Green Lantern – The Comic Legend G...

GL1

I have been a huge fan of comics since the early 90s, but getting comics in the Middle East is nearly impossible. I have always been a huge fan of Green Lantern, a hero with his only real limit is his imagination, I would always want to be the Green Lantern over any other superhero. And thanks to the introduction of the iPad it has become a relief to all comic lovers across the world, quick access to every comic made and that is being made. And one thing made easier I can keep track of the storylines at this stage. As for the Green Lantern, they have had a very active 3 years building up the Green Lantern Universe and leading this was Geoff Johns. So many colorful characters and now they have reached 4 Green Lanterns for Sector 2814 (Earth for the Non-GL Fans). Below is a short list of story arcs that you have to read from the Rebirth and ended with the Wrath of the First Lantern. I don’t want to ruin for anyone reading, but if you are even slightly into comics, these are a must read for the Green Lantern. With the end of the Epic build up of the Series, Geoff Johns has ended his career on a high after 10 years at the helm of the GL universe. Still I’m going to keep reading the Green Lantern because there is still so much to tell, I just hope its as good as it was for the past three years, with so many new characters they still have a lot of stories to tell.

Heroic Words Of Wisdowm...

Oath1GL

In my mind, one of the most famous pieces of comics dialogue is the oath sworn by Green Lantern. I gave this some deeper thought and realized that the oath is, in a way, applicable to real life. Anyone, should they choose, can swear an oath to stand against evil. Then it hit me. Have all comic heroes said things that are applicable in real life? Have they all said things that can inspire any of us, comic fan or not?

Oath2Superman

This is the work of Adam Thompson, an artist who works within the comic realm and and he wanted to connect with people on a different level. Comics are already has a huge pop culture fan base and has grown thanks to the movies, but people don’t realize the depth of the stories in these comics and how much they have built up, people write book for years before they come out, some of these comics have stories dating back almost 100 years, with so much material to work with Adam Thompson want to relate people’s lives to comics and so who came up with these amazing pieces, and I love the quotes on them. I have to admit that I do have the Green Lantern oath memorized since I was always a fan of the Green Lantern, but the other quotes are just as moving.

There are a lot more comic posters below, be sure to check out the rest of the characters.

For over a century Coca-Cola has been a touchstone of modern culture and a global icon. This newest addition to Assouline’s best-selling Memoire collection, Coca-Cola: Film, Music, Sports celebrates the iconic brand’s broad-reaching influence in the domains of film, music, and athletics. This limited-edition set in a unique sculpted ice slipcase is a must-have accessory not only for collectors of Coca-Cola memorabilia but also for lovers of American culture everywhere.

Assouline is an interesting publication, they make unique books on subjects ranging from art, food, sport, marketing, history, brands, and people. Their books are always high quality with beautifully done pictures, a different perspective on a subject with lots of amazing pictures. Their books are always hardback and sometimes only a limited edition of books are made, and in this case I love the quality of their books. I don’t always buy their books right away because they are very big and heavy, not something you can carry around with you but it also depends on this subject. This book is about the influence of Coke in Sports, Film, and Music and I love all three subjects and Coke has always been one of my favorite brands. I have one Coke Assouline book and it is filled with all their old advertising and other pieces of work from Coca Cola, and I preordered this piece from Assouline as soon as I saw it.

Graffiti TimeLapse...

I have always been a fan of Graffiti and people who know how to do it. I honestly wish I had the skill to use paint the way they do, I have no clue how they keep the designs within a line and cross it to make the perfect shapes, I love seeing it done and especially love seeing Arabic Graffiti since the design is art work within itself.

Artists & Comic Art – My Love...

ArtWork1

I have been addicted to comics since I was able to get my hands on them, I remember keeping my allowance to go buy as many comics as possible from Al Manara Book Shop in Salmiya in the early 90s. Every XMen or Spiderman comic that I could find or whatever they had, I would even read the comics from Dark Horse comics back in the day, I just loved comics and couldn’t get enough of them. Now 20 years later things have change, but my love for comics has only grown, and who can’t love these blockbuster movies based on these comics, but I still love the comics. Thanks to the iPad we can easily get our hands on comics as they are released through DC, Marvel, Comixology, and Transformers. Instantly in your hands and reading everything as it happens, it just doesn’t get better then this. Then there is the aspect of meeting and getting in touch with these amazing artists who work on these comics. After roaming DeviantArt, twitter, and instagram the past few years I have managed to talk to a lot of these amazing artists and purchase artwork directly from them as well as commission work from them when they are available. Some of these artists work for IDW, Disney, Marvel, or DC in their animated studios or comic studios, and some of them are independent. All the images here are artwork I commissioned from these amazingly talented people. I am thankful for all these online resources that I am able to get in touch with these amazing people and get my hands on the art work of things that I love.

Joey Vasquez
Alberto Gonzalez
KWEStone
Steven Sanchez
J Scott Campbell

Honestly they are all amazing people and very easy to talk to, you can get your work from them into their busy schedules. Sometimes their work is done quick and you get it in a week and sometimes you have to wait a few months but the wait is always worth it. Be sure to check out there work.

Voltron – Monstariam...

Any art work from the 80s anime show will surely get my blood pumping, and that is exactly what Mosntariam has done. They went ahead with some cool retro Voltron work and it looks amazing. I checked out the other items they had some of them are pretty cool, I got the Jungar piece as a gift so I was always looking for something cool. Then I saw the Voltron pieces and ordered them all, it was insanely cool to get them.

I asked for all colors of the print including the one with all of them combined. This was delivered in Kuwait in some very cool packaging, I liked what they did and then they delivered it to my office in a few days after I ordered the prints. Now all I need is the wall space to place all this amazing work, there are too many things hanging on the wall at the moment, I need more office space.

You can check out there store at the link below:

The Avengers In Dungeons & Dragons ...

The Avengers really got the Dungeons & Dragons treatment, and they look pretty damn intimidating. The top three in this list is Captain America, Iron Man & Hawkeye. Looks like they pack punch with their magic instead of technology, and I really like the style of the drawing. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Medieval Form.

Sporty Game Of Thrones House Sigils...

Show your allegiance to the King in the North, or let it be known that you support Daenerys Targaryen’s campaign on the Iron Throne, then wear your Westeros team colors with these sporty Game of Thrones house Sigils.

Now this is pretty cool, taking the House Sigils from Game Of Thrones in turning them in Football League Logos so you can support your team. My favorite Logos are in this order: Starks, Lannisters (Even thought I detest them), and the Targaryens, who doesn’t love Dragons.

Star Wars Vehicle Art...

This artwork just spoke to my inner nerd, there isn’t enough Star Wars work out there and I can never get enough of it. Nicholas Hyde aka Harshness has taken the vehicles we have come to love from Star Wars and turned them into works of art. I would love to see the Millenium Falcon & AT-AT Walker pieces hanging on my wall. All of these are for sale on Etsy

Movie Car Posters...

Some very cool car posters related to all kinds of nerdiness and pop culture, from movies to tv shows and video games. A lot of famous vehicles you can choose from and some interesting ones that take a bit to figure out. I like the idea that each poster is named after the vehicle so it takes a bit to figure them out and some of them are obvious, if I had the right place I would hang these up for sure.

  • Halo – Warthog
  • Ghost Busters – Ectomobile
  • Big Trouble In Little China – Jack Burton Express
  • Back To The Future – Delorean Time Machine
