Earth Hour

Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.

Our environment in Kuwait has taken a beating the last couple of years and our government has done nothing to improve it. This is an initiative from a group in Kuwait supported by this world wide event to get Kuwait to participate and make it known that we do care. I’m not the biggest environmentalist by far, but things have really gotten out of hand in Kuwait and we feel the effects of Global Warming more then anyone else, it just keeps getting hotter and hotter. We need more efficient power plants, real electric billing so people stop putting spot lights in their house like its a Hollywood premiere, Kuwait the only country in the world which subsidizes 95% of the price of power and they don’t even get paid. Let people feel the use of electricity and they will use it less. Even our sewage system and water desalinization plants are coming apart. Kuwait is seriously on a track for an environmental disaster if drastic measures aren’t taken soon.
