cars, and some of them look really good.
Now some of these machines are going to be on display at 360 Mall on the 15th & 16th of January, this weekend by the ramp and main reception area. Then there is the raffle tickets for the GulfRun Vespas, I really want the black one because it looks really good and all proceeds go to Hayat Cancer Foundation. I’ve heard of a few of the sponsors who will be at the Car Show in 360 handing out special items to people at the show, I’m honestly curious. I know one hting is that I will be trying out a lot of restaurants at 360 this weekend thats for sure, maybe throw a movie into the mix.
I’m a huge fan of the SLS, and this ad does even more to make it hotter, I don’t know if its possible, but if anyone can do it the Germans can.
Detailing is a real artform and very few have perfected it in Kuwait, and these few places that I have listed below have done a good job of coming close.
I am one person that likes to drive and ride all forms of machines, I also take care of those machines. One aspect that people forget about is taking car of the vehicle’s exterior & interior, not just the mechanical parts.
We have bad washing practices in Kuwait, not including bad weather, dust and all possible forms of damage to a cars exterior. You lose the color, the vibrance of teh car, your interior might even change shades of color and you might not notice.
Detailing Steps:
All these steps will bring back the color and shine of your car, getting rid of those annoying scratches on the car, getting rid of the circles from washing your car with crappy quality cloth. Getting the color of your leather back to its original look and feel. I recommend a full detailing at least once every 6 months, you will love the way your car looks and your car will thank you. I’m doing this to my Landcruiser after taking it for a major beating in the deserts of Saudi for five days.

We went for the car show weekend, didn’t know what exactly to expect their but I was really looking forward to it. We went to the convention center bought our tickets and walked in, starts off by the modified vehicles area, motorcycles, and ATVs. The variety of the machines was amazing, so many amazingly tuned cars, they looked really good, and some very very ugly machines as well, tasteless, the best part was seeing so much in real life. The SLS looks better in real life then I expected, the LFA is a beast, I wish they had the normal version rather then the racer version. I liked the organization of the whole expo, from car modifiers to car manufacturers, there was a simple pattern to it. I was surprised not to see Chrysler or Lamborghini or Honda there, and they had some new cars too so I was expecting everything, but they really must have a tough time not to show up. I know that I will be looking forward to visiting it again next year, click below for a ton of pictures.
Surprises:
Disapointments:
Be careful when you click this post, there are over 100 pictures to see, but so many nice cars :)
Noble is a maker of race bred machines, only to make one very scary 600+ bhp M600. This machine is so mechanically brutal it has no GPS, no Air Conditioning, No ABS, basically nothing that requires a computer to think. You have your gearbox, your engine, and tires to the ground. Even Jeremy Clarkson was genuinely petrified from this machine, and he should be there is no room for mistakes with this machine around the track for 200’000 British Pounds you can get a lot of amazing super cars, but none of them can beat them on the road.
This is the first video Adverstisment of the Lexus LFA, there is so much pride for this machine. Toyota really built this machine out of pride, only 500 will be made and at a loss. I am envious of those who will buy this machine, it will be priced at 180’000 KWD in Kuwait with a waiting list already at 10. It isn’t the most powerful machine available but one of the most technologically advanced machines on the face of the planet.
I am a fan of the Fiat 500 but these women must have froven their butts off in the cold.
9ff are not just a company that modifies Porsches, but a company that produces some very scary race cars and the 9ff GT9R is case in point. the GT9R is loosely based on the Porsche 911, almost every component of this machine is built from scratch. Producing 1120 horsepower and a claimed 414 km/h (257 mph) top speed, it knocks the SSC Ultimate Aero TT off its top perch and takes the crown for the fastest production car. Based on their announced numbers the GT9R it’ll hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds, 200 km/h (124 mph) in 7.4 and 300 (186 mph) in 14.9, I can’t wait for someone to test this machine out to give us the real numbers.
Only 20 pieces of this machine will be made a year, price hasn’t been announced but its not going to be any less then half a million to have one parked in your garage. There is the lesser version of it available if you would like one when the quota is met, but I think the GT9 is no vehicle to be mocked or it would bite your head off.

This is one of the funniest car rental ads I have seen, the best part are the costumes. Seems like a new luxury car rental agency has opened up in Los Angeles, as the dream goes if you have a nice cars then the girls will follow and these guys are living their dream. The best part of the whole thing are the bear suits, beating the crap out of each other with the suit on and then driving back with them is genius. Renting the Audi is ridiculously expensive in the states, I was surprised to see that it was more expensive then the California.
Got a call from Wehbi about the Car Show next to 360 Mall, and some interesting combination of cars in the show. I wasn’t aware of location, but he gave me spot on directions to the car show, so I thought I would head there directly after lunch. Took me 5 minutes down the 6th Ring Road and I got there, luckily there was a lot of parking and it was held in a very nice grassy area. I’m a bit disappointed with the venues in Kuwait, Mishref grounds used to be state of the art 20 years ago but now it feels like its just falling apart and there is no major improvement which does need to happen. I was just happy there was this type of car show taking place in Kuwait, they should take place more often.
There are cars inside and outside, I like the trucks and a few sports cars outside, I was curious what would be inside. There were a bunch of GTOs, some Corvettes, a few Aston Martins, and a lot of cars. The event seems very nicely organized, it takes 10 minutes to enjoy and walk around the whole thing, lots of nice cars, well taken care of and maintained. I saw a couple of cars that I liked but the one I liked the most was the SS & the Dodge Power Wagon outside, I really liked the trucks. Its great seeing people enjoying their cars and taking care of them, more should be done to promote events such as these.
