Scott Pilgrim vs. the World follows the eponymous slacker rocker on his colorful quest to defeat his dream girl’s seven evil ex-boyfriends. Twenty-two-year-old Scott Pilgrim may not have a job, but rocking the bass for his band, Sex Bob-omb, is a tough job unto itself. When Scott locks eyes with Ramona Flowers, he knows she’s the girl he wants to grow old with. But Ramona has some serious baggage; her supercharged exes rue the thought of her being with another man, and they’ll crush any guy who gives her a second glance. Now, in order to win Ramona’s heart, Scott will do battle with everyone from vegan-powered rock gods to sinister skateboarders, never losing sight of his gorgeous goal as he pummels his way to victory.
Every once in a while you get a movie you don’t expect to be that good but knocks it out of the park, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was that movie. I kept hearing a lot of good reviews but I prefer not to know anything before going into the movie. All I knew is that Scott Pilgrim has to fight all the Ex-Boyfriends of Ramona to gain her love or keep it. The characters of this show are straight out of the Scott Pilgrim comic books, but they know how to give them that comic book feel. I loved the fight seen in this movie, its as if Scott the normal guy suddenly has super powers and goes back to normal, he gets pummeled to the ground and through walls but all is normal. The visual mix of comic book flavor and video game style is guaranteed to either blow your mind or put you into an epileptic fit, and I loved every moment of it and every action scene. The characters played their part perfectly, and I wanted more comic relief from Scott Pilgrim’s gay roommate, a simple young crush developed into ridiculous video game and comic book battles. You should not miss this movie.
