Ride Out...

After seeing that MV Agusta on the road I really felt like riding! I havent ridden in a while because of work and how crazy things were! So I needed to get on the bike! I had to go for a ride! Even if it was for 5 mins! I just needed to clear my head! It has been a long three weeks, things have been hectic everywhere! So then after sitting with the family for a bit I decided to get on the bike at 10:00pm. I got my gear on, and Im happy I broke in my boots just right. So then I started the bike, and had the burbble of mischievious intent! I smiling under my helmet. I got on my bike and headed for the seaside. I wanted to get a cool drink in this extremely humid weather so I got going.

I head over to the Palms starbucks and it was perfect, they just repaved the road, but I was worried about the humidity so I wasnt pulling any crazy turns. But the cars were flying past me to get stuck at the light! And I just slowly move to the front. I was really happy feeling the grumble from my bike, and I was happy and nothing could be better. Life was good at that moment! Then after 45 mins of riding I headed over home to get some rest before a hectic day at work!  Then I got home and parked the bike slowly taking my gear off and lying down. I wiped the helmet and the bike down since it was so humid, and everything felt right in the world just at that moment.

Sidi Scorpion Boots...

sidiscorpion2.jpg

Motorcycling boots come in either racing or touring looks. They eight have a lot of protection or very little. This is motorcycle boot that Sidi got right, I know that it doesnt have the full protection that other boots have, but has good protection for the feet, its comfortable. Very good for a city type motorcycle boot which looks good and is functional towards motorcycling. You can feel the gear shifter without any problems and you still have a lot of protection around your feet. And the air vents on the boots keep you from getting too warm. Im going to try to get me a pair of these at a later point. Right now Im happy with what I have, I need to post those up as well.

Marks Day...

Well as it has been mentioned in Mark‘s post he didnt have the best of days. He crashed today, but it wasnt that bad. He got a bit banged up but he was in one piece and the gear did its job to a good degree. I know Mark now wants more gear, and I cant blame him. Im also extremely impressed with Tristar they knew about the accident when I called. It seemed somebody told them, and we told them where the bike was parked and we let them take care of that. The bike had very light damage, a broken peg and the tank was scratched but over all its in good shape. I wanted to make sure Mark was ok, and Im happy that he could still move fine. We got him to the hospital after stopping at home and I could tell he was feeling the pain and he wasnt saying anything. I have in his shoes before so I know how he feels, and you want to get back on the bike. This only goes to make him a better rider, I wished that it didnt happen, but at least it happened in an open area and very few cars.

I will be waiting for you to get back on the bike, other then that I will be getting you a lot of biking videos! hehehe

Ride Out...

05102006094.jpg

So its a thursday and work was ending early. So I was thinking that I might go for a short ride. Then chatting with Mark he seemed to want to go out too, and I understood that it would be his first time out. So I thought it would be no better time then this time, we met up at 4pm and headed out from there.

We met up in Salmiya since I didnt want him getting on any highway or major road so that he can get there comfortably. So Mark came and parked while I was taking a quick picture.

05102006095.jpg

So then I thought there was no time better then now to get some miles under his belt, and to get him used to the traffic and riding between cars. I just gave him a couple of pointers and then we headed off to get on the Gulf Road. Got to the light taking easy and Im just watching Mark out of my rear view mirror. He seemed pretty comfortable riding, and we were going along fine, but there was a good amount of cars on the road. I noticed Mark holding towards the back so that he wouldnt be to close I was worried because he wanst keeping up with me in the beginning so I was slowing down, but we were stuck between traffic. As long as we were moving along I was happy just getting him comfortable riding between cars, and that is the most freaky feeling in the beginning you have no metal cage around you. There is nothing between you and the car next to you. So I can understand how he feels, and this was on the Gulf Road so its no joke, but good experience.

We started riding down the Gulf Road with quite a good amount of cars around us. We riding down from light to light. And from light to light we would talk for a  bit so that I could just give him some pointers but throughout the ride I saw Mark getting better and better. We had a couple of annoying cars who were getting to close and I would lean on them so that they wouldnt get too close. One I remember when riding, just ride faster then most cars to avoid them, and slow enough that your comfortable. We also passed by a couple of unsafe riders but we just passed them and kept on going. Then kept on going until we passed Souq Sharq, and we got close to the KNPC building and so we parked there to take a break, and take some pics. It was a nice ride, but we ran into an annoying porsche that wouldnt back off and an annoying but then he passed. We had one car that was annoying as hell which was an old Crown Victoria and he was on Marks ass and pissing me the hell off. And there was no where to go, so then when Mark moved over and they were behind me I slowed down because of traffic so he started honking and I came to a snail’s pace wanting to beat the crap out of them. They were annoying as hell, and you could tell they dont give a damn. He honked and I moved over to Marks lane and to catch up with him. We were moving along fine and I could tell Mark was riding a lot better then when we started off with. It was a lot of fun, and then towards the end at light inside Salmiya we passed cars while they were stopped at red light to get to the front and that is freaky the first time doing it, but it seemed natural to Mark. After I knew he was close to home, I took off and got on the Fourth Ring Road to get on Fahaheel Highway. I was flying down the road, and I got home showered and feeling tired, but it was a nice feeling. For a first time out I think it was great.

Got Robo Back...

bmk1200rRearbg.jpg

bmk1200rRear.jpg

They took Robo at night with the new exhaust system, ready to be fitted. I was getting axnious at night wondering what the guy did with Robo, where is he parked. Is it a clean area? Whats happening? Is it secure? I dont know! But I really woke up next morning called the Tristar Garage because I knew what time the mechanics come in. I wasnt going to nag them too much, but I was only checking at 8 am who was going to work on Robo. I know all the mechanics there personally. I have modified Robo so much! I love the way he looks, Robo looks agressive ready to transform into a 10 foot autobot.

Then I got a call at 12pm noon that everything went smoothly and the exhaust upgrade looks great and sounds great! I couldnt have made a better choice. Im lucky that my work is in Shuweikh. I managed to finish up early and head over to the garage! And all it cost me for the install of the exhaust plus the pick up and delivery was 23 KD! I couldnt believe it was so cheap! These guys do an amazing job and they are reasonable! Now thats great service! A+ service in my opinion, I know there prices might be over MSRP for the bikes, but its worth it with this kind of good service! And it seems that I am not the only happy customer a lot of people that I talk to who have had experience with them is really happy with everything!

After getting my bike home, I got in some old jeans and t-shirt, and gave him a thurough wash. It was great! After looking at the end result I went upstairs took a shower and relaxed!

Robo Upgrade V2.1...

I think Robo looks good, and his engine his amazingly smooth. But I thought that he was too quiet! He has bite, but no bark. And this is the bark that I think he needed. An Akrapovic full exhaust system. It costs around 600 KD for this full exhaust system, but you could get the slip-on for 200 KD for the sound without the performance. Akrapovic is one of the higher end exhaust system that you can get on the market, and they just came out with the new Evolution line and I thought it fits with Robo’s attitude so I went for it after looking around at whats available. Usually manufacturers aim for the Japanese and some Italian, but not everyone makes exhausts for BMWs. Cant wait!

Bike Tip – Motorcycle Tires...

clear_wrench2a.jpg

Road

These are very good roads tires meant to handle all types of roads, and they have really good water dispersion. This is the list of the 99% road riding.

Michelin Pilot Power.jpg

  • Bridgestone BT-014
  • Pirelli Diablo
  • Michelin Pilot Power
  • Dunlop Qualifier

Sport Road

These tires are extremely good road tires, but leaning towards good track usage as well. These are really good in the rain and higher end of tires.

metzelersportecm3sm.jpg

  • PIrelli Diablo Corsa III
  • Pirelli Supercorsa Pro Street
  • Bridgestone BT-002 Racing Street
  • Michelin Pilot Power 2CT
  • Metzeler Sportec M3

Track

These tires are meant to be used on a track, and handle track usage. They need tire warmers, and some of them dont have good water dispersion. They need to be warmed up, so on the road they would remain pretty hard and wouldnt have good grip on the road because it takes so long for them to warm up. They are the perfect attackers for the track.

michelinpilotrace.jpg

  • Pirelli Supercorsa Pro SC
  • Metzeler Racetec
  • Bridgestone BT-002 Pro
  • Michelin Pilot Race
  • Dunlop 209GP

The ones in bold are the ones I have been using on the bikes I have ridden and I couldnt recommend them enough. I have ridden some of these tires in the rain and hard on the moutain roads. My trust has grown greatly in these tires, and I probably wont reach their limits since they are very good.

Quick Stop...

I had a lot of work yesterday and just going through it wasnt too bad. I knew I was going to have a long week so Im just getting ready for it. Aside from that my day yesterday was pretty eventful, and I had a pretty funny conversation.

My barber calls me up, and I was surprised he was calling me early the morning. He’s a great guy, and funny as hell too. Then he tells me that I need a shave and a hair cut. I haven’t seen the guy for at least two weeks. I started laughing I asked him why he thinks that, he told me one my friends said that my beard is too ridiculous and needs to be shaved off, and he was leaving for a couple of days. And I thought it would be perfect to go to the barber since Im always relaxed over there. He gave me a 4:10pm appointment and I thought it would give me the perfect amount of time to head home and get on Robo to go to the barber. I have to say that Salmiya was empty, and it was the first time that I rode during the day and I could feel a cool breeze! It was fantastic! I didnt see one police man on the road and I was riding down the gulf road for a bit. I got Robo back, and I will posting about Tristar’s great service and the Exhaust sounds amazing and I will be posting about that too, Im extremely happy with it.

bmk1200R.jpg

When I got there I saw my cousin and we started talking and laughing. He didn’t know that I am insane about bikes and that I ride a lot. He just saw a person in full gear walk up to him while he was getting a shave. After that it was my turn, and I shaved my head, shaved the beard and adjusted the goatee. It felt freaking amazing! I just felt so clean, and the ride back was just as great. The rodes to and from Salmiya were empty it was fantastic. I saw a few more cars as I was getting close to home, but it was nothing compared to normal traffic.

Bike of the Year 2006...

gsxr750k6.jpg

Over the years most manufacturers have phased out the 750cc motorcycles since jumps in technology have made the 600 formidable motorcycles and the 1000cc motorcycles demon on the road. Except for Suzuki, they kept this 750cc piece even though they were extremely succesful with their 1000cc and 600cc motorcycles. And this year they made the perfect motorcycle if it could be ever said of one motorcycle then this would be it. It has the power of 1000cc motorcycles, and it handles like a 600cc motorcycle. Its good around town and fierce piece of machinary and ingenuity on the track. It has enough power that you dont need to keep in the high revs to enjoy it, and turns lighter then the 1000cc, and it has amazing grip and you get great feedback, with brakes able to stop on a dime. With a silky smooth gear, enough power beween your legs to make you loose your breath and the chassis with the perfect balance. Such an amazing bike and the Suzuki dealer in Kuwait wont bring it in because they think they wont sell any of them.
