Wheel Clamp...

WheelClamp

This is just ridiculous, I got a clamp on my tire when I stepped out of the car for exactly 3 mins, I walked in to get measurements for a dishdasha and walked back and saw the cop running away. He was literally running away to his car, even when I called out to him he looked back and jumped in the Ford Excursion and took off. I was in the city by a street called Salhiya Street which is close to where the old Samsung store is now called Centro, there is also a Casio store there, just opposite the tall communications tower (Burj Al Tahreer). When I was looking for parking I circled the area twice looking for parking with nothing available, so instead of blocking traffic I decided to park on the sidewalk thinking that I wouldn’t be too long and I was out quick to see that scene.

I could understand the fine, and I will pay it as I was parked illegally but so was 30 cars behind me which turned the road into a one lane road instead of two and lanes and some parking. Now why do they have to inconvenience people to get the clamp off, and the correct process to get it done is very annoying. You have to wait for Ministery of Interior office to go pay the bill their which is only open in the morning, then you have to wait for the guy to unlock the clamp which can take anywhere between 2 hours to the next day which you will not know. I called a few people and got someone to help me out and told me to sit tight, I had the car on and I was listening to music and bbming people. I was honestly not in a bad mood but it was a waste of time. He called back and said a police car will be back in 10 mins, he even knew the details of my car from what they were told. Now I have been through the legal process of the clamp, and it isn’t a deterrent from parking illegally. In the states I made the the mistake of parking in a handicap spot when I first move there and cop came over and gave me a $360 ticket and I never parked in a handicap spot ever again, I even when to the judge to make the payment over installments which they were more then happy to do. In this case it was a 5KD fine and the police car came after 65 minutes while I had the car on and sitting inside having a conversation with a friend on the phone. And I continued on my way and thanked him for opening even though it was the guy who ran off earlier. I was fine but it looked like he was walking the walk of shame for some reason, maybe because he was called back to unlock it. I’m lucky who called a friend but what about people who can resolve this quickly, give a simple quicker process but for a higher fee and people will pay. I don’t blame the police but the law that does not make any sense instead of motivating people to go about it the right way and the other matter is the nonexistence of parking in the city but thats another issue.

McLaren MP4-12C – The Stats...

All the details of the MP4-12C were kept under wraps, we just knew it was a 600 bhp engine, no price or performance information. Now indications point that this machine will be priced between $200’000-$230’000. Now for the juicy details about its performance, no numbers have been released but main approximations are out and its scary. 0-60 mph in under three seconds with while using the launch control feature with the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. And 0 to 124 mph in under “10 seconds” which is insane, this machine is no joke.

Now for the comparison between this machine and other similar beasts, the 2010 Prosche 911 Turbo hits 60 in 3.2 seconds, Corvette ZR1 in 3.5 seconds, Lamborghini Gallardo LP-560-4 in 3.4 seconds, Nissan GT-R in 3.4 seconds and teh Ferrari 458 Italia in 3.3 seconds. Looks like there is a new fighter for the top contender and they are going for the title, what a mchine.

Woman and Driving...

I’m usually not the type of person to generalize but its hard not to feel there something very wrong when my car always gets hit by a woman, specifically muhajabah (Those who wear scarfs on their head), or they try to kill me while I’m on the motorcycle. I honestly don’t think any female has an intent to kill any person while on the road, and oddly enough its always a muhajabah who takes me out or hits me. This time it was the most annoying accident I have ever had, I’m happy it wasn’t a bad one but I was pissed as hell when my car was hit.

I’m in the left lane by the main Mishref Co-op and the right lane isn’t moving because a car is waiting for another car to exit. I’m moving about 5 kph per hour, snails pace and stopping when they stop when I hear I thump and painful metal screech. I moved and heard my car screech from the rear, I got out to find that a woman in a gold Jaguar four door hit my right rear passenger door. I pulled forward away from traffic and told her to stop behind me. I was pissed, very pissed, how in the hell could she hit me, I wasn’t moving and neither was her side. Her front left fender was bent and front left light was broken, while my door and rear right wheel well has a nasty dent. I spoke to her and she automatically said that I was moving too fast and she didn’t see me, I answered saying that I wasn’t moving and the car in front of me wasn’t moving and you hit me in the rear so if we go to the police station you would automatically at fault. She then said she is sorry because she was turning left when she was looking right so she won’t hit the car in front of her so instead she hit me, I tried to calm down because I saw she had a child in the car with her. I asked to speak to her husband and I will sort it out with him, I told her the damage is minimal on both cars please pay attention next time, then I spoke to her husband. I told him what happened and to check on his wife but everything is fine except for the damage, I asked him to come to the police station with me to state that I wasn’t at fault and I wouldn’t want anything from them except the police report as my insurance would cover it. I told her to go home and not to worry about anything, I calmed down but I was still really annoyed, its annoying that she wasn’t paying attention and tried to blame me right away but what calmed me down quickly is seeing the child with her and didn’t want to make the kid upset so I told her to go everything will be fine. Went to the police station three days later with the husband and sorted it out, we had to wait an hour for the accident investigator which is a short time from my experience, he was apologizing and asking to fix the car, I thanked him and said this is more then enough, I’m lucky that he was a good man because I know that being nice and letting the lady go I could have been screwed but I wouldn’t do it any other way. Still its very annoying, why don’t women pay attention, that is what freaks me out the most when driving people who don’t pay attention to the rode.

ABT Audi R8 GTR...

The Audi R8 is one of those cars which are nearly perfect, and Audi just keeps improving it, but it takes someone specialized to take the machine to the next level. ABT have squeezed the power it wants out of the V10 as well as skimming most of the fat from the car. They have engineered the car to be at optimal level to serve as a race car and a drivable day car, its no easy feat to take off 100 KG from already highly race ready machine but they have managed to do it perfectly.

With all the modifications comes a nice amount of power to compliment it, with the 5.2 FSI V10 modified to 620 bhp from its stock power. With the weight reduction and power increase this car becomes lightening fast with a 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 9.9 seconds, and a top speed of 325 km/h which is insane. ABT has limited production of this specimen to 25 vehicles, and I haven’t seen a price announced for it yet.

Mini Countryman...

Now this is an interesting car coming from Mini, I have always been a fan of the Mini Cooper but now they have come out with the buggy version which is a little bigger but still compact. The name should have been something else, I think they wanted to stick the Mini in there but they should have came up with something different, Mini Cup, Mini Corner, Mini Courage, maybe something else then Countryman. I love the manual Minis, it feels like these little machines are going to take off and the speed dial in the middle is fantastic.

Its available with two engine versions the normal and the S, 122 horsepower and 118 pound-feet of torque in the Cooper, or 184 hp and 177 lb-ft in the Cooper S. Then there is that all wheel drive option which I would opt out for it since its more fun as a two wheel drive machine, I always have this image of a mini drifting. This four seater even has a very cool and comfortable looking interior.

All New Nissan Patrol...

Just as the guys over at 4th Ring Road have already posted the new Nissan Patrol is out and a substantial difference of what the machine used to look like. The machine was fittingly unveiled in Emirates as being the state known for off roading and the love of SUVs, its befitting the rival of the Landcruiser to be release here first. Looks like they have made quite a different machine then what they once had, a more upscale look to the machine with a more luxurious interior. Benefitting from a 400 bhp engine a lot of comparisons will be made between the Landcruiser and the Patrol and I’m assuming it will be cheaper as well. Looks like they took to Toyotas formula to change from rugged looks to upscale SUV which is more capable then its predecessor. I’m a huge fan of Nissan and looking forward to seeing this machine on the road, looks like Nissan are going for the same badged nose as all their vehicle lines.

Power comes from a direct-injected 5.6-liter V8 that’s good for 400 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. That engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic and a new electronic four-wheel-drive system with four driver-selectable modes (pavement, sand, rock, and snow). The truck rides on a new four-wheel independent suspension, and incorporates features such as a hydraulic body roll mitigation system, hill start assist, and hill descent control.

Nissan GT-R vs. Scion tC Drift Cars...

Motor Trend wanted to take the Nissan GTR on a different kind of run. With that they introduced the Scion Drift team to test out the capabilities of the Nissan GTR against. I wish I had half the capability of one of those drivers, and that GTR looks like its stuck to the ground.

GulfRun 5 – The Car Wash...

At last the videos are coming up! I knew some videos were coming but I wasn’t sure what video was going to be released but I really like this cool video. It looks better then how wet and messy it got, they did a really good job of detailing those cars. I really liked how my M6 came out, too bad we can’t keep our cars like this all year long the police wouldn’t let us drive at all with those on. They were really shuffling through the cars, jumping from one to the other with all the different stickers and positions, some of those cars looked really good.

Back from GulfRun...

IMG_7326

I think that I’m out of breath from all that has happened in GulfRun, I got really busy with it last week. I didn’t even have a chance to check my emails over a week or anything online, and I was immersed with all that is GulfRun and I loved every moment of it. So much was going on during the day, going out at night and passing out exhausted and waking up early in the morning.

So many ridiculous machines and excellent drivers with lots of surprises, I think this is probably the best year I have seen with so many people. Lots of people came on Thursday but on Friday the whole area was packed full of people, kids, families, friends, and so many people just walking in. I loved going to Aadliyah at night to go get a bite to eat with all my friends, I have been driving around Bahrain enough that I have figured out most of it but the internals of Manama get me all messed up and if you get caught in traffic there is no way out, you are just going to have to wait it out.

We stayed at the Banyan Tree which was fantastic, just 5 minutes from the track and very relaxing and as usual our villa was over flowing. The villa limit was at four people but we went more then double that and we couldn’t stop laughing. The weather went really cold by Wednesday which is surprising but good for all those who had turbos. The amazing event was the drifting for me, seeing some of those drivers going nuts was fantastic, especially the ISF and the Z4M. The 995 Gemballa did an amazing job as well, so many surprises this year.

GulfRun 5 – Loading...

Meeting up and heading out isn’t a very simple process, with so many guys who are itching to take off in their cars. We met up at Tilal Complex in Shuweikh, it had the largest amount of parking spots which would be decently empty in the afternoon. We were expecting about 10 to 15 cars to show up when about 30+ cars show up, I knew it was going to be an interesting drive to Doha with this many cars in row. Luckily we had a few SUVs with us that were helping us block off the roads, some times there can be a bunch of maniacs on the road but that went smoothly enough.

The loading went very smoothly, four different trailers filled up completely with all the vehicles, top and bottom. You can check out the list of cars over at the GulfRun Blog, now that looks interesting, some very mean machines are coming to the track. People seem to be more prepared for the track this year then any other year.
