Aaliyah was one of those amazing artist who had so much ahead of her, and yet she had done so much at a young age. I remember listening to rap and a little old school rap, and throwing some RnB into the mix. It only feels like yesterday that I was listening to her songs nonstop, but now its been 8 years since Aaliyah’s life was cut short after her plane crashed shortly after take-off. Besides her talent it was her beauty, style and demeanor that had me hooked, she had this thing about her that made her different as an artist.
Aaliyah – Back and Forth (1994)
Her first single that she dropped with R Kelly and at age 15 she was already on the billboards.
Aaliyah – One in a Million (1996)
A song from her second Album which she collaborated with Missy Elliot and Timbaland in 1996 and that also was at the top of the billboards.
Aaliyah – Are You That Somebody (1999)
From the Sound Track of Dr. Doolittle, this song was off the charts back then, I could even remember how this song was on MTV’s top ten for a the whole summer. With the release of this song Aaliyah really grew up and she had her dance moves after so that long with Timbaland and Missy.
Aaliyah feat. Timbaland – Try Again (2000)
Now this song is a little special since its one my favorite movies, I really loved Rome Must Die, I remember seeing in the movies at least 6 times with a friend in two weeks. I even watch it every once in a while, it really got me going and I loved every moment of it, with Jet Li they made a great duo.
Aaliyah & DMX – Back In One Piece (2000)
One of those fun videos that she made after Romeo Must Die, it picks up after Try Again. The Romeo Must Die Album is one of my favorite CDs and you would be surprised the list of artists who were on it and who are now as big as they are.
Aaliyah – Rock That Boat (2001)
This is from the final cut of her music videos before passing away in the plane crash, she went to the Bahamas to take this footage and she never knew it was her last.
