More Upgrades...

DSC02289.jpg

I just got my bike back and there were a few parts they have included in the last couple of upgrades since I got them before they were done working on Pyro.

pazzolevers.jpg

Parts installed as of right now:

  • Dark Screen
  • Clear Tank PadNew Parts:
  • Carbon Fiber Tank Pad to replace the clear one
  • Clutch Slave Cylinder
  • Heat Shields (2)
  • Pazzo Racing Levers (Brake & Clutch)

I was happy they managed to install the new equipment while it was still in the shop, I’m really looking forward to trying it out and seeing how it rides differently. The one thing right now that the technical people at Tristar told me that Ducati is having a recall on the ECU since it is what is causing problems, and I hope they get it sooner rather then later.

Speedy Moto Custom Sport Classic...

SpeedyMoto Custom 2006 Ducati Sport Classic. (SMSC)

This is a custom modified Ducati Sport Classic from Speedy Moto. Speedy Moto is one of the best aftermarket manufacturers for specific Ducati items. Their products have so much quality built into them, and you can even see that from the Custom Modified Sport Classic. They gave it a modern edge to a classic looking bike, I wouldn’t mind having something like that in my garage, I especially like the color they have used.

TriStar Pickup...

DSC02721.jpg

I’m going out of town for a bit so I contacted TriStar to see if they can sort out my stalling issue as well as install the clutch slave cylinder, and the two carbon fiber heat shields. I’m happy they manage to make sometime since I called them late in the week and I know they are getting packed since it is the end of riding season for most riders, I don’t think I will be stopping right at this moment. At least they can work on Pyro while I’m out of town which is great. I also really like that they have these vans specialized to hold bikes so that I’m comfortable knowing that it is tied down inside the vehicle. This van seems to be only a couple of months old, I’m just waiting for the Tristar branding to be across the whole thing.

What I am waiting on:

The Heat shields I got have a special coating to reflect the heat so that my legs don’t get as cooked as much. It really gets hot under my right leg so this will really help, it is made from highquality carbon fiber and a special heat reflecting coating on the inside. The manufacturer is Clay Carrier Composites who uses his expertise making components for NASA and Lockheed Marting to make these highquality bike parts. The STM Clutch Slave Cylinder will make shifting so much smoother and its a vast improvement over the stock Clutch Slave Cylinder.

Just felt like Riding...

DSC02648.jpg

I really felt like riding since I didn’t get much of chance to go riding this weekend so I decided to go after finishing up lunch and I was enjoying the night. There was a little too much traffic for my liking but my head was completely into riding. I was just flowing from lane to lane and just feeling the speed. I didn’t even look down, I knew how the engine sounded and felt, I was doing everything naturally its as if your walking and you don’t think about what to do next with your feet, you just do it, and that is how I felt on the bike. I was just flowing from turn to turn, and I just kept moving. I wish we had curvy roads with no lights, that would be so much fun.

As I was riding the bike stalled once or twice, but that has happened since the bike is very new and they are working out the tweaks in the 1098s. Then suddenly when I was next to Lorenzo as I was shifting down the it stalled again but it wouldn’t start up. I tried a couple of times, but it didn’t so I managed to stop on the side and I tried starting it up but it didn’t. So I switched it off for a minute and when I switched it back on it started up after a bit, I rode for a bit then it stalled again when I stopped by the Casper and Gambini. I switched it off completely and started it up again, so I decided to keep riding towards home at that point. Since it was taken to service it is acting up more so I will taking back to the TriStar service and hopefully they can solve this issue, I know its a simple fix but I’m just pissed that I can’t ride it while its in the garage.

MV Agusta Kuwait...

DSC02607.jpg

After riding this weekend with the MV Agusta group I decided to visit their new showroom with Mark and a friend. Our friend was thinking about getting an MV Agusta Brutale and they had a nice list of machines over there:

  • Brutale 750S
  • Brutale America (Limited Edition)
  • F4 SENNA
  • F4 R312 (Limited Number)
  • F4 750S
  • F4 1000R
  • F4 1000S
  • Cagiva Raptor
  • MV Agusta Website

And a few more machines! The manager is Patrick and he is extremely friendly and passionate about bikes, you can sit there all day and talk about bikes with him. He has a love for motorcycles that can only match mine. We were talking about calipers, shocks, and different pistons for a little while and they have a very friendly staff. They seem to service other bikes as well but whats nice is they are working on their operation as well and trying to get things off the ground. The showroom might be small but you can see a lot and the people working there love what they do, its very apparent and nice. They are a young operation but they are concentrating on service and have a nice selection. Its nice to see that we have other choices out there as well, and good service. The one thing that shocked me was seeing a Cagiva Raptor, that is one beautiful machine and it takes a special person to love it, I have only seen one over the past 4 years and I didn’t expect to see one in Kuwait.

Friday Different Ride...

DSC02574.jpg

I went riding this Friday morning after taking a nice long deserved nap. I really wanted to ride and get things going, so I got on my bike and headed over to Marina for a quick drink in this heat and continue riding. To my surprise I saw a huge amount of MV Agustas, the most I have ever seen in Kuwait, about 7 of them and a lot of other bikes. Then I saw a friend who was riding an R1, and he told me to come meet these guys at the Cafe. So when I headed over it turned out to be the MV Agusta crew, and I have never met them before, so I decided to stay and I knew two of the 13 poeple there.

After about 20 mins we headed out and the group was about 19 motorcycles which is a large group. What I liked is there organization, and there designation of safety officers and hand signals for situations. We rode from Salmiya to Hilton Manguf, and from there I decided to go home while they stopped to get a bite to eat. A nice bunch of guys who I will be riding with every once in a while. It was an interesting experience since all of them are riding superbikes and they were all going fast in an organized way. It was fun and I will join them every now and then.

Stolen R1 Conclusion...

R1Choice1.jpg

It was in January when my Yamaha R1 was stolen in the US, and it has been a long process with insurance. The R1 had full coverage insurance with Geico and there is a process you have to follow with insurance.

What happened:

  • Contacted the police when the bike was stolen
  • Gave the police all the details
  • Then the police officer gives you a number to follow up with the police report
  • Then next morning my friend contacted insurance and told them what happened, he gave them the police report number
  • The police report took about 2 to 3 weeks to get to insurance
  • Then insurance has 1 month to search for the stolen bike
  • After that they evaluated the value of the motorcycle and you just have to wait, they asked for all the service reports and all the reciepts I had, and I kept those all in a file for every bike I had.

I bought the motorcycle back in March of 2005 and it only had been ridden 3400 miles (5480 kilometers), and I bought it for $10’800

I was thinking insurance would offer me something around $8’000, but they sent me a cheque for $9’200 which is fantastic, I really didn’t expect that, and I recommend anyone who wants good insurance to go with Geico.

Nice Dry Ride...

DSC02440.jpg

DSC02441.jpg

I stayed up late the night before not know if it was going to rain on Friday morning, I was looking forward to the ride but I didn’t want to get drenched again. I woke up it was sunny so I took a shower and headed down stairs!

I had to use a different set of gear since some of it was still wet!

Gear:

  • Haga Arai Helmet (Instead of Scorpion Matt Black)
  • Joe Rocket gloves (Instead of Alpinstar Gloves)

The Jacket and boots dried after the wash which was good, and I remembered how come I loved my Haga Arai RX-7 Helmet so much, it felt different, comfortable, snug and great! I really enjoyed the different helmet, but I like my other gloves! The weather was cool and there were a few water spots on the road but I was avoiding them! It was a fun ride but the funny part is I caught two friends on the road and one guy honked at me and said hello yet I couldn’t hear anything from the music in my helmet! It was a good day!
