Secret Stash – Hiding Items in UnS...

Now this is fantastic! I love the idea of “Secret Stash” taking the advantage of daily items to hide objects and items in plain sight. This is like modern James Bond secret areas, you can hide your other passport, cash, secret documents in furniture and daily use items. I have always wanted to have a secret storage area, or a hidden wall or room, something of that nature to have in my house but these pieces of furniture in the video are fantastic.

This project is about concealing valuables, secrets, bad habits and personal information in our workplaces. Here, hidden spaces/ messages were created within 8 general objects such as wood boards, lamps and disposable coffee cups. We make judgments based mainly on our experiences and what we see. This dependency on visual information can create large blind spots. Thus, usual stereotypes of how we perceive solid, transparency and lighting are employed in this project to play with notions of ‘solid and void’, and ‘true and false’.

Elephants in London...

I heard about the elephants all around London a while back, I read it somewhere online but never realized that they were going to place it in public places all around london. 250 brightly painted elephants around London, I managed to see just a few while walking around between meetings, or a few while I’m in a cab going across town. Each one is painted by an artist or a celebrity, the goal is to raise £2 million for the Asian elephant and benefit 20 UK conservation charities. This idea is genius and I love when they can get a charity together that gets the public involved, and later they will be auctioned off on the 26th to 28th of June. I liked some of them, but the one with the dog really got to me, every person has a story.

Graffiti Analysis 2.0: Digital Blackbook...

“The project aims to build the world’s largest archive of graffiti motion, and bring together two seemingly disparate communities that share an interest hacking systems, whether found in code or in the city,” Roth states.

I have always been a fan of graffiti, some of it is pretty cool and some of it is crude but I always admired the skills some of these people had. Now some people have taken up this project of archiving different kinds of graffiti, they even developed a programming language called GML, Graffiti Markup Language, which takes a lot of dedication to put together to accommodate the graffiti the way they want. I love the way they have the graffiti free standing as if its in its own space with no gravity.

Street Fighter Minimalist Drawings...

Some cool minimalist drawings of Street Fighter characters, starting off with Ryu as usual then going through the rest. I have seen better drawings of other concepts from the TV and Movie Minimalist posters but these are pretty cool too. I like that this is from just one line of video games, but with all the different characters of Street Fighter I was expecting more.

The Female Versions of SuperHeroes...

Hell Girl

The title of the Art work is “If Super-Heroes Were Women?”, now this is an interesting twist of thought, what would the female versions of some super heroes would look like. Some of the concepts are pretty cool and some are extravagant, but the best of the bunch is Hell Girl, Splinter Cell, and Astro Girl, Super Heroes we have known to be male figures and turned them into female superheroes. Serious geeks love some of these characters but a few are missing, like a female Wolverine or Iron Man, but I always thought comic drawings are really cool.

Picking A Typeface...

TypeFaceSM

Now this is an interesting process for picking a typeface, this is honestly a perfect thought process to match the typeface you want. It used to confuse the hell out of me when choosing fonts for different purposes, I would honestly write the words in Microsoft Word and go through applying the different fonts to see which one I like, it was a ridiculously tedious process and most of the time I didn’t come out with good results. But this is honestly an excellent process, recommending certain fonts to different purposes, people might say its a bit limiting but I think its useful when you don’t know what the hell your doing, which is my exact situation. I even enjoyed the questions that were put into the thought process, very fun.

Minimalist Comic Book Poster Art...

Modernist Mutants and Minimalist Marvels! Thats the perfect title for this comic art concept, which Rogan Josh call his retro comic poster art. There is a lot of Comic and Video Game influenced art these days because of the success of the movies and amazing story lines but Josh’s art stands out from a lot of the ones I have scene. He has stripped down all the layers down to the minimum, the core of each of these characters and I love it.

Storm, Thor, and Captain America being my favorite pieces from his collection, I just hope that he keeps making more unique ones. Some of them are easily recognizeable and some are only familiar to comic aficionados but still very good. You can check out the larger gallery over at ModHero as well as the GeekTyrant link below.

Art of Patrick Brown...

(Predator)

Patrick Brown can take any concept and turn into a cool and comic art form such as these. He has been featured in Kotaku and io9 for lots of post, they recently posted his Devian Arts link and I found a lot that I love. I have a lot of respect and awe for people who can draw like this, I always wanted to be able to draw comics and manga the way I have it pictured in my head, but the alas my hand does not move in the right way to show that image. Now with Patrick he has made amazing concepts from different video games and movies, each one is better then the other.

(Avatar)

There are a lot more concepts in his Devian Art profile so check it out for the ones you like. I personally love Gears Of War2, Predator, Assassins Creed II, Snake Eater, Banner’s Daily Workout, and The Transportar. I honestly love them all, wish I could blow them up and have them on my wall.

Retro Posters of my Favorite Shows...

Now this is art at a fun level, an artist called Exergian has taken all the popular tv shows in turned them into Pop-Culture Art relating to each show. Taking each show and coming up with a retro poster to represent it is a very fun idea, some are really matching and some are a bit off. The link below you can see all the posters which are for sale, but added all the ones that I found to be interesting, some of my favorites are 24, BattleStar Gallactica, Dexter, FlashForward, Knight Rider, Heroes, and MacGuyer.

Iron Man – Kotobukiya Statue...

Every once in a while you find the right piece that you really don’t expect, and this came out of no where. I received the Kotobukiay Iron Man Statue for my birthday a few months back and I have had the hardest time trying to figure out where to put this amazing statue, I can’t get enough of it but I didn’t want to ruin it. I kept on trying to figure out the perfect location for it, and simply I found the perfect spot in my home theater area.

I placed Iron Man on the left front speaker, and I didn’t know until I unboxed him that there are is a switch to see the lights of the eyes and the chest plate. Its such a cool statue, I keep thinking if only I had the real life suit that this would be cooler. Its a perfect 13 inches, with a few bumps and bruises to resemble the real suit and the quality of the Kotobukiya statue is honestly amazing, every time a friend walks in I ask them what they think, the usual reaction is that its cool but when I switch on the light of the suit, there eyes pop out. I am one happy movie goer, now to only work on the getting a fully functional suit.
