Review: Operation Typhoon Shore...

operationtyphoonshore1.jpg

I read the first book of this trilogy and I really enjoyed it so I was looking forward to the second book. Becca and Doug were already on the boat with their uncle trying to find the man who stole the Gyrolabs. The story continues in the Islands just off of Singapore, they are about to discover that things have changed with the Guild. Becca and Doug are still searching for their parents, and they are still on their Uncle’s boat but more and more things keep popping up. This book is very well written by Joshua Mowll and it is very realistic to the point I wonder if this really happened, it kept me pulled into the book so much so that I flew threw it looking for what was going to happen next. At this point I want the last book of the trilogy to finish off this great set, I hope its a good ending for all that they have gone through.

On The Books...

operationtyphoonshore.jpg

I haven’t had too much time to read over the past couple of months due to work and watching too many good TV and anime shows. Then there are those times when I don’t want to watch anything and I just want to read. One of those books that keep me entertained is Operation Typhoon Shore which is from the kids section, I pick up any book and if I like it I buy it, and this is the 2nd of the trilogy.

Then there are a few others that I am reading on the side.

  • Operation Typhoon Shore – Joshua Mowll
  • Brand Failures – Matt Haig
  • Samurai – Hightman
Dubai Quick Stop...

books-002.jpg

Since I didn’t have much time between my meetings I quickly went to a few places to see if I would get anything. My first stop was Borders where I spent a total of 7 minutes flipping through books and magazines, I usually spend at least 2 hours there just checking out books, magazines and taking pictures. This time was different since I was going their in between my meetings, I managed to pick up two books at least which seemed interesting. One book was about the Italian guys in Brooklyn in the 1970s starting a small business and then going into the cocaine trade which was really interesting, and the other book was about the days of Krypton before it was destroyed discussing Superman’s ancestors and home planet.

Review: Founders At Work – Jessica...

founders-at-work.jpg

I have been reading this book for a while, and it was one the best books I have read in a long time. If you are interested in the trials, tribulations, accomplishments of these people.

She interviews over 30 people from different 30 companies in the last two decades and a few before that. So many questions are answered, their motivation, the issues they faced, how they triumphed over their obstacles.

This book is very motivational, and you can read the different sections at different times. You get pulled into the emotions of some of these people, and what they did isn’t magic but a lot of luck played into it, timing is key to a lot of what they did. I loved this book, there was a lot to learn and gain from other people’s experiences and I know I shall be reading it again and again. Even with all the difficulties they went through it felt fantastic when they move forward with their lives, these are the types of people that you would want to work with.

Review: 24 – Behind The Scenes...

 24bts1.jpg

This is one those books that every 24 fan must have, it is filled with information and all the details of the different seasons. You get an intimate look into the process of 24 and what they do with all the different characters and how people don’t know exactly what is going to happen to them. The images throughout the book are amazing and give you an amazing look into the life of the people on 24.

24bts2.jpg

The photos are delightful, revealing, and a true treat to the fans of 24. You get action shots of the scenes to off-set cast and crew as they are when they are preparing and relaxing at different times. Jon Casser is the executive producer and most of the pictures have his comments on them, they are very heartfelt and enjoyable commentary throughout the book. The photographs are sectionalized into the different seasons, and then going into the different process of 24 to make it what it is, and the special guest appearances on the show and the set. If your a true 24 fan than you need to see this.

Review: Emily Gee – Thief With No ...

thiefwithnoshadow.jpg

When reading the story on the cover I thought this would be an interesting story to read. Its about a woman who is a wraith and wraith have the ability to be invisible, she is trying to avoid using these abilities to remain as human as possible. She has to do something with her wraith powers to save her brother so she affects the life of Bastian. They live in time which is somewhat tied to magic, yet it isn’t completely normal but they know of magical creatures and they try to avoid them. This movie jumps into the Fantasy genre then as the story proceed there are parts in it which becomes a bit slow, then it picks up speed as the action comes into play and book is hard to put down. The main issue I had was that it was very inconsistent, there were which were fast and some there were slow, the author tried going into the fantasy genre then the romance genre and it just feels that there is one main idea that she wanted. The ending was a bit expected so there was no surprise and nothing really to remember the book, the book is ok but I wouldn’t recommend anyone to read this there are a lot better books out there.

Book Gem...

I tend to read a lot of books and one of thing when I read in bed, on the couch, or while traveling is that my wrist hurts after a while. Even though I want to read it becomes very annoying after a while, so it took sometime but someone thought of the perfect product to make things easier for you. You can read in the most relaxed positions, and it is built from solid ABS plastic for different kinds of books and very easy to flip pages and you get used to how to flip pages.

Its worth getting but it seems that it is back ordered until the third or fourth month of January.

Price: $15

Books On Tap...

Over the past couple of months I haven’t had too much time to read but I still do, and then recently I have been reading a lot because I wanted to read other books and some genres I just can’t mix. If it is a business book then its simple to read with other books, but fiction and non-fiction books which require attention can’t be mixed. I added one book to my list called Bran Failures because its just really interesting how the author explains the brand failures of 100 companies in the past, and you can understand what you can and can’t do with a lot products and avoid previous made mistakes. That is just one of them, with Thief With No Shadow I’m getting more and more intrigued by whats going to happen next so I stay up a bit just reading more and more.

Currently Reading:

  • Thief With No Shadow – Emily Gee
  • Founders At Work – Jessica Livingston
  • Brand Failures – Matt Haig

Books I purchased:

  • Chasers – Lorenzo Carcaterra
  • Samurai – Hightman

So many books so little time.

Books I want to purchase, but I’m going to wait on them until I finish a few of the ones I have:

  • Iran Awakening
  • Long Way Down
  • The Starbucks Experience
  • Boeing vs. Airbus
  • James Bond the Authorized Biography
  • The Awakened Mage (Book 2)
