In Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as “The Basterds” are chosen specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. The Bastards soon cross paths with a French-Jewish teenage girl who runs a movie theater in Paris which is targeted by the soldiers.
I think Tarantino outdid himself this time around, this was a movie that I wasn’t expecting to be as good as it was. It was a simple yet deep movie, that was very entertaining with very colorful characters, a bunch of jews who went to France to terrorize the Germans and treat them with as little human compassion as possible, such as using their heads for batting practice. Brad Pitt pulled off Lt. Aldo Raine perfectly, the Mid Western American soldier who is there to kick as much ass as possible, and how simple stories intertwined to work for the Americans and how you can interpret the story of Hitler at the time. Lets just say that not everything was historically correct but it was extremely entertaining, Tarantino picked the right actors to match the characters and the best part is that you really don’t know what to expect, and your expectations are usually thrown out the window. A movie really worth watching and Tarantino did the original justice.
